========== WRITTEN TEST ===========
>MORGAN//ARRIVES

“Ah, what a beautiful day in Andalusst City! It seems like everyone’s taking advantage of it, as crowds bustle around and v-“
“Behave yourself. This is my story, remeber?”
“Yes. Sorry.”

Andalusst city. I will never forget the day I arrived. Finally did I get rid of that awful mist, and something beautiful replaced it. I’d almost forgotten what the sun looked like. But oh, the sky wasn’t the only thing worth seeing; Andalusst itself was a sight to behold. They call it a city, but it’s more of an overgrown village. The houses were far apart, and in-between, merchants and vendors competed over customers. It was busy, you could say that. Andalusst had more pokémon than windows.

“Oh no! As your team rounds the co-“
“What did I just say?”

Of course, where there are lots of pokémon in one place, they are bound to run into each other. I’m not one for walking, let alone running, but someone managed to smash their face on my arm.
"Watch it! Why, I oughta toss ya into the street for that!” he said.
He was a lanky furret, the kind of lanky that stands out at first but nobody remembers after fifteen seconds. He wore a dusty brown cap that almost covered his strangely coloured eyes.

  “Now you’ve done it.”
“Oh, how wrong you are.”

“Toss me into the street? You should apologize to your elders when you almost run them over. Although your nosebleed tells me a different story.”
"Heh, just joshin’ ya. Only uptight nerds fight over bumpin’ into each other. I like your style, though. You new around here? I’m guessin’... stepped outta the fog and got all confused? How close am I?" He wiped his nose. He wasn’t bleeding too badly, but he pulled out ha handkerchief just to be sure.
“Close enough. I’m glad to see the sun still works.”

“It looks like there won’t be any street fighting today.”
“Come on now, do I look like the type to mindlessly attack a random passerby? The thought alone.”

The two of us got going again. Either he was heading the same way, or he was following me on purpose. I don’t mind a bit of company, but this guy was off, somehow. He had no trouble dodging anyone else without even looking at them, but he did run into a large, basically stationary object like me just now.
"Oh yeah? Think I’ve heard that one before… maybe not, though. My memory’s all fuzzy after ya scrambled my brain a few seconds ago. Anyway… name’s Cuffin. Pleased to meetcha! Now, how ‘bout you tell me who ya are?"
“Ah, glad at least one of us remembers their manners. My name’s Morgan. As you guessed, I just arrived here in... Andalusst, was it?”

“Yes. I wouldn’t name my kids that… but hey, it’s a free world. So, you guys lookin’ into the guilds here? They look pretty desperate for newbies. Think you’d wanna join one of ‘em?”
“Perhaps. What are these guilds you speak of?”
At this point, I was pretty certain he purposefully sought me out. I didn’t mind, but he could’ve been honest about it.

  “Along the way, you n-“
“...”
“Sorry. Reflex.”

Cuffin explained to me about the guilds, the fog, and most of all the lack of fog around the city. I kind of liked him, although he was a bit shady. Maybe that actually was the reason. Folks like him tend to know lots of stories. Either way, he somehow managed to win me over for these guild things. I still had plenty of energy back in those days.

"Really? I wouldn’ta pinned ya for that type. I guess they’d be glad to have ya, though. From what I know, they always want ya to have some kinda “team name” to work under ‘em with. What do ya think yours would be?"
“Oh, Cuffin, you misunderstand. ‘We’ are not a team. We were once two, but I am now one. There is no team.”
“Hey, ya never know what’ta future brings. Maybe ye’ll be a leader somaday.”
“I don’t know... I consider myself a chronicler of my own history though. Would that make for a good ‘team name’?”

  “Upon hearing your proposed-“
“Seriously, get your reflexes under control. It’s very rude to interrupt.”

“Well, ain’t heard that one before. You might not wanna walk into the rough parts of town callin’ yourself that… eh, or maybe do it anyway if you can handle yourself. I mean, no doubt you can probably throw a punch, or maybe you’ve got a silver tongue. The guilds look for stuff like that. How ‘bout you tell me what ya think your strengths are, just to get your story straight for when they wanna know?”
I knew it. This guy worked for them from the very beginning. Gotta hand it to him, he knows how to get a man’s interest.
“You just literally named them. I throw punches alright and my entire BODY is made of silver.”
I left out the part where I Judge people before punching them. I prefer not to think about that.
“But mostly, I tell stories. I remember, and pass along.”

“Yeah… yeah, I can respect that. Everybody’s gotta get by in their own way, and there ain’t nobody who knows that better than me. If you play on your strengths, you’ll get far here, I bet. After all, somebody needs to remind us of our past.”

  “What an oddly sentimental moment.”
“Don’t complain now. The action comes later.”

Cuffin turned to me and stopped.
“I hate to deprive ya of my presence, but I’ve gotta bounce. I’m sure you’ll see me again, so don’t sweat it. I’m sure the guild’ll love to have ya.”
“Thank you, Cuffin. And goodbye. I’ll be looking for a good compass node around town, if you need me. And remember not to run into any boulders.”

Maybe he thought I didn’t notice, but I’m no fool. Cuffin left without saying a thing about himself. The reason why was still a mystery to me, but I’d find out. I always find out.

But that’s for another time…

Well, PMDU is a go! Join Morgan and Curie as they travel the land, make great discoveries and do other things the mods haven't warned me about.

Like #PMD-Explorers, #PMDUnity is a drop-in, drop-out storytelling group. Every so often, the mods give us a bit of story and I write it out. It's really simple.

Morgan the shiny metang
Jolly - Likes to relax - Clear body
STR 4 - AGI 0 - INT 4 - CHA 4
Magnet rise - Telekinesis - Miracle eye - Meteor mash

Morgan is the old grandfather children all around the village love so much because of his stories. He is old, and enjoys nothing more than a sunny afternoon and a good compass node. Don't take him for a frail tired man though, as he has plenty energy to collect new stories every day.

Avoid making him angry under any circumstances. He may be as slow as you'd expect, but good luck dodging when he floats you into the air. His miracle eye stares straight into the soul, and his right arm hands swift and brutal punishment. Once he locks onto you, there's no way out of taking 65 kilograms of bladed silver to the head.

--- --- ---

Curie the misdreavus
Sassy - Highly curious - Levitate
STR 1 - AGI4 - INT 4 - CHA 3
Screech - Confuse ray - Imprison - Inferno

Curie is a hyperactive little girl who likes to zoom around, ask loads of questions and generally is a nuisance to anyone nearby. Now that she finally left her sheltered archives, she travels with Morgan to see the world for herself. She is still a huge bookworm, though.

While physically frail, she uses illusions to turn her foes’ minds against them. If that doesn’t work, she retreats through a wall and calls her favourite book Thomas for help. His pages lock in their target before combusting in its face. Don't expect a fair fight against her. Actually, don't even expect a real fight at all.

Nice! I like how you turned the template into Curie's lines. Seems fitting somehow.
