A part of you

<<Michel! Michel!>>, the little filly screamed and ran over to the tall bay gelding. The cabaret gelding turned around and looked right into the eyes of three foals that are standing in front of him.

<<What happend?>>, he asked with his deep velvet voice.

<<We are so excited.>>, the little colt beside the filly replied,<<There are so many horses here.>>

<<Yes! And I never took part in competition before.>>, the Veon Cross filly squeaked.

<<And I need to be better than my stupid little brother.>>, Fumiko snorrted.

The gelding looked at the three foal.

<<And what shall I do now beside saying that you don't need to be excited or scared of the stage?>>, he asked them.

<<Please sing us a song! Pleaaaaaaaaassssssse!>>, the three foals were saying looking at him with big puppy eyes.

Michel sighed but he was unable to deny them a wish if they look at him like that.

<<But I need to warn you. I'm scared it wouldn't be a happy song. I'm not in the mood for happy songs ok.", he said gently.

<<No problem.>>, Fumiko said and took place in the sand. Alice and Toulouse just did the same and looked up to the big bay.

Michel took a deep breath and started to sing.

The foals were listening to his voice. Alice didn't understand a single word. She still needed to practice both french and italian. Toulouse listened carefully to every word. He was true it was sad but he always liked to listen to Michel's voice. Fumiko looked up to him. For her he was the best singer in the world no matter what song he was singing. In the background behind a curtain was a mare standing listening to him as well. Her steel grey coat was still a but dull but she recovered already enough to be shown as well. A tear escaped her eye as she heard him. So much pain in his voice but so beautiful at the same time.

<<That was really sad.>>, Toulouse said as Michel had ended.

<<But extremely beautiful.>>, Fumiko said.

<<Yes.>>, Alice whispered before she jumped back on her hooves.

<<Thank you Michel.>>, Toulouse said and got up as well just like Fumiko.

<<We need to go now.>>, Fumiko said and ran off,<<Thanks Michel!>>

The other two foals followed her. The gelding watched them as they jumped away ready to enter the competition and shook his head. It was now that the mare appeared from out of the shadows. Her big belly was moving from side to side as she was walking. Michel turned around as he heard her steps.

<<Why are you crying cheri?>>, the gelding asked as he saw her.

<<That song...>>, the mare just said.

<<It's just a song. Don't worry.>>, he replied.

She shook her head before she rubbed it against his neck.

<<It's not only a song Michel. It's a part of your soul you were singing about.>>, she said and started to cry.

<<Hush cheri.>>, he whispered,<<You don't need to cry. I'm fine, you are fine, we are all fine now. We have a home to stay and don't need to worry anymore. You have a safe place to stay you don't need to be scared.>>

<<And what about you?>>, she asked and dried her tears on his mane.

<<I will recover from my wounds one day. Even from the deepest. Don't worry.>>, he whispered before he lay his head on her back.
