Welcome to Painted Desert Ranch: Kennel Division.

Click here to view more about our dogs, litters, breeding rules and how to purchase our dogs!

Our current official* breeds include: The Deutsche Pferd Hund des Krieges, Golden Retrievers, Chesapeake Bay Retrievers, and the Liath Hunting Dog.

* official breeds = our "official" breeds are our dogs that have references up and are active within the kennel.

We have "Ranch Dogs" (not active in the kennel) of the following breeds: Catahoulas Leopard Dogs & Great Pyrenees. If you're interested in those breeds, you can request me to upload their information.

To see all our dogs, see the Kennel Folder.

The Painted Desert Standard

  • Dog will be titled in no more than 3 events. Events that are exceptions are: CGC, Obedience, or Service Dog, as these are events that Painted Desert feels any dog should be able to complete. However, many times, they will not be completed unless that is the dog's specialty.
  • Dog will not be bred before 24 months (2 years) of age, and will only be bred for a positive litter outcome. Puppies should be able to pass a health test, we do not support inbreeding, linebreeding, or breeding where health effects are unavoidable.
  • Dogs should not be bred before they have been fully titled in their selected event and have earned at least Master Canine level with TKC. Unless otherwise noted on dog's reference, they should have passed the TKC Health Test prior to being bred.
  • Dogs will be regarded in the highest respect, with a high standard of care and living.
  • Dogs are bred for a working purpose, but should be able to uphold critique in the conformation ring as well.

Paw Painted Desert Ranch Kennels strives to train and show top quality dogs of many breeds. Our standards are of highest priority and any dog that doesn't pretain to our quality standard will be adopted out or kept as a pet. We have a small section of our veterinary facility set off for small animals and it is accredited by AAHA and AVMA.

Paw Regarding Breedings (General Information)

  • Our dogs must be titled and of good standing in order to be bred.
  • Any potential mate must be proven and of good standing to be approved.
  • Breedings must be approved before mating may occur.
  • There will be an absolute max of 4-5 breedings per bitch, and 4-10 breedings per dog(stud). Some of our monitored or created breeds will be available fewer times then realistic dogs.
  • Dogs must be health tested prior to breeding and litter will be health tested prior to being sent to new homes.
  • We do offer Artificial Insemination and Semen Collection services and though this are able to get breedings by deceased or altered dogs. One Semen Collection can usually provide enough for multiple bitches. AI is good in cases of dogs that are hard to breed.
  • Reservations for a litter or breeding will be taken for that breeding season, after that season has ended, reservations will be terminated. You can prereserve up to two season in advance (say it's the season 3 breeding season and you want a breeding for season 5), and so long as the breeding is used by the end of that breeding season, you're fine.
  • Breeding Reservations for puppies: you can be put on a waiting list and once the puppy is of age to breed and their seasons start, you will be notified. People on the waiting list are not promised breedings. This is simply a notification to reserve if you still want the breeding.
  • If you'd like a reservation for a puppy in a litter and not a breeding itself, you can be put on a waiting list and will be contacted. Notes to people on waiting will be sent out and then puppies will be first come first served to those noted. If no puppy in that litter interests you, let me know and you can rollover to the next litter. If at any point you want off the waiting list, just let me know.

Paw Regarding Breeding Procedure, Litters, Reservations and Waiting Lists

  • Breeding pair must be preapproved.
  • If the mating will happen as nature intended, dog to dog, a full body colored image (with a background) must be done with the two dogs that are to be bred. This can be them meeting or playing, ect. Please keep g-rated.
  • If the mating will happen through AI, then please do two seperate pictures of the dogs playing seperately prior to the collection and insemination. Because of this method, the dogs do not need to meet and can be across the country from each other.
  • Depending on the dog or bitch, additional pictures might be required before puppies are born. These are listed on dog's reference.
  • Designer of the puppies will be discussed prior to breeding approval. Puppies must be of a realistic geno that the parents provided. Puppies are to aim for a 50/50 split of the parent's traits unless previously discussed. Traits vary from color, to conformation and temperment.
  • Number of puppies will be decided by random number generator by myself unless previously discussed.
  • The owner of each parent of the litter will get one puppy to reserve for themselves. When the puppy is of age, they will go to their new owner.
  • Larger breeds must stay with us until 2 months of age, smaller breeds will stay longer to ensure health.
  • If you want to reserve a puppy from a dog, you must be on that dogs waiting list.
  • Puppies will be reserved for waiting list people for 2 weeks after litter is born, then they will be open for public adoption.
  • To be put on a waiting list, comment on the dog's reference with the following form filled out, if I don't have a puppy in that litter that is the gender or color you want, you will not receive a notification. If it doesn't matter gender or color, please note so. For method of payment, if can be points or art, I won't accept anything else. Payment required will be listed on the parent's reference. Some puppies may only be available for points or art; you can put both if it doesn't matter to you. I reserve the right to refuse putting someone on a waiting list. Not all people on waiting list will receive a puppy.

Hmm, I'm wondering what a breed this is you mentioned. I'm from Switzerland so my mother tongue is german and the translation for that would be: The german horse dog of war?
