Lego MOC: Bayb33 B0t

About The MOC
Bayb33 B0t is a MOC that I built rather quickly through getting distracted with the idea of "could I make a SNOT cube out of brackets?" I got that built pretty quickly using black ones and tiles to smooth over and connect the two places its needed.  From there I thought a little cube figure would be cool so I started using my new Mini-Ball-and-socket^{_{(there are many variants beyond these two)}} pieces to craft limbs off of my SNOT cube. I grabbed "girly" colored parts to flesh out the MOC just because its abundant in my collection thanks to the Pick-A-Brick wall at my nearest Lego Brand Store. I then went back and took out as much black as I could(with the brackets) and made sure to arrange the ball and socket parts in a way that made a color scheme. Thus Bayb33 B0t was born.

This marks my first Mini-MOC to not be an animal(not counting Snipikoma since its just an alternate of Snip). I'm calling this MOC "Bayb33 B0t for a couple reasons, Firstly for its color scheme. Just seems babyish and girly(girly as in market enforced gender norms) to me, and mostly because this MOC makes heavy use of many of lego's newer elements to be produced. The brackets used here are from 2002 onward but many of the variants of brackets are very recent(2012 or newer). I also made use of the ball and socket parts which have just been released this year. Then there's also a couple "baby bow" pieces as Caperberry calls them on its feet. Given the abundance of the many new or more recent parts, I felt the name was appropriate. The bottom right shot of the detail panels is of the cube and how I achieved that. I don't typically include shots showing inner designs but since this one is so simple and its a core aspect of the MOC that got covered up I felt like showing it.

A Bayb33 B0t is a small robot unit designed for multipurpose use in the home of humans with infants, toddlers or small children. These robots are designed to entertain children and act as a "smart look out" for the parents. They're not equipped to actually care for the children themselves. Though there are many protocols written into their programming to protect a child if they are perceived to be in danger or likely to harm themselves. This particular Bayb33 B0t unit was undoubtedly the possession of a little girl since it has a typically "girly" color scheme. Bayb33 B0ts can come in a variety of colors as well as custom colors and print designs to suit the child's or parents tastes, though this one is a standard girl unit. The most common Bayb33 B0ts are all gray though as to be gender or theme neutral.

This particular Bayb33 B0t was abandoned. Its companion child or family most likely outgrew this unit's needs or capabilities and sold it off or simply threw it away. Because Bayb33 B0ts are designed to interact with small children they have a childlike AI personality themselves. Being abandoned like it was this triggered it's AI to become hyperactive, even overwriting some of the other protocols within its programming to really become more like a baby itself. She wondered around for a while lost and scared before being discovered by 5pr1nt3r and the rest of the gang. Being the scout for the traveling party(grayskayl and Snip, Rodney is a friend but doesn't travel with the group), he's often the first bot to run into other robots first. This also made him the one Bayb33 B0t latched onto first(literally and figuratively). While shes accepting and friendly towards all non hostile creatures, such as its protocol, she favors 5pr1nt3r heavily. The two can often be seen holding hands while they walk about or 5pr1nt3r carrying her. Bayb33 B0t doesn't have any intrinsic purpose within the group, unlike Grayskayl who diagnoses, fixes, maintains, and often liberates many of the robots that end up joining the group, or 5pr1nt3r who serves as a lookout or scout and for now, is the primary protector of the group, She is a companion bot and keeps everyone company, including snip who ends up playing babysitter to her while the other two must conduct business or be separated. Bayb33 B0t under no circumstances likes to be left alone, she will create quite a fuss and commotion if left alone. In this situation, most humans and possibly even other robots would simply power her down, but the group has a rule amongst itself: Never shut down a fellow bot unless necessary(i.e repairs, updates, upgrades). So the group simply minds her like any other child.
