Please keep sending those notes, as I'm always interested in any DD suggestions you have. I'm particularly interested in any suggestions for upcoming holidays, like St. Patrick's Day, Easter or Mother's Day (or any others I may have overlooked).

:thumb429328653: :thumb429446994: Being CarelessThe twisting skies of the Netherstorm shifted and surged with magic and chaos. Ley-lines coursed across the atmosphere in vivid display. Flashes of ether-lightning rent the air. The nether-winds drifted over the broken, wasted landscape. Chunks of what had once been a whole and healthy world floated, sailed, and crashed into one another and around each other.
And one mere mortal fancied making this her playground.
A running leap off the edge of a floating "island" sent arcanist Aranya Ver'Sarn freefalling through space, whooping and screaming like an excited girl. Air rushed past her face, whistling by her long, pointed ears. Her spine tingled fiercely, her every nerve was on edge, every muscle tense with anticipation. She wasn't aware of her breath - was she holding it, or had she lost it? Her eyes never left her target. The distance flew by as she dropped, and in the last instant, before the last second that would have seen her falling forever into nothingness, she
Tough, Tough, And Tougher    Aim. Breathe. Fire. Merida Dunbroch was training hard in the Workshop, the headquarters for all the Guardians. She was shooting her arrows at a target in the Training Center, smiling in satisfaction as she saw that every single one was hitting dead center. She had to alternate from one target to another to prevent completely destroying the center of one single target by hitting it over and over again for hours.
"You're so boring," Astrid was leaning against the door frame of the Center, expressing her boredom dramatically in her tone and slouched posture. "All you're doing is flinging a pointy stick at a stationary target."
"So Ah 'spose Ah should swing an axe around then?" Merida bit back with a haughty glare over her shoulder.
"It would make you more interesting." Astrid grumbled, "But of course you wouldn't be able to handle an axe." The red head was only good with her bow, and that made the Vikin

February Literature NewsletterThere were a lot of exciting events going on here at CRLiterature last month, which definitely kept all of us on our toes, and hopefully the members of the literature community active and informed. Our Prose Basics Week with projecteducate was a lot of fun and a big success and we thank all who helped out with it.  We also sadly had to say good-bye to the always wonderful and inspirational BeccaJS, who left the CV team after many terms of helping out with being a voice in the literature community. A busy start to 2014, but it hopefully is only the tip of the iceberg of things to come.

Fellas World - Contest:note: Contest ended -see the winners here http://fav.me/d7cqu2v.
We all know Fella and dA wouldn't be the same without him anymore.
But did you ever wonder who he really is? Where does he come from? Why is he alone?
He is always at our side, lurking here and there, making your dA experience a little brighter and introducing you to new things all the time.
Your mission is to show us the world of Fella.
How does he live? Does he have pets? Is he the only one or are there other 'creatures' like him? Does he come from a distant planet? Is he the  result of an experiment?
What does he eat? Or maybe he doesn't need to eat at all?
What is he doing in his freetime? Does he like to cook or read a good book? Or is he more of an adventurer, exploring the world outside?
Below you can see a few artworks, that already show Fella working for dA or in random situations. Maybe these inspire you to come up with other details of his life.
4th Illustration Contest--Final Day!Last chance, folks!

Action, drama, science fiction, romance, humans, robots, werewolves... There should be something down there for everybody. Some characters already have references, but some don't. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. Some stories contain characters that belong to my friends, but feel free to draw them as well!

Discuss! You talk too much!

Last month, I asked, "What aspect of writing do you find the most difficult (planning, grammar, research, word choice, or whatever)?" Here are your replies:

  • DecepticonFlamewar says, "The hardest thing for me is assessing the value of my own work after the fact. I've had pieces I thought were awful that ended up being some of my most popular works, and pieces I thought were great that... were not. If it has to be an actual part of the process and not just choosing what to publish, editing for continuity is a nightmare with longer works, and including description is hard for shorter ones."

  • ErinM31 says, "For me most difficult is starting writing: I think too much and then get distracted and then I need to check my e-mails... It's not that I don't enjoy writing, especially when it flows, there really is no better feeling, but other times, I feel like I'm fighting myself for every line and it just won't turn out right. I know that if I force myself to work through this that I'll then have something to work with and I'll get those times that flow more often. But right now, finding that discipline has been difficult."

  • MarcoEmma says, "Pacing. I suck at pacing. XD"

  • LadyBrookeCelebwen says, "Grammar. It wasn't stressed at my school or well taught, so I kind of wander around in the wilderness sometimes, unsure of what I'm doing. LOL"

  • nightchildmoonchild says, "What I personally find the most difficult about writing is the amount of time it actually takes to get a story idea typed or on paper, as opposed to the amount of time it takes to conjure it in my mind. It gets disconcerting sometimes after sitting in front of the computer for three hours, typing away only to see that not even half of the piece is done."

  • iammemyself says, "I have two problems: planning and editing.  I don't usually have a plan when I write something, just an idea maybe.  Sometimes this causes fics or chapters to explode, to put it bluntly.  I'm usually happy with the explosions, but explosions are pretty hard to control, and even harder to plan for...  Then I have to edit it about ten times and when I finally think it's ready to go, I read it later and find more stuff I should have edited out (or stuff I should have edited in)."

  • hypermagical says, "I'm not sure if this counts as an aspect of the actual writing, but I find it difficult to organize my thoughts. If it wasn't spit out in the first draft or three, I'll probably lose a good chunk of what my original plan was. Noes!"

  • PaDiYaFLAME says, "Hmm.  The most difficult part for me would be the connecting details.  I'm currently working on writing for a comic and have many scenes planned out but it's the transition between scenes that's the killer for me."

  • Fulcrumisthebomb says, "This may seem like such a simple thing, but I always have immense trouble giving my written works a title. I consider titles extremely important- they are the first, and sometimes only, bit of a story people will see and it needs to both fit the story and intrigue the viewer.

I believe my other large problem is not constructing an overarching plotline to follow when writing longer stories. Without at least a skeleton of a plan to follow, my chaptered stories can easily peter out, or I might write myself into a corner."

  • bedroom-inc says, "I'll have to make a list...wording, varying sentences, title, possibly character creation... (I have a longer list but I didn't want to look bad.:shifty:)"

  • As for me: "I have problems with finding the perfect word sometimes. I'll have a word on the tip of my tongue, but it refuses to find its way onto paper (or, more likely, computer screen). There have been several times where I can picture a scene or person or expression (whatever), and I find it difficult to describe it the way I want to. I'm left with either using 'blah' words and revising it later, or staring blankly at my screen for an indeterminate amount of time, feeling stupid.  "

New New discussion topic!

Thank you again for the feature! :D And I tend to use the groups feature the most. Keeps everything organized and focused, though I'm not at all shy about clicking on daily deviations or "related." :D
