THE CREATURE WITHIN || personality|| ambitions|| fears|| weaknesses|| strengths

PERSONALITY: (-) negative (+) positive (~) neutral
(-) Sarcastic: To say Leviathan has a sharp tongue is like saying a shark’s bite just stings a little. This is a trait learned from his father, who was always joking around with his mate and using this kind of language. “oh really, I never noticed.” Was a favorite line of Levi’s great father but don’t expect him to joke around as lightly as his father. When irritated Leviathan can be a rather harsh feline to deal with. In fact, don’t try to mess with an irritated or angry Levi, you might get hurt.

(~) Straightforward: Lev has never been one to beat around the bush, he’s found that, while it may not always be taken with appreciation, a staight answer is the best kind. If asked his opinion he will more than happily give it, though, they may not like the answer. If he sees something he doesn’t like, you sure as hell better believe Levi will be there to tell you what is going wrong and how to fix it.

(+) Determined: From birth Leviathan has been told determination is a cat’s best friend. A feline who can figure out what needs to be done and gets it done is one who will succeed further than any other, and that’s just what Lev wants. Once given a job he will not stop until it is finished and finished right. After all, “a job done thoroughly is a job done once.”

(~) Romantic: Oh yes, deep down under that thick outer shell is a hopeless romantic who is waiting for the perfect she-cat to love for all time. Watching his mother and father made him want what they had more than anything and he hopes one day this will happen for him.

(-) Narrow-sighted: Leviathan believes there aren't any colors other than black and white, maybe in different shades, but otherwise life is cut and dry. For every action there is a reaction and everything is how it seems. He's never been one to see things in a different light, this is partly where his mindset of always being right comes from. This trait has been known to make him some enemies and he isn't always the best cat to come to for advice.

(-) Unsympathetic: he absolutely /hates/ cats who pity themselves instead of solving their own problems. This is another reason why no cat should ever approach him for advice, because if he believes you're in fault, he will tell you, and then he'll tell you something along the lines of "get your ass up and fix it if it bothers you!" It's no big surprise that Levi has a problem making friends within and out of his tribe.

(+) Loyal: To leviathan, the Tribe will always come first. As he has no family that he knows of, he has no torn loyalties, the Tribe, foreign as it may be at times, is his family now. As much of a jerk as he may act, he will never allow any member of his Tribe to come to harm if he can help it, family is the most important thing, a lesson his father dutifully instilled in the tom. Also because of this trait he hates traitors and believes it is a crime that cannot be forgiven.

(+) Patient: this may come as a surprise, but Leviathan actually is a very patient tom, never pushing or rushing anyone past their breaking point. When it comes to kits and apprentices he almost never snaps at them, knowing that they are still learning and growing. With adults he has a little less patience, but can usually hold his tongue if someone's being just a little daft, only mumbling under his breath. It's only when a cat is being overly idiotic that his biting side rises to the surface. This trait makes him a great teacher because he doesn't expect perfection right away.

AMBITIONS:
Best he can be: being the determined feline he is, Levi will not settle for less than his absolute best and punishes himself thoroughly if he fails to meet his own high standards, which are pretty high. Because of this one may find the Tom cat practing fighting moves against some hapless trees or trying to bring back as much prey as he can carry. “practice makes perfect” isn’t even the begging for this cat.

Leader: Yupp, Leviathan wants to be leader so badly it hurts sometimes. He can see himself with his Silver tattoo, leading the Water-Tribe into victorious battle or seeing them through a harsh winter, leading his Tribe through all times, both good and bad. But he isn’t prepared to kill for this, no, murder and death make Levi sick to his stomach. He’s patient and hopefully, one day, the Spirits will see he’s right for this role.

FEARS:
Death: Not his own, but the death of those he loves. Although he believes in the afterlife and the Spirits that doesn’t mean he’s willing to give up his family and friends to the cold grip of death. When he was a kit, seeing a dead rabbit made him choke up and even now he won’t eat anything that’s been dead longer than an hour or so, even if this means he has to hungry. Slowly he’s getting over his adversion to this subject.... ever so slowly.

Failure: This is something that Levi will never allow to happen to him, because it isn't an option. To fail is the same as death in his eyes, because every time he allows a failure it's destroying who he is on the inside, he would rather his life end before he admits that nothing more can be done. To lose is not an option.

STRENGTHS (WEAKNESSES):
Hard worker: this attribute comes from his not done 'til it's done attitude. One will never see this tomcat sitting lazily around letting others do his work because it would go against the lessons his mother instilled in him as a young cat. (Of course this can sometimes become problematic because he tries to take on more than he can handle and he has been known to work so hard his health is threatened.)

Speed: Even though he is a Water Triber, this tom is still pretty fast. with the long legs he inherited from his willowy mother and the muscles he gained from training with his father he covers quite a bit of ground in a short time. Even as a young kit Leviathan has always enjoyed running; the feel of it, the adrenaline rushing through his body, the feeling of freedom that comes with it, he envies the Air Tribers at times, especially those with secondary powers as they have a freedom he feels he'll never know. (As pertains to his never quit attitude this can prove a health hazard at times. He tends to very proud of this ability to run like the wind and becomes very agitated when someone challenges his skills, especially an Air Triber as he knows they're right.)

(Arrogant): Levi tends to think he's better than a lot of cats, this is a kind of defense mechanism due to the fact that he doesn't feel as though he truly belongs with the Tribe cats, despite the fact that the spirits have blessed him with his tattoo. When asked, he tends to make himself out to be better than who he really is and this can sometimes come out to be problem. As he's grown older though this trait has receded and now only rears its ugly head on his worst moments.

(Strategist): since Leviathan tends to be an act first, think later kind of cat he does poorly when trying to figure out the best way to approach something. He makes up for this in fighting situations by using brute strength. Now every now and then he does come up with a good idea, but executing this is better left to those who have that kind of mind skill.

BACKSTORY:

Kit hood: Levi, then known as Swirl, had always been a playful kit and, since he grew up with three sisters and no brothers, a bit too much in touch with his emotional side. By the time he was old enough to walk he was mimicking his father, who, as Swirl loved to point out, was the exact replica of him, especially in pelt color. With eyes the color of emeralds, his mother would tell him a bit of tribe life and how it was when she was a Water Tribe gem collector herself. Swirl and his sisters loved these moments and would gather around to here the tales and gawk at her once beautiful Water tattoo, now a dull grayish color that would later seem to represent the monumental grief she felt inside for having chosen her mate over her tribe. Once Acaris deemed them old enough he began taking Swirl out to do training, leaving Pliel to watch over the daughters. One day, when Swirl and his father returned from hunting Pliel and two of Swirl's sisters were gone. Thalia had gotten scared and returned to their home to tell Acaris that mother had gone to find the tribes. Three nights later Pliel's body was found, broken and curled protectively around Karri, while crows watched from a distance with their hateful eyes. Remae was never found.

6 moons-Adolescence: Time went on, Acaris continued giving lessons to his son and only remaining daughter, but nothing was the same. Grief-stricken their father withdrew until it was only on the rare occasion that his kits would see him at all. One day,the day of their 6th moon, upon waking up to his sister's excited meows, he noticed a faint grey mark upon her shoulder, the dull print of their deceased mothers water mark. Excited he looked upon his own shoulder and only saw blank fur. Down cast he shrugged it off, he wasn't meant for the tribe. When Acaris found out,he was furious, a wicked light in his used-to-be kind eyes that they had never seen before. With a snarl that no daughter of his would ever belong to the monstrous tribes he slashed his claws through her newly developed mark and left her there, bleeding and sobbing, only looking back to demand Swirl go with him for a training bout. Unable to do anything else, he had went. That night, Thalia left to find the tribes.

Now the only kin left to Swirl, he stuck to his father's side like glue, doing everything he said, never doubting his words. Little did he know that the dark color of his marbled fur kept his black Water tattoo hidden from view. Slowly he grew into the awkward stage of adolescence and one day, a blur on the horizon called him away from hunting. A familiar pelt indicated the form of his long thought dead sister Remae, who had found refuge with a group of cats, not the Tribes, but another group one of many loners who would help the survive. Tired of being alone he left immediately with his sister, as he couldn't find their father. A few days into their journey a cat attacked them, a cat with Swirl's pelt pattern and color. Acaris looked so different, his eyes no longer held anything but his hatred for theTribes and for them. He believed they had left to join the cats he hated with all his heart. As Acaris clawed into his belly fur Remae barreled into the tomcat who had lost sight of who he was. Swirl watched as the last of his kin disappeared over an overhang, their yowls cut short on the ground below, as a flock of ravens flew overhead. After this experience, the young tomcat took off running, his paws flying over the ground until he found his new home. The tribes.

ROLEPLAY SAMPLE:

It was hot, beyond hot. Which was odd for so late in the autumn season, but the unseasonable heat didn't keep cats from trying to catch some prey, however scarce it may be. A splash of brown moved along in the foliage, a smudge of almagated brown, beige, and chocolate fur that weaves gracefully through the branches as emerald optics surveyed the landscape, long legs lifted and carefully placed paws onto the leaf mold to keep from disturbing and prey animals that may be near by, not that there seemed to /be/ any. The Trees were silent, the birds that usually resided there had vanished, like long forgotten spirits, the scratching of tiny claws foraging in the foliage was absent, replaced by this heavy foreboding silence. Nothing moved, nothing sounded, the tom couldn't even get a scent of anything nearby.

Not discouraged in the least, Leviathan pressed on, after all, he would never admit defeat, at least, not until it was absolutely certain nothing could be done. And something could /always/ be done. He shook out his coat and ignored the sweat that was soaking his pelt through, even through it was quite the uncomfortable situation, and picked up his front paw, his hind quarters flexed to push him forward, entire body ready for that step forward, and suddenly, that anticipation of movement was shattered as a sharp crack sounded behind him.

Already knowing what was expected, his body turned, all muscles in sync as claws /shinnked/ out, and ivory fangs flashed wickedly. He pressed his flank against a tree, so as to protect his back, his tattoo lighting up his eyes and once invisible marks shone true with a blinding green color. "Show yourself." He spat, ready to either attack or relax as the situation called for. Another sharp crack, this creature was obviously way to big to be a feline, and this called for action. With a snarl of battle he launched himself forward, his lethal claws extended, ready to do serious damage.

The doe that was in front of him took off in a splay of cloven hooves and Leviathan, his ears flattened and pelt burning with embarrassment, resumed the hunt.
