Hello again.

This piece is my entry for :iconWriter-Guild-DA:'s First Quarter Short Story Comp for 2014.

As you may have noticed I have taken a modern-fantasy magic type story. The Chuthrid came about by splicing several different mythological creatures from several different sources. End result being an angry grizzly vampire thing.

Magic itself in this series works by using one of three things to cast a spell;

Somatic components: Which requires very specific actions be taken to cast the spell. i.e. snapping one's fingers together.

Verbal components: Which requires the caster to speak specific words or phrases to activate the spell.

Material components: Which requires a physical object to be a medium for the spell effects. i.e. Spell tags on the knives.

While I know I did explain a lot of this story I feel that;

A) I did leave myself a moment to explain.

B) An adequate explanation would have taken longer than 202 words which is all I have left to work with.

Like always there's a lot of half answered questions as well as half asked questions. I did this partially because I had to and partially because I'd like to expand on this story and the Characters at some point. So consider it added to the pile of stories I've started but haven't finished yet and probably wont.

Some of you might also be wondering what exactly half the words used in this story were in English so I shall explain. In this the "Magical Language." aptly dubbed Acrilatic is a derivative of Latin I created using Google translate.

Acrilatic: Latin: English:

Taiic'nal Brachume: Titanas Brachium: Titans Arm:

Ten'lei: Tenent: Hold:

Uuo: Uro: Incinerate:

Sou'nim: Somnium: Dreamer:

San'ino: Sarcio: Cure:

Beatae Ensis: Blessed Blade: This one I have simply kept in the original Latin seing as it itself wasn't a magical spell. (Fun fact when I originally tried to translate that Google gave me "happy plant", I'm not joking.)

Over all I will continue this at some point when I have the time, probably sooner if people ask me too.

Until next time I wish you all the best.
Yours truly.
Nicolai Grey.
