► In the year 2013, a massive 7.1 earthquake hit San Francisco, California. Not a moment too soon, a monstrous creature emerged and attacked the Golden State Bridge and cut a 30 mile long path of destruction throughout the city. With the combined forces of the US and UK military, they were able to take down the monster in six days, using three nuclear missiles after tanks and jets proved ineffectual against the creature. This catastrophic event was then later dubbed as K-DAY, the first Kaiju attack on humanity. Soon after, multiple cities world wide fell under attack. As Kaiju began to appear in increasing frequency, nothing short of nuclear options were considered as a means to stop them as conventional warfare was proving useless against them.

► The Kaiju are a race of amphibious creatures genetically engineered by an extradimensional race of sentient beings. In 2013, the Precursors opened a portal between dimensions at the bottom of the Pacific Ocean, allowing the Kaiju to enter Earth's dimension. As biological weapons of warfare, Kaiju are extremely hostile and toxic creatures seemingly designed with the intention to wipe out humankind. More information can be found here.

► In response to the increasing Kaiju attacks around the Pacific Rim, eight Shatterdomes were built as the primary headquarters of the Pan Pacific Defense Corps. Founded in 2014, the Corps represent an international alliance of 21 nations across the Pacific Rim, bound together by the shared goal of containing, combating and eliminating the Kaiju threat and saving humanity from extinction. Each Shatterdome was built in locations nearest to Kaiju breach points in order to prevent massive damages to cities (Hong Kong, Lima, Sydney, Tokyo, Vladivostok, Russia; Los Angeles, Panama City and Anchorage). After Dr. Jasper Schoenfeld pitched the idea of creating giant mechs to battle the kaiju, the Corps were formed to fund the project.

► With the success of the project being funded, giant mobile weapons called Jaegers were made in order to combat the Kaiju. Though the construction of the first Mark-1 Jaeger, Brawler Yukon, was successful, drawbacks connected to the neural interface overloading the mind of its test pilot brought into question the Jaeger Program's feasibility. But upon later tests, bridging one's mind another copilot created a connection between the two that allowed them to pilot the Jaeger successfully. The immediate connection creates a viable means in which the human mind can carry the burden of the neural load with the assistance of another. This bridge between both minds is called the Drift. 

► Pleased with the results, the PPDC greenlit the production of five more Mark-1 Jaegers that were later deployed across the Pacific in specific countries. The Shatterdomes then became factories for the construction, repair and maintenance of the Jaegers. All operations, Ranger training and experiments regarding the Kaiju are carried out within their respective Shatterdome bases.

► However due to the Kaiju gaining further intelligence and being able to fight off the Jaegers in combat, the PPDC put the Jaeger Project on hold and used their money to fund a defensive area called "The Wall" which would protect the surrounding countries from Kaiju attack. Despite all efforts, the wall protecting Sydney, Australia was reported to have been torn down by a category 4 Kaiju.

► Since the world leaders cut off support for the Jaeger Program, passionate others decided that they didn't need them and rallied all those willing to stand against the relentless Kaiju attacks, forming the Resistance.

► Characters do not have to be directly involved in the resistance as Jaeger pilots. They can be scientists or researchers, mechanics and engineers who make and repair the Jaegers, strategists and technicians to help strategize and relay orders to pilots, medics, blackmarket workers who help provide Kaiju samples to the science team, to trainees in any field or even just regular civilians. Any high ranking positions are only limited to staff, sorry! Once you have signed up for this event, please fill out the character sheet below! Character sheets may be completed at any time.

► Due to the two pilot system Jaegers run on, teams will be formed. You may choose your partner(s), only two or three people in each team. If your character is something other than a pilot, you can still form a team with whomever you choose, team name is also optional. However, a pilot must have another pilot on their team! For example, you may have two pilots and one mechanic on a team but you cannot have two scientists and one pilot. You may also choose to be randomly put into a team. Those who wish to sign up competitively for special rewards, signup deadline is August 16th @ 11:59 PST, but the sooner you sign up the better!
