S5 Class: Eden Purification

Eden Purification Lore: Please read this before asking any questions regarding the lore behind Eden purity.

NOTES
I tried to set the class up as a semester type (not a single day), so I apologize if some things are confusing! The syllabus is for your information/RP purposes, and not part of the actual assignment. (Unless you want to draw additional artwork or include it in a comic, you may, but remember to focus on the actual assignment!)
Remember that there is no way to separate impure Eden from the pure Eden (and you don't want to!) You cannot pick out only "impure" particles to purify.
You should decide whether you character passed or failed the preliminary exam! In order to pass and be allowed to join groups for the 3 areas, your character must be able to purify a portion of eden without damaging the quartz. You have 3 tries. If your character fails all of them, he/she can still do the assignment as a spotter - help their partner or a group purify eden by keeping a lookout and protecting them.
You do not have to coordinate with your partner for this! The partner Julian assigns you is to let you know who to include in your assignment submission. For the artwork, you can submit alone or collaborate, it's up to you.
It is possible for stray animals/mobs to wander into areas that are being purified. (This is up to you - harmless monsters or not, even a butterfly can be dangerous to a person in the process of purifying eden! This is why your partner needs to keep look out!)
If you signed up late, are the odd one out, or don't have a partner... use Julian.
Your character can keep the Lace Quartz permanently (if you pass the class).

CLASS ASSIGNMENT
Illustration or comic accepted.
Pick one of the three areas to work on. You don't have to tell me or sign up, just go ahead. *You also don't have to pick the same place as your partner.*
Draw your character helping to purify the area (being a look-out is fine!). Include your partner in the image (or groups of people) because your character is NOT ALLOWED to work alone.
If you do decide to collaborate with your partner, you two must submit at least 2 illustrations or a comic.
The written exam is not part of the assignment (it's just telling you that there will be one and this is how students can fail the practical and still pass the class.)
If you crack the Lace Quartz, Julian can get it replaced easily, don't worry. Read the FAQ for the details.

If you shatter your Lace Quartz at any time, Julian will make you come to extra practice one-on-one after class (after you & the people around you get healed and hopefully didn't die in the infirmary). If you shatter 2 quartz, you will auto-fail the preliminary and be assigned only as a lookout/watcher because you have no skill in Eden purifying and it is too dangerous for you to try it more with other people around.

FAQ/ Further questions - please don't hesitate to ask! *v*

Q: Does Lace Quartz exist naturally and what color are they?
Lace Quartz was invented by Julian for this class. They are clear/transparent and do not exist naturally in the world. They are a cheaper version of Eden Crystals - If you found an Eden Crystal, you could use it pretty much the same way as Lace Quartz is used in this class.

Q: How are animals affected by concentrated Eden impurity? What about in relation to S5 Earth Class lemurs?
Plantlife and wildlife do experience problems adapting to Eden impurity. Those changes are similar to the ones listed for people - they become weaker and more vulnerable to illness (kind of like heavy environmental pollution). The area will have less biodiversity or turn into a desert/empty/dying thing because the animals and plants start dying from inability to adapt. If mutation occurs, it occurs on a ranged scale, not on/off switch like the lemurs in the S5 Earth course. For example, there wouldn't be a set of "normal" lemurs and a set of "tainted" lemurs because Eden purity is NOT a single target thing. The environment and inhabitants suffer between 1-10 on the scale if affected. So if the lemurs are suffering from concentrated Eden impurity, some could have large claws or arms or larger feet or bodies from swelling of blood vessels, some maybe would have patches of fur falling out, and some might have fur discoloration, and they'd be weaker in body, but it would VARY. The lemurs in the S5 Earth Class course are tainted by the abyss. We (scholars) don't know if it was due to going through an abyss gate, being too close to the gate, or affected by the abyss creature directly, but there was some kind of direct contact. Eden impurity is a SIDE EFFECT of the pollution GATES/PORTALS leave behind (it just happens that most of those portals are abyss gates) and affects areas as a whole/differently from how the lemurs have been changed.

Q: Is it possible to directly purify a human being or animal that has been tainted?
No. At the moment, it is close to impossible to do so. Remember that Eden purity affects organisms on a cellular level. It's like doing brain surgery with an axe. In order to "purify" an organism, you bring them to an area with high amounts of pure Eden or purify the area around the organism. Small negative effects of Eden impurity should heal after a week or so of exposure to a purer area. Larger problems like organ failure might not recover in time... so the animal or person could die anyway.

Q: What if the Lace Quartz cracks a little? Would it still work? Is it a fail?
Cracking the quartz means the lattice is cracked, which means it's useless and you'll have to get a new one. It's okay to crack the quartz when you practice. Julian can get you replacements. BUT IT IS A FAIL.  In order to pass the preliminary exam (this is the one you don't have to draw for), your character must be able to purify WITHOUT cracking the quartz. Cracking the quartz after you pass the preliminary means that you're taking on too much. You can still get a replacement, but Julian will subtract points!
