Art Year In Review 2013

Ok, so I have seen a lot of people doing these end of the year memes, but I don't like the ugly one that's going around. It's just a bunch of ugly boring boxes. So I made my own and I think this is much nicer.  2013 has been an incredible year for me. I will do a review of it in my journal probably on the 31st. I made a resolution to make 12 finished colored drawings for the year. Well this is the first time that not only have I met that but surpassed it!  As you see I definitely have enough material to make a calendar again like I did in 2008.  Doing this is fascinating how my obsession changed.  So let's go over this.
January - The year starts with Ophidius in hybrid from thagirion.deviantart.com/art/R… He was new from last year in Nov and I was very obsessed with him and Coatls.
February - fav.me/d5vs1c0 Solan saving Cope. Sigh. A story I never finished.
March - My first and one of my best Quetzalcoatl drawings. fav.me/d5xb1ul
April - Arramon fav.me/d6085o1 Quetzalcoatl's servant. I Need to do more stuff with this cute little demon.
May - fav.me/d64f3ji The creation of Gallemotch. I had no idea how this was the start of the turn towards him and way from the coatls.
June - fav.me/d682rdw And this was the primary reason I created Gallemotch/George. I needed someone to be 4th in command to give Ophidius a taste of his own treacherous medicine. Gallemtoch was a throw away character back then. I created him with intent to kill him. His name was just "Four" for a long time too.

August - Centipede's Lament fav.me/d6jfiy7 It was in July that I REALLY started to think about and obsess over George. I remember perfectly when it happened. I was on the train on my trip to North Carolina when I had this sudden urge to draw George playing guitar. I drew a demo version of what you see here now. And I could not get him out of my head at this point. I had to bring him back.
Sept - fav.me/d6kndyd Recoloring of a drawing of Sorath. I love this one.
Oct - fav.me/d6qmoma Gallemotch is such a badass frightening monster. He is a swift efficient hunter and killer. The start of featuring him in these types of works.
Nov - fav.me/d6vbv05 Flare Enterprise Team. This drawing makes me mad only because I seem to have lost my most updated PSD file. I was looking for it for this and what I have does not have the floor, reflection, wall logo or plants. I had to download the image that's here to get the final version but it's flattened so no PSD.  Not happy. I have one other drawing from a few years back like this when I see it I only think about how I lost the original file and it pisses me off.
Dec - fav.me/d6yseyk Sueltame Gorila! Or Release me, Gorilla! It was nice to do a totally off the wall piece. Based on a Latin song about a gorilla grabbing a guy and not letting him go because he wants to dance. It's so funny. See the description for more info. For a simple drawing I LOVE how colorful and professional this turned out. I don't usually work in greens and I really like the look of it.
Bonus - fav.me/d6z4zy4 George and Leeanix. No Budgies.  I added a space for a bonus or optional pic. A 13th month. I almost named it Smarch. A virtual cookie to anyone that can guess that reference But some months had more than one pic that I really liked and it was hard to choose. So I wanted a 13th space.   Leeanix is my newest character. Created this month December I think. Will she be the one to dominate next year? I was going to use her first pic of her in the city but she was so pulled out it wouldn't work for a thumbnail pic. I think this one of her and George is so sweet anyway. I hope I do draw her more.

So there is it. Who knows what 2014 will bring. I'm sad to see such a kick ass year go, but I'm hopeful of the future and will do my best to top it.
