Gotta focus on what?

Apertado turned out to look way too small since I drew the background Q__Q So actually the fence is too tall what makes Apertado seem tiny for a Hanoverian I'm kinda unhappy because of that but well, can't change it anymore :c I noticed it when it was scanned Q_____Q He also is too dark but the pencil I need for his coat is just so tiny and it's hard to draw smooth shadows with it
Apart from that I like this picture a lot x3 Apertado looks a little cocky here It's his second show, this time I chose a halter class for him As soon as I have a new pencil I will enter dressage classes with him again He really became my favourit RES horse
As you might know Apertado isn't the kind of horse who can focus on serious things for a long time, not even during competetions Guess his attention is somewhere else here

Fella was away from home, once again. This time without Issobella and Caruso, or Gina who would complain about her lovesickness all day. It actually felt good to be that far away from those problems, but the same time Fella had so many thoughts in her head. She thought about Caruso, and him and Issobella, and how she could solve all that. Only thing she didn't want for sure was telling anyone about her feelings to Caruso.
She sighed deeply. Apertado was standing next to her, he seemed relaxed, maybe even alittle bored. The big stallion lowered his head and nudged Fella briefly. "You'll get a treat later.", the young woman said in return. For some reason she always had to smile as soon as she looked into Apertado's eyes. She loved that stallion and all the doubts she had had at first were gone. Fella and Apertado were waiting for their turn outside the stables. The sun was bright and it was shining down ever so hot. Apertado snorted as he raised his head. Fella instanly looked into the direction that her horse did. Sergej joined her. He was the only one who came with Fella this time. It was Sergej's first competition, as well it was Basti's first. Sergej was Basti's jockey until the thoroughbred stallion would be too old for races. "Are you nervous?", Sergej asked with a smile. Fella shook her head. "No, why? It's just a halter class." Sergej smirked for a moment, trying not to remember Fella what kind of horse Apertado was. "To be honest, I am alittle nervous about tomorrow. And I'm really glad they changed the date. It would be way too hot for a race today." Fella nodded to agree while she patted Apertado's neck. Suddenly they heared a voice through the louspeakers at the sand arena. The speaker announced tha start of the halter class. "We'll be first." Fella muttered. She forced a brief smile. "Have fun out there." Sergej replied, but he felt that something was wrong. He had that feeling for two weeks now and it kind of made him worry about Fella. He liked her very much and was so grateful. Fella was something like a big sister to him. The last thing he wanted was her being unhappy.
"The first horse we will see is 6-year-old hanoverian stallion Apertado from the Royal Emerald Stables in Germany. His halter is Fella Wetson, the owner of the stables.", the speaker said when Fella entered the arena with Apertado. She was obviously proud of him, and Apertado himself looked quite proud as well. Fella led the stallion along the fence in a walk first, then in a trot. Apertado was unexpectedly concentraded and calm. "Good boy, Apertado.", Fella whispered to him, glad about his current behaviour. But it was as if the Hanoverian had understood her. When Fella led him into the middle of the arena to show him to the audience and the judges, he suddenly raised his head, ears pricked forward and his eyes curious. He made a step to the direction he was looking at. Fella pulled slightly on the leadrope. "Apertado look here.", she whispered. But her stallion wasn't listening. Although he was taking the step back to Fella, he was everything but concentraded now. He whickered silently. Fella shook her head, then decided to dare a glance to where Apertado was looking at. A person was leading his horse to the stables, right next to the sand arena. Obviously a mare, because otherwise Apertado wouldn't be that distracted. Fella giggled. "You may look at nice girls later."
Apertado looked down to Fella with his oh-so-innocent view. Fella raised a brow and smiled. Some of the people were giggling now. "Would have been a wonder if everything went right with you on a show.", Fella said to the stallion when she left the arena again.
