Not even joking.

i was talking with my friend Skeleion about art theft and she linked me to something that was traced of hers.

to my shock i noticed it was submitted to a folder i'd not seen before.

Basicly Da is saying its okay for you to TRACE peoples art and post it as long as the original artist doesn't find out

Do you remove copies and trace-over art?

If you believe that your original work has been directly and deliberately copied by another artist and that duplicate reproduces your own work in exacting detail then you may file a formal DMCA takedown notice with us by using our electronic form. You may also file a DMCA takedown notice by using other methods as listed in our Copyright Policy.

I don't want my commissioned/copyrighted art traced for a base to use for free.

the funny part of this, most of ""bases"" say on them "Don't steal" .........

Oh and DAs rules on Bases

Can I submit art which I have made using a "base" (or line art) created by someone else?

Yes, providing that all terms and conditions which have been set by the original provider of the "base" or line art have been properly followed you may submit your final product

nowhere does it say the base maker needs permission from the artist they are tracing off.

A base isn't an "exact duplicate" of somebody's art so you can't really fuss about legal copyrights, but it's not considerate of the artist's feelings and it's morally wrong whether it's legal or not.  Reusing a pose is one thing, but when you take somebody else's character (or a real person!) and strip them naked/make them bald and start selling them off for Points and making profit off somebody else's effort, that just isn't right.

Using bases instead of drawing by yourself is lazy anyway, but even the base makers are too lazy to draw these days.
