♣Hide and Seek: By sneaking into the fairy tale's dreams, in his Yōkai form, Akane is able to erase those completely blank and build an illusion created by his victim's mind. However, entering a person's dream is only possible when his human form does not take over most of his blood and only if the victim is mentally unstable.
♣ Entering Hearts: Akane's most noticeable skill is entering fairy tale's hearts with his claws, which open a portal that allows him to steal their books. His eyes can see every fairy tale book, though can only read them completely if he obtained them.
♣ Summer Haze: The power the fox was known for in his own fairy tale. By tricking the victim's mind he will find out their worst fear and place them in an illusion that they are trapped in until they find out that it's not real. Originally he used this technique to keep away intruders from his temple, but refuses to use it since coming to Fabula.

♣ Orochi: Sacred Sword made out of Yamata no Orochi's fangs and scales. Susano'o, who had slain the giant snake, gifted the weapon to Akane for his own and the protection of his sister. It vanishes on a regular basis and only reappears through summoning it by using a Tanuki fang. Its blade is said to be immune to most magic, therefore able to break it by chance and to be as sharp as a snake teeth itself. It can suck up any poison and give out snake poison.

Personality:
Akane is visibly torn between despising anyone around him and acting friendly towards others. Due to living alone for more than 200 years he has grown rude and disrespectful to most people he meets, especially humans who treated him with hate in the past and still do nowadays. That doesn't mean though that he actually truly dislikes anyone, but just doesn't know what to think about strangers from the first impression. He acts like a fox would do, careful and suspicious when meeting someone for the first time, gets aggressive a lot and mostly fights with anyone who annoys him. His bad attitude, foul language, and extreme self-confidence basically lead back to his worry over not being able to get close to anyone without fearing to rip them into pieces eventually. Honestly he is very caring and tends to protect everything that is dumb enough to bring itself into danger, what mostly results in him getting hurt instead. And he gets hurt a lot. He doesn't really ever want anything in return for showing kindness and stays with his own ways to live his life: Alone and as free from everyone else's crap as possible. Basically he does most of this to know the forest and the people in it safe to keep the Kagami Kami at peace. He usually shows every little change of emotion through his ears and tail rather than facial expression. When being with Adora his behavior can change to be very kind, affectionate and caring, though showing it when others are around is making him uncomfortable. He can also act very damn dumb.

In battle he tends to provoke his enemies to an unknown limit, enjoying the immense brutality a fight can reach to the fullest. He uses his sword for most fights and mostly keeps a cool head when underestimating his opponents as he often does. When losing control over himself his behavior changes to an animalistic way of acting, means he would fight on all fours, bite and scratch his enemies and balance most of his moves with tail and paws. In this state it takes a while for him to recognize friends since his mind turns completely blank. Only Adora, who can "meet his eyes" is able to quickly calm him down again.

When being all alone however Akane seems to grow cold and apparently holds a disaffection towards most of the negatively acting fairy tales. He makes fun of hiding their books which is the same as their hearts and destinies and doesn't hesitate to create their tasks to get them back extra difficult. He is the culprit behind the disappearance of the books and also for bringing the fairy tales to Fabula and has revealed that he uses their books to threat anyone who will interfere in his world domination plans. However, ever since he got closer to Adora his cruel self seems to weaken during most times. With the month switching from beginning to the end he still grows incredibly short-tempered and violent though and his real self, which according to Amaterasu, isn't pleasant and kind at all shows. He visibly struggles with himself when it comes to decide over other people's fate, seeing as he doesn't want to look like a monster to his girlfriend and her friends, but also can't get out of his own personality.

In the form of "Madder Red" he is violent and has lost every part of common sense, comparable to an average fox that is searching for it's prey. He in fact searches for something, it's yet unknown though for what, he only hinted that it has to do with a heart.

Background:
Akane used to spend his early life as a tricking Yōkai in a temple in the mountains of Japan. His tricks were simple. Once finding out a person's weakness he would use it against them. As one day a soldier came by and tricked the fox with his own words, he was forced to leave his temple and also his fairy tale. Arriving as the first Fairy Tale in Fabula, he decided to continue his games and began to trouble the farmers in the villages. One day, when he made his way through the Japanese Forest and back to his new found temple, he encountered the brothers Susano'o and Tsukuyomi, who he tried to fight, but eventually lost to the strong creatures. He then got chained into the temple and put to sleep, not to bring any more misfortune to the world. Eventually Amaterasu, who had heard of his existence from her brothers, decided to visit him and out of pity unchained him, then made him her guardian. She also gifted him with a human form to be able to live with him without scaring anyone who knew him from before. Keeping her from the strange fox for several years, Akane got finally introduced to Colette, the creator of the world. Seeing as she had successfully brought a fairy tale to her world, she started to grow sibling like feelings for him and from then one accompanied Amaterasu in teaching him how to be kind. Finding a liking in the little girl Akaneiro began to grow more friendly and accepting to the human world, but it shouldn't be his destiny to be happy this way.

Time passed by and after he had been accompanying the three siblings and Colette for already 300 years, the peace between them started to fade. After Colette had died through her own expiring book, there no longer was a person, who would keep the group together. As Susano'o suddenly wanted to know Akane dead, due to witnessing him kissing his sister and also several hints of Tsukuyomi wanting to get rid of Akaneiro as well as Colette, Amaterasu left the side of her brothers. She took Akane, who by now had fallen in love with the young girl because of her memory faking power called "Honeythief", which made him believe she had been the one teaching him to smile, with her. Unfortunate for Amaterasu Akaneiro had by then started to grow wilder out of desperation over Colette's dead, eventually showing up in his cursed form. More time passed and eventually lost complete control over himself if he smelled or tasted blood or got seriously wounded. At the end of every month he would turn into a dangerous Yōkai, which later received the name "Madder Red", which is the actual translation of his name. No one knew why he turned into the cursed beast, but being aware of it Amaterasu tried to keep him away from everyone by the time he would turn. Holding him dear to herself Amaterasu stayed with Akane, until he one day suffered from a deadly illness, after being shot by a poison arrow. Loving him deeply, Amaterasu fed another poison to her lover in order to murder him, seeing as he had already been weakened by the said poison. With this she had hoped to free him from the emotional and physical pain from the world, as well as saving him from his brothers and himself. However, as Akaneiro realized what she had been doing to him, he cut deep wounds into her, which in the end killed the young girl.

After having lost his master, Akane returned into the Japanese Forest and moved into Amaterasu's house on his own. Not aware of having lost his memories, due to a magic spell of Amaterasu, he continued his life alone, still trying to become more human for the girl that was now a ghost. Since old habits die hard, Akane started once again to bring misfortune to other people again, while having Tsukuyomi and Susano'o after him to stop his actions, while only Tsukuyomi seemed to be the only one knowing the full truth of anything that happened in the past.

♣ At every start of a month his hair turns back to its natural black color and his eyes stay in a yellow orange-ish tone. Like a calender his hair and eyes turn more red with every day. Once his hair has grown completely red he would turn into Madder Red at the end of every month.
♣ He uses a yōkai mask to change between his yōkai and human form, which is hidden in a chained room in his house and can be summoned by using a tanuki fang.
♣ Though he is able to write and read he is pretty bad at both, seeing as he got taught by Amaterasu by reading poems, but never got too interested in really studying it.
♣ Gets highly offended when being called a dog, since he is scared of those and won't go near them.
♣ Speaks Japanese and English. Tends to speak Japanese when upset or losing control.
♣ He steals most of his food from farmers around the forest if he doesn't hunt.
♣ The symbol on the accessory on his waist translates to "Death", while the one on his pants means "Red", together creating the word "Red Death".

♣ A song about chickens, as well as an order to lay down and count to ten are coded into his head; both help him to stay calm before losing control. They apparently were inculcated by Colette.
♣ Since alcohol is considered a weak poison Akane gets really braindamaged while drinking and even suspects himself to be pregnant. A larger amount of alcohol could make him very sick.
♣ Kitsune in his age should at least own 7 tails. However, Akaneiro only owns one, without knowing the reason.
♣ Despite being a fox he actually knows how to cook quite well.
