Zar'roc found Kaza three years ago, a nine year old abra, huddled under a tree and clutching a small brown bag.

Zar'roc likes the company of others, being groomed, taking baths, boasting about his “accomplishments”, and music.

Zar'roc is dislikes off-key singing, someone stepping on his paws, his tail being tugged, bullies, a one-sided fight, people that try and force their opinions on other people, being judged, being held back, and thieves.

Zar'roc has had a long history, and for the most part in his past, he was a drifter, with constant, fickle, but strong desires to try and find his lot in life. He had tried many things. He tried being a daycare assistant, but he quickly got the feeling he was suppressing himself and left. He then tried teaching others, and this lasted him about two months, but he grew tired of it as well. He drifted between jobs like this, picking up experience and honing his silver tongue. He even tried being a hero, but he found it difficult to seek out crime when there wasn't much, and nobody saw him when he did find crime, so he discarded the thankless task. However, after finding Kaza like he did, and in rather bad shape, he took him in. He had been getting rather lonely, so a companion was more than welcome.

One of Zar'roc favorite things to do is flirt, generally with more mature females, but if a boy is pretty enough and stays quiet, Zar'roc may make mistake them for a female, which can lead to an awkward situation.

Zar'roc has a spot at the side of his neck, where if deliberately scratched, he will raise one of his hind legs and start scratching himself

Zar'roc has a good sense of direction, and the absol's innate ability to predict disaster has come in handy more than once, letting him know when he should rent a room or skip town altogether.

Zar'roc believes that a healthy body is one of the keys to a good life, so he excerises plenty every day, and even makes Kaza run laps, even if he is a psychic type. A strong body leads to a strong mind.

2nd MEMBER: Kaza
Pokemon Species: Abra
Nature and Characteristic: Timid, quick to flee
Gender: Male               Age: 12
Ability: Synchronize

Strength: 1          Agility: 2
Intelligence: 3 (+2)    Charisma: 2

Total Points Left: 2
Type bonus: +2 Intelligence (Psychic)

Move 1: Teleport (Psychic)
Move 2: Flash (Normal)
Move 3: Protect (Normal)
Move 4: Double Team (Normal)

Kaza has a hard time with his first impressions, and unless there is someone making him stay there, he may just end up running away.

Kaza likes books, trees, quite places, peace, bread, magic tricks, music, sweet candies, and cooking

Kaza is terrified of sudden noises, violence, blood, strangers (Scary people), darkness, lots of people all shouting

Kaza has a few hobbies, such as reading (Oh, Kaza LOVES his books. After all, for three years of his life that he's been with Zar'roc, he spent a great portion of each and every day poking his nose into a new book, and he knows he's read stories before, because some of the are familiar to him), playing his flute (He’s not bad, but he’s not exactly the best. He's had it for as long as he can remember, but he's sure it's important), and baking. Kaza likes to bake whenever he can, and to him, bread means saftly. It's his comfort food, because you can't make bread without an oven, which means you have to be at a home.

Kaza can also take people or things nearby him with him when he teleports, so if something lands on him while he's eating pancakes, he might take the chair and table with him....and need help getting it back. Also, if he's holding someone's hand and you scare him...if he doesn't teleport away, he'll be dragging them along, even if they're a good bit heavier than him.

Has a weak spot right behind his ears. Scratch there, and he can't help but purr. Effective for calming him down.

Kaza has a fairly good memory, and can easily map out places in his head, so it's pretty hard to get lost with him around...however, he really likes to look around when he's someplace new, so you'll have to check and make sure he's still with you.

Kaza is actually rather fond of water, and as a fairly good runner (Goodness, Zar'roc made sport out of making him run in terror, called it “fitness training”) he's got good lungs and decently capable legs to swim around with.

Kaza HATES having his tail stepped on, and if you just wanna be a jerk, twisting is tail is a pretty fast way to get him crying for mercy.

========== WRITTEN TEST ===========

The sun was high in the sapphire sky, and with only a few milk colored clouds dotting the sky, it was a picturesque day in the city indeed. The streets were absolutely packed with bustling pokemon trying to get one place or another, or just chatting it up with one another. The various vendors along the streets called out and displayed their wares in a more flattering or appealing way. Zar'roc wasn't too interested in buying anything, and Kaza was completely oblivious to everything around him, completely absorbed in his book as he rode on his companion's back.

Zar'roc was also a bit lost in his own thoughts, pondering how long he and Kaza would stay in this city. They hadn't been here very long, their current lodgings were only temporary, and if this city had no library, Kaza probably wouldn't want to stay here very long. He never did very well in crowds, less so when he was aware of the crowd. He was aware enough to dodge out of the way of a Charmeleon that was going his way though, so he felt comfortable enough that he didn't have to pay 100% attention to his surroundings. He turned right around a corner where he saw the crowd thinning, deciding to explore a bit. Perhaps they'd find the library. Those generally weren't that crowded at any time of the day. As good a place as any to stop and ponder our immediate future. That fog near the city was looking less than inviting as well, so they de-

"OOPH!" Zar'roc staggered as he took a few step back, and the Furret that had plowed headfirst into his chest now laid on his back, flailing his arms into the air, equally as surprised as Zar'roc by the development. Kaza's book fell to the ground Zar'roc reeled back from the impact, and the small boy quickly reached forward and grabbed his companion's fur to keep from losing his balance. "Watch it! Why, I oughta toss ya on the street for that!" The Furret angrily yells as he picks himself up. Zar'roc glares down at the bundle of striped fur, quickly weighing his options. Raise a paw and slam his head into the ground, apologize but debate how it wasn't his fault, or walk away and ignore him. With Kaza on his back, it was probably best to just walk off. Zar'roc also noticed the Furret's pupils were almost completely white. He had seen this before in some of the more downtrodden pokemon in the cities he'd been in before. This was generally a sign of blindness, and his anger was quelled for the moment, replaced by a small amount of pity. Kaza hopped off his back for a moment to retrieve his fallen book, and then climbed back on. With that, Zar'roc trotted off, ignoring the rude, but less than fortunate Furret.
As Zar'roc marched off with Kaza saddled on his back, he quickly got back to thinking about what he would do once he got to the library. Perhaps he might browse a bit before thinking about the future. Kaza was a bit too shaken from the impact to get into his book right away, but kept the book tucked under his arm and looked up at the sky. However, the crowd around them was even thinner than before, but he picked up on a pair of hurried footsteps approaching from behind, and gave Zar'roc's fur a light tug. He turned to look back at Kaza, and saw that Furret again, only this time, it seemed all the fuzzy little guy's rage was gone, replaced by an amused smile. "Heh, just Joshin' ya. Only uptight nerds fight over bumpin' into each other. I like your style, though. You new around here? I'm guessin'... stepped outta the fog and got all confused? How close am I?"

Zar'roc shook his head, slightly confused. Was that an act that he'd been putting on? No, the impact was not staged, and that was genuine surprise the Furret had been displaying when he was on the ground. Kaza held onto Zar'roc's thick fur and ducked down a bit, as if shying away from the strange man. Zar'roc noted this, and decided to try and give him his answered, so hopefully he would leave sooner. "Well, your right about us being new to town, but that is all your right about. I haven't been in that fog, and I don't intent to try being in it. I think I saw some shadowy figure inside, looked something like a...big snake with tendrils on its back. Any ideas what that coulda been?" A sudden suspicion seemed to slowly form in Zar'roc's mind. This Furret must not be completely blind...how else would he have managed to follow him? He had also been dodging through the crowded street quite well before. Plus, he was taking more interest in them than he should have, given they were both complete strangers on the street.

"Oh yeah? Think I’ve heard that one before… maybe not, though. My memory’s all fuzzy after ya scrambled my brain a few moments ago. Anyway… name’s Cuffin. Pleased to meetcha! Now, how ‘bout you tell me who ya are?" Zar'roc smiles, but his doubts about Cuffin fellow seemed to grow more and more. He was good, this friendly act he was putting on, or perhaps this was just some random guy who easily got attached to people. Anything was possible, but the first option seemed more likely. Then an idea struck him. He'd encountered people in the city, and they were the type you didn't want to get your number. Information brokers; An integral part of any city, playing on the side of justice or crooks, whoever had the coin to pay for the information. However, if he accused him of this, he'd just deny it, and possibly get some things in place to make sure they wouldn't tell. No, it was better to play the idiot, and make up fake names, and quick. "Me? Oh well, my name is Fenris, and the kid on my back is Sam." Kaza seemed confused for a moment, but having stuck with Zar'roc for three years, he easily picked up on the small cues like this, and gave a quiet nod, committing their new 'names' to memory, at least for the moment. “Not bad, not bad. I wouldn’t name my kids that… but hey, it’s a free world."

Zar'roc repressed a glare. He liked his name, and he thought Kaza's name was fine as well. He noticed out of the corner of his eye Kaza's ears fold down a bit. That made him even angrier, but he kept the small smile. The Furret was a rude man, but to keep things from going badly, he made sure he appeared not to care in the least. He just chuckled and nodded. "Yes indeed, a free world full of opportunity. You look like a man who knows his way around the city, think there's some work around here for us?" Zar'roc made sure this was a subtle, he didn't want to outright test this Furret. The best thing he could do was make sure not to make the man suspicious of him, and then again...having an information broker in your pocket would certainly be handy.

Cuffin's eyes seemed to flash, as if eager to impress the pair with his knowlegde. "So, you guys lookin’ for work then? You check out the guilds here? They look pretty desperate for newbies. Think you’d wanna join one of ‘em?” Zar'roc was interested now. Cautious, but curious. "Ah? Tell me about these guilds." Cullen gleemed with approval, and Zar'roc knew this smile. It was the same one that a merchant had if they had a customer hooked on one of their products, and was about to make a sale. "Well, there are three guilds, if ya really be wantin' to know!" Zar'roc gave a nod, and looked back as Kaza. Even with the kid looking away, he could see his ears perked up. Kaza was very interested in what Cuffin was saying. "Well first of all, you have the Explorers Guild. These are the guys that go and explore those ruins, and their also somethin' like yer heroes. You know, big-on-justice types. Second, we got the Hunters. These are the tomb raiders, the ones hunting for the loot inside the ruins. They follow the rules and everythin', but it doesn't stop them from crossin' a few lines when nobody's lookin'... . Lastly, we got the researchers. These are the guys that make the equipment and sell things, like rare berries. I s'pose you could also call 'em them merchants if ya really wanted to."

Zar'roc nodded as he took this all in. These certainly were a varied group, and with Kaza here, any of the three were certainly possible. Kaza was a little well of information from all the books he would stick his nose into, his teleportation abilities would come in handy for moving around fast, he had flash to light up the darker areas, so they wouldn't need a torch to light the way, and he had protect, in case they ever got into a tight situation and needed to protect something. Yep, this little kid would make a pretty good side-kick. However, as Zar'roc was pondering these facts, he and Cuffin had started wandering back into the thicker crowds. Kaza once again pulled on his fur, and when he looked back, he noticed that their furret friend was having some trouble actually keeping up with them in the river of pokemon. He has to squint, and even seems to not exactly see some of the pokemon around them, blindly stumbling against them, and a few almost get his tail. Zar'roc quickly turns back, grabs him, and with one swift motion, places him on his back with Kaza. The Abra went wide-eyes and ridged with Cuffin now close enough for him to feel the Furret's fur against him, but focused hard to keep himself from teleporting them all to some unknown location.

Zar'roc chuckled and whispered "Hang in there kid, we're just helping him out a little." Kaza gave a small nod, but couldn't relax, pressing himself against the back of Zar'roc's head. Cuffin breathed a sigh of relief and worked on smoothing out his fur. "Much obliged! That could have gotten pretty bad. Getting trampled is pretty bad for your health! So, any ideas about the guild?" Zar'roc was silent for a moment, but nodded. "Yes, I do know which one I'll go for." It wasn't that well thought out, but he was thinking it would be the best influence for Kaza. It may not leave them wealthy, or take advantage of his smarts, but perhaps being well-liked by the public would help him with his timidness. "I was thinking about me and Sam being Explorers."

"Really? I wouldn’ta pinned ya for that type. I guess they’d be glad to have ya, though. From what I know, they always want ya to have some kinda “team name” to work under ‘em with. What do ya think yours would be?" Zar'roc went quiet again. A team name? He hadn't thought of that, plus there were so many option, it would take a very long time to- "Team Arlion." Kaza mumbled. Zar'roc stopped dead in his tracks and pondered the name. Team Arlion? It was short, simple, but proud at the same time. He rather liked it, actually. "Yes....Team Arlion it is!" He proclaimed, and got back to his walking, his head held high.
Upon hearing your proposed team name, Cuffin keeps a silent, straight face for a few moments. Then, the grin he was suppressing comes right out.

“Well, ain’t heard that one before. You might not wanna walk into the rough parts of town callin’ yourself that… eh, or maybe do it anyway if you can handle yourself. I mean, no doubt you can probably throw a punch, or maybe you’ve got a silver tongue. The guilds look for stuff like that. How ‘bout you tell me what ya think your strengths are, just to get your story straight for when they wanna know?”

"Well, I'm the muscle of our little duo, and I'm the talker as well. Sam here is usually quiet, but he's great at support. That's all that there is to be said really." Zar'roc had kept it short, but not rude. He was actually rather starting to enjoy Cuffin's company, unlike his stiff companion. "It's always been like that, really. It'd be a nice change of pace to actually stay in one place for more than two weeks...maybe this guild work is what I've been looking for all this time." Cuffin quietly listens with a blank face, no expressions, no grins of amusement, he actually seemed to simply be listening to the story with some degree of understanding. “Yeah… yeah, I can respect that. Everybody’s gotta get by in their own way, and there ain’t nobody who knows that better than me. If you play on your strengths, you’ll get far here, I bet.” Zar'roc slowed down a bit, taking in the true meaning of the words. They sounded less like someone trying to get to know them so he could con them later, and more like a veteran speaking from experience, and actually had some degree of faith in their abilities. Perhaps he saw something in them that reminded him of himself, of perhaps old team mates. Regardless, it was nice that he cared. Zar'roc gave a genuine smile, even if he didn't think it would be seen. "Thanks Cuffin. We'll do our best."Shortly after, Cuffin hops off Zar'roc's back and walks ahead of the two and stops. Zar'roc stops, as not to run him over, like they first did, and noticed that Kaza wasn't nearly as tense as he had been before. Had he been getting comfortable with Cuffin's company? Cuffin was smiling, though for once it seems to be in a friendly manner, rather than amusement at their expense.

“I hate to deprive ya of my presence, but I’ve gotta bounce. I’m sure you’ll see me again, so don’t sweat it. I’m sure the guild’ll love to have ya.” Zar'roc smiled and watched the Furret go off, darting gracefully between the pokemon, and was soon out of sight. He'd miss him, but he'd probably see him again soon enough. In the meantime, he had a library he needed to find. Perhaps he'd stop and ask for directions, since he had absolutely no idea where he'd ended up.
He's my submission to :iconpmdunity: . As time passes, I'll tweek this to make it better Please bear with me until then!
