These what I’ll explain on Darky’s part, will also work for every Shadow. Yet, with Dark there are parts he’s not having that of good notion anymore. I hope I can give good enough explanation for these.

Seeing
The Shadows can see each other no matter are they in Shadows. Light or Darkness. Also, Shadows have much better eyesight than any other creature. They can see well during night and even better during day. They notice easily the small things like the body language and possible danger.

On Dark’s case his eyesight has reduced dramatically. He can’t see any better in dark than what Link can. He is still observing as much as possible but some small things might slip from his notion. And Dark cannot see other Shadows as long as they aren’t in Light.

But, if Dark had his full Shadow Powers, he could easily notice the Shadows and other things. He could get his eyes to gleam like the Shadows have them to enhance his seeing. The gleaming eyes is a bit like showing off that “I’m still a Shadow and I can easily use my Powers so don’t mess with me.”

Hearing
The Shadows hear nearly everything and anything. Sometimes they can accidentally eavesdrop on someone’s conversation without meaning it to happen. The hearing is probably enhanced because of their own language which is pure hissing, so they need to hear the other things from there which got their hearing to be much sharper than anyone else’s.

Dark’s hearing is still quite intact. It has reduced slightly but not that of badly that he would realize it. He might not hear as far off being conversations as before but it’s a very small loss. This is why Dark relies on his hearing more than into his eyes during Dark Link’s Quest. As he can’t see the Shadows, he still can hear them.

Talking
As it has already come out, Shadows talk that hissing language of theirs. They can talk it through mind to specific amount of creatures or then aloud to everyone and anyone close enough. They also can talk to animals without any of trouble.

On Dark’s case he has lost his normal way of speaking the language. Currently he doesn’t exactly know this since he hasn’t wanted to freak Link out by talking in all hissing sound. Link knows that Dark understands the Shadowy Language but currently he’s more of believing that Dark is only listening but not replying. Yet, Dark can talk through mind to other Shadows. His only problem is that he’s not able to talk to every Shadow around, only to those he can see and know that are close by.

Dark understands his stallion, Storm, thoroughly. Storm understand both Hylian and Shadowy, so this is the reason Dark can talk normally to him. But, there are times he talks straight to Storm’s mind to keep it just between the two of them. Link doesn’t know about this but he does realize that Dark is having bit stronger connection with Storm than what Link has with Epona.

Balance
The Shadows have extremely amazing balance. They can stand on few millimeters thick parts without any of trouble and walk forward without fearing even slightest bit of falling. They often even play on high above the ground just to test their balance.

Dark’s balance is untouched. He has equal balance as any Shadow and he uses it for his advantage nearly whole time. Yet, as his other Shadow Powers have brought out problems currently, he’s not fully trusting his own balance. This is why he balances his walking from time to time and uses any given chances for help. This little thing will come up quite soon in Dark Link’s Quest as they go through the Fire Temple.

Merging into shadows
Like I told yesterday, the Shadows can easily change from Shadows into Light or Darkness and back. It happens just by melting into there. In a way could say that they just walk against a shadowy part and just vanish. It’s like walking through an open door for the Shadows.

This is one of the things that was taken from Dark. He hasn’t tried yet but once he does try, he’ll realize that he’s not granted the access anymore. Once Dark tries to merge into the shadows, he’s going to walk straight against a wall or something, haven’t fully figured out this part yet. Though, the conversation is probably going to be something like this:

Dark (having walked against a wall and sitting on the floor while feeling bit confused): O.o The heck?
Link: ^.- Darky, what are you doing?
Dark: Um..... Trying to get into the shadows.
Link: ^.- ....Thaat didn’t seem to work. =/
Dark: *sigh* -.-‘ I noticed that.

Everything else
Even though the above mentioned parts are the main things Shadows use they do have two other things too. The first thing is illusion magic and the second is the fact of them being able to be like ghosts. Let’s take a bit better check on these two parts.

Illusion magic:
The Shadows can easily do illusions. It can be easy things where the illusions are easily to be noticed as fake ones. This is when the illusions are quite see-through. The medium is bit more harder to be noticed as an illusion but if it holds long enough, one can see small mistakes in there. Things like the illusion following the actual thing with a short delay or that it flickers slightly or it is slightly see-through from parts or something else of such. The hardest part is when the illusion is about perfect. There isn’t any of easy way to realize the difference between real and illusion. Only if one can get close enough and touch, it can be understood to be an illusion.

Illusion magic is something that even Light and Darkness can learn but not on their own. They need to have had a contact with a Shadow or few who’ll show and teach the magic. From there the they can teach it forward. Usually the illusion magic is short lasting if the Light or Darkness uses it while Shadows can uphold it for very long whiles.

The Shadows use illusion magic usually when they are in full danger. They create a copy of themselves so they could flee the scene. It is very rare cases when the Shadows use the magic as showing off their abilities or just for fun.

Ghost play:
Um..... Just ignore the name. I couldn’t come up with anything better. But, for this part Shadows can be like what Dark was during the first few weeks of Christmas at Hyrule..... Or at least when Link threw a snowball at Dark and it went straight through him. He was having his form but nothing could touch him. Yet, this part brings slight problem. As long as they play to be a ghost, they can’t attack. The Shadows need to be solid to get a strike in. If they are like ghosts, their attacks will go through without causing any of harm but neither can they be harmed with anything else than by light of some kind.
