more than words can express my heart.
If I have missed *anything* -which has happened before-, it's because I've missed your link in Comments or Notes, somehow, or otherwise have not had a chance to see it.

I would also LOVE to include those who sent wishes by comments, notes, and e-mail, as well, but I am simply unable to do so... but PLEASE know, I did try to reply to EACH of you, for each of your wishes meant so very much to me, also!

I wish I was somehow able to do LOTS more for EACH one of you mentioned above, for the amazing things you did for my birthday! I think that the BEST I'll be able to do is a dedication for you all, together. I hope that'll be okay.



Personal Note

As a few of you might know, I was away for a long while during much of October. Luckily, the exact time I was gone, about two weeks, was for a good reason- a vacation! The first one ever in four years time! And it was indeed a good one, and much needed, for certain. The most away within the four years, was only over one night, OR to go to family- which I don't consider vacation... *ahem* - not to be rude, just a fact.

However, to prepare for such a long trip, I was not here much at the end of September either, as there was so much extra to do, in preparing the household and many pets, to have a sitter, and in training the sitter, as well, for ONE thing.

As I said, though it was a good vacation, thankfully, returning was NOT so good at all... it was a very rocky and challenging return to say the least. A couple of family emergencies and tragedies... which are still going on and being dealt with, and for which I was needed for immediately... with one they couldn't bear to tell me while I was away, so my time was immediately taken with family.

Not to mention, I had my own health to continue with, like lab work, the work on discount and payment plans, plus new medication and medication adjustment, and on and on... with health stuff, that I dislike to get much into.

Plus, I was going to the Shelter after hours to care for a kitten brought in nearly dying, because there isn't that kind of "man power" during open hours... and during this same time, WE, ourselves, got a new dog, which we had been planning for a few months, actually, but it also so happened, we ended up personally boarding another dog, for a month, at the SAME time, which was NOT exactly planned- so we went from one dog, to three in like one day, right after getting back.


Anyway, I could go on... but I don't feel like doing it too much,- but my point being, it really has been extra difficult
to get back to both what is my own already "normally" busy life, AND to life here on dA! I'm still doing a lot of catching up, and will be for a while.
I've missed several VERY important things... which troubles me, even if those people involved do understand...

On the other hand, what a huge bright spot, you all made, when it was my birthday!

There IS balance, and with difficult times, in general, it makes you consider what there certainly IS to be grateful for!

Love to ALL, for your patience, understanding, and friendship!

New Username Symbols: The JourneyA New Road to Travel

When I was first approached with the project to redesign and replace our user symbols I was naturally quite shocked. For those of us who've been part of deviantART for a long while, changing the username symbols seemed like changing the colour of the sky, or asking everyone to suddenly start walking backwards, right? It seemed like such a fundamental part of what deviantART is that it was hard to take on board. But then really, when you think about it, the old symbols were meaningless at face value. And that, my dear friends, is exactly why we set about looking at rethinking them.
Think about when you first found and joined deviantART. Did any of the symbols make sense? Did you stop and think "what is this ~ before my name and why is it there?" Maybe, but possibly you're probably like me and just kinda accepted it because that's the reality presented to you. After a while, though, you'd have seen the * and maybe even a ` or ^ an Pumpkin CarvingHalloween is just around the corner. To celebrate, this week's feature is all about the awesome works of art made from this delicious orange fruit. Some pumpkin carvings are made to be viewed lit up, the image projected being the goal of the carving. Others are made to be viewed by the light of day and are wonderfully detailed sculptures. Lit or not, they're all stunning.

The stigmas surrounding mental illness are perpetuated viciously and constantly— gun violence, for instance is often considered synonymous with having impaired mental health. This stigma is more than dangerous; it skews the views of those with and without the condition, those who treat the mentally ill, and those who are asked to create legislation surrounding mental health.
I was very hesitant to put this journal out, but I hope that by doing so we can show that mental health stigma will not be tolerated— not while we as those with the conditions are here to educate others. So I ask you,

Ana is a super close friend of Melissa's. Ana and her mother and brother, (and only some of her cats) recently escaped with their lives, and only the clothes on their backs, losing their home and everything else to a most devastating fire.

I don't know Ana personally, but I know she is a VERY nice person, and I know her lovely group well.
Even hearing of something this tragic happening to someone I barely know, brings such sadness to my heart.
She has a long road ahead of her... please feel free to send send strength, wishes, prayers, whatever... to perhaps the most recent of these journals, or through Melissa directly, as she has been in charge of getting messages to her. Even just words of encouragement during a time like this can do WONDERS!




The South Coast Humane Society here, on the SW Coast of Oregon continues to keep me very busy... I do the photo shoots of their animals for adoptions for "Adopt-a-Pets" and "Pets-of-the-Week" for the newspapers, plus I work on the photos for the animals and upload them to their page at Petfinder.com. The same photos go their fb page. I share SOME, of these same photos with you here on dA!

Repeat business, is not even all that a few of them have done, even though that's the epitome of awesome, and is direct help. But the repeat & ongoing promotions on the Journals and Profile Pages of Philippe, Jocelyne, Cheryl, Dana, Cecelia, Sandy, and Teresa, etc. ... is phenomenal.
They have worked so hard to help promote, in addition to their purchases. I never could have imagined, not just awesome customers, but PARTNERS, throughout this whole Project.
