:star: :star::star: IMPORTANT NEWS  :star::star::star:

I'm going to be out of town until the middle of March.  I can't guarantee I will be able to be contacted until then.  But I'm not going to leave you all hanging with an old prompt.

Now then...

A piece of advice I give to people who seem to have confidence problems when it pertains to their writing is to not compare themselves to anyone else.  Doesn't matter if it's another deviant, a classmate, sibling, hero, rival, etc -- I don't think it's particularly helpful to be competitive when something as subjective as art is the focus.

PROMPT

1.  Your Main Character is really good at ______________.

:bulletred: It must NOT be something you are really good at.
:bulletred: It must NOT be something you are really bad at.
:bulletred: It must NOT be writing.

So pick something for your Main Character to be an expert about.  The more unique, the better.  Take time to think about this, it is important.  Write down 10 ideas, list them 1-10.  Go to Random.org (www.random.org/ ) and pick the 5th number that comes up.  Honor system is in full effect.

2.  Your Main Character meets someone who is better at _________________ than they are.

Someone can be anyone.  They can be linked to your Main Character any way you'd like.  Rival, best friend, stranger, idol, co-worker...

TO CONSIDER

How does the activity your MC excel affect their personality?  Is it a defining element to who they are or do they take it for granted?  Are they easy-going?  Competitive?  Passive-aggressive?  Will they be okay with 2nd place or do they have something to prove?

What could possible motivations be?  Are the Main Character's goals internal or external?  What do they have holding them back from accomplishing this goal?

Brainstorming -- I love it.  I could do it all day.

THE REST

:bulletblue:  This should be written in 1st person where the Main Character is also the narrator.  I want to read the story in their voice, not yours.  Make your MC do the things they'd do, not you.
:bulletblue:  2500 words max.  Due March 31, 2014.  Link back to the prompt in your artist comments.
