With the Yule or Christmas season all but upon us, it is high time to feature the winners of latest contest: A Creature in my House! Find the review here:

The winner pieces are just fabulous, with two of my own favourites among them, which makes this feature all the more a pleasure!
Congratulations to all! As I mentioned, the Winter season is just around the bend, and is taking a rest. But the next contest will be there with the next year, so there will be more to show!

O sing, museI fell asleep once with my memory caught
in tadpoles and roses and water and light,
in the mausoleum where bloodshot eyes
And paper meet (where ideas drop from nubby pencils,
to splay, stillborn, across a sea of white).
My pen bled circles
through my desk that night.
When I woke, you were standing
on the edge of my sight,
your eyelids trailing ink.
I watched your hands fold in and out,
The smell of words too strong to think.
You smiled at me and let me fall
into the promise of your face.
There I read snowflakes, sea-foam and angels;
flashes of of glory and splinters of grace.
I asked you in, and your words behind -
'Sing, muse, of roses and water and light,'
I was fool enough to call them mine -
My pen bled circles
through my desk that night.
Swifter Than The Day
Oh, my love; lonely is the grave.
Keep the gift that the water gave:
Silver pearls, buried once in sand;
Thread them now on a golden strand.
Once I laughed, and again you sang;
Sunlight danced, and all the shadows rang.
Now the moon shines icy on your face,
Withered flowers, torn and tattered lace.
Tall oaks grow where you laid my grave,
Leave me cold in the whispering shade.
Oh my love, as you turn away,
Silver pearls bleed silent into grey.
Autumn comes, and all the swaying trees
Rusty shine, and all their sighing leaves
Paint the world in splendor, I was told;
I see blood, crimson, never gold.
Years run on, swifter than the day
I first saw the singing shadows play
Copper-gold, the fire hanging there:
Light was caught, eternal, in your hair.
Grey rain falls, quenching all the light,
Red leaves drown, this All Hallows night.
Formless candles twine a crown for me;
King of Sorrow, lord of Memory.
Congratulations to all! As I mentioned, the Winter season is just around the bend, and is taking a rest. But the next contest will be there with the next year, so there will be more to show!

TRAVELLER IN TIME Contest Feature
A little feature around the time of Spring... yet the contest has nothing to do with emerging flowers and funny hares... it is about visions of grim and somber tones usually, as this is another contest hosted by group ~GrimGloomTale (https://www.deviantart.com/grimgloomtale) and again, it is one worth of notice.
Resuming the pieces made for the contest It seems to me that the mood and colour of most are in a way lighter and more positive than common in this group. It might be that the topic 'time travelling device' has a more positive connotation than past themes and put more optimism into the artistic process. Within the literary entries however, there are some distinctly ghas
