Description

Updated reference! :la: Old one can be found here! Also updated his plot journal some, since I've only just realized recently that it was terribly out of date! :ohnoes: Should be all caught up now, or mostly caught up (might have forgotten things, still going back and fillin' in stuff)

Finally getting myself a Glenmore! :la: And one that isn't a doe! Not that does aren't bad - but the only stag I have is Skuldafn :ohnoes: Rest are does, even little Sondryn. Hgnnnnngh Tiggs, you did such an amazing job designing this guy - I will never be able to thank you enough! :glomp:

I kinda got a bit excited, and after I got the design in the livestream, I started writing out his information and getting a lineart and BG ready for him ^^" Once the design was uploaded I filled in all the coloring, color and geno type, etc... and wrote a bit more for him ^^

Design #6 from here!

*special note, Thanks to Glenmore being crazy when it comes to relatives/family trees and everything, the list below is only a snippet of the 'real deal'. To see the 'real deal', check out his plot journal (located at the bottom of this ref -can't miss it!). His plot journal should have more information on all of his nieces, nephews, cousins, etc...
**special note x2, I also do not mind at all if you want to make a Jack sibling or relative (nephew, neice, cousin, aunt, uncle, etc...) - HOWEVER, please ask me (as well as the roleplayers of Jack's other siblings, just to be safe!) before doing this! Galmir and Atraena have specific tidbits to their characters as NPCs (such as their genos/phenos, personalities, family, relationships, age, etc...) that I'd like to keep consistent with RP. If people were to just go around using these NPCs willy-nilly, it'd get all mixed up and out of order. So please, be a bro and note me first! ^^ Also, for full-siblings, the oldest possible age for one would be if they were born in year 736, just an FYI.

Personality Traits: Determined, Loyal, Direct, Adventurous, Kind, Quiet, Rash

Detailed Personality:

Jack is a quiet stag, believing actions speak louder than any words can. Not to say he doesn’t speak - no, he’ll gladly carry a conversation out with you, but with all he’s been through in his life, words don’t carry too much weight as they once had. If you want to make an impression with him, you’ll have to show your worth - not just state it.

For a good period of time, Jack had been in a rut - hating on himself and closing all doors to anyone who tried to help him out; but through the help of his newly found family, he is shedding that cold shell and warming up once again. Now a fully-committed father with a steady career as a builder, Jack has settled down quite a bit from his more youthful days. Where he had previously been quite rash and reckless, now he’s sure to carefully assess a situation before deciding whether or not to jump into it. Well, most of the time. With age comes wisdom, and Jack has plenty of it.

Well, actually, he has “street smarts” now, if you could call it that. He just learned the common sense that should have been taught to him as a fawn (he skipped that lesson). Jack has never been the brightest - usually relying on strength and grit to win a fight instead of strategy and patience. He’s better now, but he’s no Einstein. What he lacks in smarts, he makes up for in heart - he’s got PLENTY of that. Most often, others will come up with the strategy and he'll gladly be the one to do the heavy lifting.

To those he trusts, he’s a warm, likable guy - always there to listen and lend a hand (hoof?) when needed. He’s still antsy around does sometimes, but with Maeja’s help, he’s gotten loads better. When he commits to something, he commits - and if you ever help him out in any way, he will not forget it. Nope - he always repays favors.

(He also really loves being a Dad. His family is the best family, and he loves his boys so much. If you hurt so much as a single hair on any of their heads, he will kick your teeth in.)

History: (note, this will eventually be cleaned up and condensed into an "Easier to read" version on his plot journal - so stay tuned!)

Jackdaw came into this world just as any other fawn would have. He had an easy birth to his mother, who more or less was experienced in childbearing - since she had given birth to several fawns before him, mostly daughters - and had a peaceful Glenmore childhood. It was mostly spent with his mother and other fawns, whom he’d run around playing hide and seek or “adventuring” in places already known and deemed safe to their mothers. On rare occasions he would see his father, a Royal Guard by the name of Galmir - a stag powerful in stature even while getting up in age. He had been 'betrothed' to Atraena in his youth, and as loyal as most Glenmore were by nature, he stuck with her. Never in his life had he dare have a fawn with another doe (at least publicly), his loyalty was to Atraena - although, the two were never really connected. The only times they’d ever really see each other were during the rut season (where of course, “duty called”) and on the few brief instances that he’d return to check on his fawns. Encounters between the two were strictly business, and it did have an effect on Jackdaw’s mother.

Atraena rarely spoke of her past to her fawns, Jackdaw included. She simply told them of what other mothers told to their fawns - fairy tales, legends, and the news of the herd. Dull and almost lifeless, Jackdaw never could really connect to his mother - and almost felt bad for her. From what other fawns had told him, based off what their mother’s had told them, Atraena was once a beautiful and lively doe - filled with a certain excitement that led some to question how such a tiny doe could contain it all. It was at a young age she was given to Galmir by her own father (as a token of thanks for some family favor Galmir had done for them) , and upon the right age they mated for the first time. She was joyous to have her first fawn, and hoped to see Galmir happy - but it was the little reaction he gave in the addition to only seeing her once or twice a year that snuffed out whatever spark Atraena had left in her eyes. No other stag dared to fight Galmir for her (not that they couldn't beat him, rather, there was a certain respect most other guards and lords had to Galmir that prevented them from openly challenging), so Atraena remained with Galmir for the rest of her life. With each fawn she bore to him, her hopes and personality died more and more to the point of her being an overly submissive doe, one who was only placed on earth to bear fawns. It was sad really, other mothers felt bad for her, and so did Jackdaw, and other stags simply shrugged because "that was her place, and Galmir didn't treat her badly or anything" (at least from what they saw) - but when Jack was old enough to leave his mother’s side, she let him go without any emotional attachment, in her mind ready to move on to raising other fawns. Jackdaw didn’t really have as big of bond to his mother as other fawns his age might have, but to him it was normal. The mothers of some of his friends served as more attached mother figures than his own mother had.

Eventually, with his father’s success as a guard, he was chosen to join the ranks of the Royal Guards. While at first wanting to go and get away from the Glade, desiring to adventure and see the isles, he knew it was his duty to join and serve the King - so he did. From there he was trained by the other stags and his father -on rare occasions- and eventually he got to the level where he was ready to go off on his own. Never did he really like patrolling with his father, since he was kind of a douche -plus, Galmir never was one to talk, and it was awkward walking with him- so on most cases he’d either patrol on his own or with others he knew well.

While not having a good relationship with his father, or really either of his parents, he did have a special bond with one doe in particular. Her name was BóAnn, a Princess Doe of both fair beauty, mind, and soul. She captivated Jackdaw, and because of youthful stupidity both believed they were meant to be together. However, since he had been chosen and sworn in as a Royal Guard, their dreams could unfortunately never happen. It was a hopeful thing for them though, thinking it could happen for some stupid reason, but Glenmore laws were a b*tch. Until then, he kept up with visiting her to talk and be 'friends', and also continued to join his father on patrols.

Eventually, his father grew old enough to retire, but unfortunately died from a strange illness that took him over. Jackdaw felt a little remorse for the passing of his father (but nothing he'd bawl over to this day. That man was an ass) , and returned to his old home to tell the news to his mother. She was old, frail, and sick as well - thanks to the brutally cold winter. She almost had the same reaction that Jackdaw did to Galmir’s death, but other than that was of few words and little emotion. After a few weeks, she too died, as if Galmir had finally allowed her release from her own life, and Jackdaw continued on with his duties, not shedding much of a thought on his parents after that winter.

It was at the age of 8,  he heard of his lover's betrothal - which to his dismay was to another stag, although he already saw it coming from a mile away and did not want to admit it. He did not in turn "hate" this stag - he was very lucky to be promised to such a beautiful doe like Bo, but he was very much distressed and heartbroken by the news. However, Jackdaw knew well that it was the King's choice and not her's - otherwise, there would have been no doubt she would have flocked to him.

When recent events broke out in Glenmore, the murder of the Captain, The Crown Prince's Trial, and the exile of his heirs - Jack was enraged to discover that BoAnn's betrothal, Alasdair,  had beaten her to the point of unconsciousness. He gladly assisted in chasing the 'rat' out, and still holds a grudge on that stag to this day. His father was a cold blooded murderer and his son was close to that title as well. Other fawnlings don't exactly know the reason why Jack dislikes this stag so strongly, but most assume he's just being a loyal guard and doing his duty to the Crown.

With the death of the King and the ascension of the new King, King Drustan, Jack swore loyalty to the new change in leadership - like any good Guard was to do - however, in the coming season his loyalty would seem to mean nothing. Being tormented by BoAnn's 'teasing' and the hormones involved with rut, Jackdaw gave into his weaker side and bred to the Princess, producing a small, dunalino Princess by the name of Aveline that coming spring. The only souls to know of that crime were Jack, BoAnn, and the King himself - and while furious with the act of treason, he vowed to keep the fawn safe and claim it as his own. Jack still doesn't quite understand the exact reasons for the King's kindness, but ever since then he has felt a strong guilt about it and owes his undying loyalty to the King that spared Bo and their daughter.

His guilt only grew stronger with the destruction of the Oak later in the season. Assuming it was an act of Oganach, meant to strike him down for his crimes, Jack grew especially fearful and hated himself with each day that passed afterwards. He couldn't tell anyone of why he hated himself - if he did, it would result in many deaths - so he tried his best to run away from his problems, but it never did much good. In the spring, he finally called it off with BoAnn - and since then has tried his best to move on, but guilt still plagues him.

Since then, he has developed a fear of does - feeling that siring any more fawns would only bring trouble onto them and himself (since in his mind, Oganach hates him for touchin' a princess that wasn't his). Rut is an especially stressful time, where he makes it habit to avoid any area where does might get near him, try to come onto him, or just look at him the wrong way. Unfortunately, he wasn't able to get away from one encounter with a doe by the name of Maeja, and they sired a fawn together that following summer - a colt by the name of Taegann. While Jack still feels guilt over his actions, he has vowed to stick with Maeja and her older son, Malachi, and help them in any way that he can. With his feelings for BoAnn slowly fading with each passing season, whether or not his feelings for Maeja will grow or not remain uncertain.

Spending time with Maeja and his new family has helped to relieve the stress over his fears, but those fears have definitely left their mark on him. With the growing of the new Oak, Jack became even more confused - wondering why the Gods would take something so dear to the herd, just to give it back a season later (along with a 'treasonous act' between another Guard and a Princess). All this confusion lasted for years after that, however, with growing tension towards the crown, Jack put aside those doubts to try and protect his family the best he could. Eventually, it came down to a breaking point, and he, his family, and Drustan's family split in late 762.

Now having settled down in their new home called Haven, Jack is relaxing into new duties quite well. Having never been quite into the role that was thrust upon him as a fawn, he was glad to finally "hang up his sword" (so to speak) and retire from his former life as a guard. Instead, he took up the position as one of Haven's first builders, a job he found incredible satisfaction in. With the help of Maeja (who also became a builder), and his young family, they constructed many dens, bridges, and other structures all over the valley. In 763, he finally came clean to his son, Taegann, about the truth of his past crimes (aka, fathering Ave) - who then, in turn, "helped" get the word out to the rest of Haven (he was very excited to let everyone know he had a Princess sister). Jack expected the worst to come from his revelation, but to his surprise - Aveline did not hate him. In fact, Aveline wanted to be a part of Jack's life! To say he was ecstatic would be an understatement. Jack was calm and content for many years, something he had not felt in a long, long time.

However, such peace did not last for long.

In the Winter of 767, disaster struck. Haven was attacked, and in the fray they lost three crucial members; Drustan, Fenella, and Aytan. Jack himself also almost lost his life, had it not been for a foolish Guard forgetting to "finish the job" while Jack laid unconscious in the snow, knocked out from a nasty kick to the head. Since then, Jack has been super protective of his family and his home; although, not enough to step up into any sort of leadership position. He isn't the sort of stag worthy of filling Drustan's or Aytan's shoes- he's far from their level in his mind. Instead, he keeps to his family; making sure they're provided for and safe from all dangers. Work is his best distraction

*note to self and to others, there are other RPs Jack is in, but they're not currently listed here because they didn't contribute to stats. For a chronological list and summary of RPs Jack is involved in (regardless of whether he's earned stats in them or not), check out the timeline on his plot journal. I'll be updating his ref with these other RPs sometime in the near future, but other Jack RPs can be found in my gallery under the Fawnling folder! Or, ya'know, just search for "Jackdaw" in my gallery  *

Affiliation: Glenmore - Haven Splinter, Builder (may apply for curator in the future, but for now he's a builder)
MateMaeja - as far as those around him can see. (He lives with her, has a family with her, he thinks she's pretty nice; read the signs, Jack - READ THEM.)
Love Interest: Maeja.  Also he may or may not have some bi-curiousity for a certain stag who's name rhymes with "Moostan". jk he's hella' straight, but the bromance is real.
Current Location: All over Haven, doing things that builders do. If you need to find him though, he'll usually be somewhere near their family's den.
Relationships: (can be found in his plot journal!)
