Everything was gloomy.  The area around her was being quickly swept away, shoved into a large vortex by evils mighty hands.

The mist of the moonlight surrounded her, and she felt like her body was burning in that very same light. There was a river, she could hear it vaguely, it was faint, but its appearance near her was evident. She was trying to think of a place where a river was, but the correct thought quickly evaded her subconscious.

Was what happening?

Pain, there was a lot of it now. The amount of tension surrounding the walls within her mind was like a weapon, slowly picking away at the barrier she had built. It wanted something, to steal a memory made out of stone.

Why did it want so desperately to rip into her thoughts? What was it looking for? What would aid it in haunting her, forcing it to kiss the very fortification that constrained it?

The waters that flowed entered her ears, tried to rupture into her being as well, why did it need her?

The smell, oh the stench was pungent. There was something at a miss, wherever she was, it was a place misconstrued in time.

The smell was something she could not connect her mind to; she could not correlate the odor to anything that she had come across in the past, so what could it possibly be?
The sting…it was returning again, more concentrated now.

Yet, as strenuous as it was, Freya still could not understand where it was coming from. There was an immense amount of pain shooting through her body, but where was it originating? She could not grasp that sentiment.

“I have come here to pawn her off to you, I have gone through great lengths to build her, and now my intention is simple.”

This voice was dark and inviting, eerily familiar, was it the Professor? Had that little set up all been a plot to sidetrack her? He was her friend, her love interest, why would he say such a thing as this? It must have been a mistake.

Freya tried to open her eyes; the gripping silence was pushing a perpetual remembrance into her mentality. What had happened to her?

“Don’t be so haste in your requests, I have not even asked the lieutenant of our whereabouts; if you want more solid and factual statements referring to our deal, then you will have to wait on him.”

The first voice spoke hurriedly back, “The drugs I have given her won’t last too much longer, if you do not make a decision within the next half hour, she will wake up and take flight away from this place. She is much stronger than you all realize, I don’t know why you don’t understand. I created her after all.”

The second man, evidently a soldier responded, “I have no say in this matter, if you don’t want to wait, then you can leave. I assume he will be here within that half hour, so please try to calm your mind, you are stirring the spirits that rest here.”

“You know I can’t do that, after all that I’ve been through with her,” he paused for a couple long seconds then seemed to force himself to continue, “It’s not that I wish to get away as quickly as possible, but if she would find out it was me—I don’t know what would happen. You want her as a weapon of war, and she is intelligently built specifically for that area of expertise. However, I fear if I wait any longer, I might change my mind entirely.”

The solider responded abruptly, “I wouldn’t go back on the plan that you have made. You must remember why you agreed to it in the first place. If you don’t abide by the rules that are set, you will lose her.”

The first man sighed, “That is what I fear the most.”

Noticing the change of volume in his voice, the soldier agreed, “Then, let us wait out for the lieutenant and see what he has to say in this matter. For now, we wait, patiently.”
Freya could taste a tang of saltiness in her mouth, she moved her tongue within the cavity, and felt a powder slowly dissolving, placed tactically on the roof of her mouth.
She knew what it was, it was a drug to keep her from getting up, to paralyze her mind and body, but yet the effects on her mind were beginning to wane.

She tightened her eyes, trying desperately to think of who else it could be besides the Professor. It stung at her heart to even think that the man that was pawning her off, that had drugged her and planned this whole thing, was the person whom she loved.

If there was a God, he would correct this whole mistake…wouldn’t he?
Of course, this God never did any favors for her before, so why would this time be any different? She knew by the smell and energy of this place she must escape, but the nerves that attached themselves to her robotic limbs, were frozen and numb.

There was no hope to move in time.

She felt warm liquid escape from her eyes, she just wanted to curl up and move onto another world, a realm that would appreciate her instead of use her for their own means. The one time she finds a man that she can potentially trust, she is thwarted by fate yet again.

She must be fated to be alone, that was the only factor she could think of.

Freya wanted to be taken far away, but to a life where she would decide what she was going to do, and who she was going to interact with, save or slay.

“Freya is very beautiful, isn’t she?” The soldier said so straightforwardly.

The other man responded, there was angst in his voice, “Yes she is…”

Noticing his tone change the soldier responded, “Do you want to have a little fun with her, before the lieutenant shows up?”

The other man made a strange noise that she could not interpret, “Of course not! I would not allow it!  As long as I am here that will not happen! She is supposed to be safe, that is the whole reason for this deal!”

The soldier chuckled, “Oh calm yourself down, I just wanted to see if I could get away with it. Though, she is very beautiful and I heard she made many moves on you. How come you never ventured out and devoured her?”

The man, who she presumed to be the Professor, responded to his clear-cut comment, “I created her, I feared that if I was to do anything of that nature, it would only distract her from her true mission.”

The soldier laughed, “Okay, whatever you want to call it, sir. Though, I think I see the lieutenant making his way here, so tighten up your voice, and let’s get this done with.”
Freya rubbed the powder that was coating her mouth with her tongue, but it dissolved too quickly, and she was propelled back into the mysterious emptiness of the shadows.
