Watercolors are such magical media; you can try to master them but usually they have their own mind and they add little twists to your works without asking. But that’s just a big part of their charm!

However, you can always try to befriend with watercolors and learn how to lure them to show their best sides in your artworks. Here I have collected my favorite tutorials which I have found helpful when learning how to work with watercolors. I wrote few sentences of each tutorial to point out which tips I have found especially useful from that particular tutorial.

Awesome Tutorials

a) Watercolor Tutorial by JannaFairyArt b) Watercolor Tutorial by kalicothekat c) TUTORIAL :: WATERCOLOR by Ecthelian
d) Watercolor Tutorial Part 1 by ElvenstarArt Watercolor Tutorial Part 2 by ElvenstarArt
e) Textures in Ink and Watercolor by hibbary f) :thumb161413972: g)
h) Doormouse Watercolour Tutorial by WildWoodArtsCo i) marker techniques: alcohol by pencil-butter j) - Tutorial - watercolor+Gel Pen - by Losenko

a) Great walkthrough showing the painting progress from sketch to finished painting.
A whole packet full of watercolor secrets!

b) Another walkthrough showing tips for blending and a creative way of using masking fluid for background.

c) More masking fluid tips! Showing also how you can make unbelievable fine details and smooth shading with watercolors.

d) Really detailed two-part walkthrough with lots of close-ups.

e) People often ask me how do I do salt patterns in my paintings. Well, I still haven’t got a tutorial done but this epic tutorial shows the secrets of salt better than I could ever explain. Plus as a bonus the tutorial is introducing other cools ways to create textures in your paintings.

f) Lots of tips and tricks in this tutorial! My favorites are how to add textures by applying water on painted areas.

g) Such happy mixed media tutorial. My favorite part is at the end: add those sprinkles! I, however, have never managed to sprinkle anything with brush but I use toothbrush instead. Try out which way works best for you!

h) Wonderful, wonderful walkthrough showing how the magic happens when you can do it.

i) Ok, I know this is not watercolor tutorial but alcohol works with watercolors as well creating similar effects!
You can always adapt techniques from other tools and even from digital art for your watercolor paintings.

j) Lovely walkthrough showing how you can make characters pop with outlines and white gel pen.
You also might need post-processing after scanning  - this tutorial shows tips also for that.
