I’ll Be There
Written By Closer-To-The-Sun (Joseph Noblit)

The blue filly was focused. Using all the strength she had, the pony’s magic seemed to be growing strong and strong with each passing second. The aura around her horn was growing and glowing brighter. With her eyes shut tightly and her teeth clenched, she continued to find more strength to draw upon.

“I can do this….” the youngster said, almost as if she was trying to reassure herself.

Opening her cyan-shaded eyes, she looked at the landscape before her. The horizon was dark, lit only by the countless stars that dotted the sky. Staring at the line of the horizon, she grunted as she tried again to use her magic to make a change. It was to no avail, however.

Ceasing her spell, the young pony hung her head and looked down at the stone floor of the balcony below her, “I couldn’t do it, sis….”

A white hoof rested upon her back, near her wings, “It’s okay, Luna. Just try again. Don’t force it to rise. Instead, keep calm and help it rise into the sky on it’s own. Does that make sense?” The older, white mare gave a comforting smile to her sibling from behind her pink mane.

The younger sister nodded, her cobalt mane shaking with her movement. She turned her attention back to the horizon with a determined glare. The horn began to cast the magic spell again. As the horn started to glow, the mare took a deep breath, held it, and exhaled before resuming with her task. Again, she struggled. The horn grew brighter and the magic became more powerful, but there was still no change. The pony ended her spell yet again, and turned to look at her sister defeated, “I just can’t do it, Tia. I can’t make it happen.”

The white pony’s eyes were gentle. With a soft smile, she spoke, “It’s alright, Luna. You’re still getting used to this.”

“But I want to be able to do it. I want to make the moon rise high into the sky, I want all of the ponies to be happy,” Luna stated, looking up at her older sibling.

“And you will, I know that for a fact. But you can’t rush learning a delicate magic, nor can you rush the rising of the sun or moon,” Celestia instructed.

“I guess you’re right….” the blue alicorn’s voice was detached and filled with sadness. She looked back at the horizon and heavily sighed. “I just wish I was as powerful as you….”

This comment caused the older sibling to chuckle.

Confused, Luna turned back to look at Celesita, “What’s so funny?”

“What you said about being as good as me. I find it flattering for one,” Celestia commented, “But more importantly, I think it’s a bit silly that you said that. I personally think you’re going to be far more powerful as a princess than either of us realize. After all, we have to work together as a team.”

Luna was still puzzled, “I don’t follow….”

“You see, while we are both alicorns and both are destined to be rulers of Equestria, we can’t do it without each other. While my magic is based around the sun, your’s is based around the moon. I am to become the princess of the day, and you of the night. We, to put it simply, even each other out,” Celestia explained. She trotted inside and up to one of the many tapestries that lined the castle hallway walls. Using her magic, she took it down and brought it back out to where she and her sister were standing. Laying the textile out, the scene of a unicorn, an earth pony, and a pegasus, sitting around a table was clearly displayed. “Take a look at this lovely tapestry. Within it, there are countless individual threads that do many things. If say one thread did not play its role, chaos would ensue. The artwork would be flawed, the integrity of the work would be in jeopardy, and the tapestry would start to fall apart.”

“And it’s by working together that we become stronger.” Luna lit up as she began to recall the story on the tapestry, “Just how it was with the founding of Equestria with Chancellor Puddinghead, Commander Hurricane, and Princess Platinum. When each race fended only for themselves, only fighting and hatred stemmed from the ponies. But as they learned from one another and became friends, they not only settled their differences, they found the land of Equestria.”

Celestia smiled and nodded, “Very good. It’s exactly like that. And just as the three pony races coming together to help each other, we need to do the same; to help and support each other in everyway possible.”

Returning the nod, Luna smiled back, “In that case, could you help me raise the moon, Tia?”

The white alicorn used her magic to move the large tapestry aside and sat next to her sister, “Of course. Now, envision the moon is right there, hiding behind those hills over there. Focus your efforts on raising that moon into the sky.”

Both of the horns of the sisters began to glow bright, lighting up the immediate area around their castle.

“With your magic, levitate the moon upwards. Just imagine it as any other object and lift it up into the sky.”

Again, Luna was having difficulty with the task. However, thanks to her sister’s help, the moon was finally beginning to peek over the horizon. Slowly, the entire celestial object was rising itself up into the night sky.

“Am I doing it?” Luna’s eyes were shut tightly.

“See for yourself, sister.”

Opening her eyes, the young filly saw her work. The white orb was up amongst the stars in the heavens. Her mouth hung open in amazement and disbelief. “We did it!” she proclaimed.

“Actually, you did it. I only helped you begin the moon’s rise. Everything else was all your doing,” Celestia smiled.

“For reals, Tia?”

She was replied with a silent nod.

“Wow….I couldn’t have done it without your help,” Luna’s eyes were fixated on the moon she had risen.

“Just as I wouldn’t be able to do my job without you, Luna.”

Luna smiled happily to her sibling, giving her a hug, “Thank you, Tia. Promise me you’ll never leave.”

Returning the hug, Celestia replied, “I wouldn’t dream of it. Whenever you ever need me, I’ll be there for you, just as long as you will do the same.”

“Of course,” Luna smiled.

With the strong bond of sisterly love between them, the two siblings watched over the land from the castle balcony. Celestia opened her wing up to envelope her sister, and pulling her close.

“Tia?”

“Yes, Luna?”

“I miss mom and dad.”

“I do, too….so very much. But it’s okay though.”

“Why is that?”

“Because we have each other.”

This was a nice sister-sister bond and it was really heart warming.
