Description
Seriously, this game was designed, animated, and programed by just one person - Dean Dodrill. I thought that name sounded familiar...and then I realised that he was the animator of the cinematics in one of my childhood games, Jazz Jackrabbit 2! The only thing he didn't do was the voice direction and music, the former being directed my MacTheActor (just found out he has an account here because he visited my gallery when I uploaded the work-in-progress eeeek), and the music being composed by HyperDuck Soundworks and Alexander Brandon - the latter being another familar name to me - he was the composer for Jazz Jackrabbit 2! Ah, so much coincidence (or was it planned? ).
Everything about this game is spectacular - the animation is so smooth, the voice-acting is better than what you might expect from any indie game! (I've watched literally every behind-the-scenes video of the voice acting and interviews after I completed the game ) The story was so touching...I held back my tears at the end. It was a sad, but well-executed ending. Well-played. :')
Also, fun fact: The music of "The Glade" level is actually a remix of one of Alexander Brandon's old works, "Torg" from a game called "Dark Vegeance". (Link: www.youtube.com/watch?v=2XNKcv… ) Amazing, I never would've expected that. Alexander Brandon has a really unique style which I love~
As for gameplay, I really liked the combat (Fidget + Dust Storm has become a signature attack to me ), as well as the platforming and tons of areas to explore. It complimented everything I liked about my favourite genre of videogames (action-adventure, platforming, some form of story).
Swell job, Mr Dean Dodrill. You and your creations will always be my biggest inspirations for years to come.
To the rest of the awesome people who have helped with the production of the game: Thank you, from the bottom of my heart.
This is my first time attempting such a background! I tried to follow the style of the trees in Abadis Forest. AHRAH (THE COMB SWORD) WAS SO DIFFICULT TO DRAW. I really liked how Dust and Fidget turned out, though I hope Dust hasn't sprained his back yet!
Time taken: 20+ hours The background took 8 hours I think.
This artwork is part of a big project I'm working on as a tribute to the videogame characters of my life, which I hope to complete before school starts in April.

So, what exactly is Dust? I could never figure out what animal he was supposed to represent?
