We Were Promised Jetpacks

In the Pit of the Stomach - 2011

These Four Walls - 2009

Origin Point:
United Kingdom

Sounds Like:
Indie Rock, Post Punk, Shoegaze, Noise Rock

Jaunty Edinburgh-based post-shoegaze.

We Were Promised Jetpacks is a Scottish band whose sound is a feisty chaos of repetitive rhythms and heavy textural depth. Their first album, composed primarily of slightly off-kilter tracks with a poppy edge, is replaced in their second release with a much fuller, dynamic aesthetic - a reversal of the evolution of The Twilight Sad, their east-Scotland contemporaries. From the first release, I would recommend It's Thunder and It's Lightning, Quiet Little Voices, Keeping Warm, and the acoustic closer of An Almighty Thud. From their second release, Circles and Squares, Medicine, Act On Impulse, Picture Of Health, and Sore Thumb are all noteworthy, but the grand finale of Pear Tree and the limited-edition post-script of Build Me A Bridge are stand-out tracks from their entire discography.

To listen to their music, simply click on the album covers to be taken to their respective pages. Additionally, If you've any recommendations based on this artist, or wish to promote some music that you yourself enjoy, please do so in the comments. Maybe I'll end up enjoying something enough to feature it myself.
