This image is documentation of my first shower post surgery.
I was not allowed to take a shower for several weeks while I was in recovery and the wound were healing. You can see here that my chest was still extremely swollen.
Being the clean freak that I am, it was horrible not to be able to get a proper wash. This first shower after surgery was super wonderful and really liberating. It finally felt real, my surgery was over.

Oh man, that first shower. I REMEMBER THAT FIRST SHOWER. Because I was like you and horrified at not being able to shower for (in my case) a week. I'd stubbornly wash my face every morning, but I KNEW that I was getting funky. It didn't help that my first shower day, I'd had to truck from PA to NY that day, and my body was responding to all the damage with nausea. I felt pretty rotten.
But then I got to sit in my friend's uber-nice shower and SUDDENLY EVERYTHING BETTER. Hot shower = best part of modern life.
