Bloodline: 100% Blackwood

Magic Type: Black

Sexual Orientation:  Sexual Orientations - Heterosexual by TwinkJinx

Appearance:

Build:
Huge broad and impressive, Hagen sure was a sight to behold in his younger years and still hold a certain imitating air about him. He has a very broad neck and due to his bad leg, his front half is, of course, quite beefy due to carrying the majority of his weight. He has large hooves and generally is fairly well fed for a Blackwood. His tail is a mere stump, having been biten off by the bear mother that almost took his life.

Rack:
Hagen's rack is, like the rest of him, large and broad. It sprouts three long tines on each side and one down to his nose, like a shield protecting his face. He makes sure to sharpen the tines of his rack on rocks every autumn, turning them into razor sharp knives.

Hair:
Unfortunately Hagen has a head of soft, small curls, which very easily felt and so soon turned into dreads. He doesn't care though, but actually likes them quite a lot.

Eyes:
The stag's eyes sparkle with cunning and snark, it's clear to see that he doesn't live up the cliché of the big, dump brute. His eyes give away his high intelligence and also always have a spark of tease and humour within them.

Coat:

Hagen is covered in hard, thick hair that's anything, but soft. It however keeps him warm and protected perfectly.

Scars:
The large stag has only one scar - a huge gash on his left hind leg from a bear attack. The bear lived him crippled forever, but he long has overcome his depression about it, learning that after his warrior days were over, he was strong enough to rise up to the top again as a witch. He somehow is even grateful, by now.

Accessories:
- none -

Voice Actor:
Samuel L. Jackson

Companion:
- Crow, a female raven

Personality:

Humorous|Fatherly|Dirty|Honest|Cunning|Respectful|Snarky

Hagen hardly takes anything really serious. Sure, he knows when things need to be approached with a solemn mind, but that still won't stop him from throwing in a joke or two. His humor is often dark and teasing, loving to mock and test people, just for the fun of it. He can be quite an annoying bastard at times, making others feel like fools on purpose, just to amuse himself.  He also has the habit of giving literally everyone he meets a nickname and pretty much only refering to them by it afterwards.
Deep inside, Hagen is a very caring and fatherly stag. He just can't help, but care, even if he often pretands he doesn't. He just wants to help others find their path in live and is always willing to offer advice or simply a shoulder to cry on, even if it might end in teasings and mockings, eventually his intentions are always good. The large stag also loves all his fawns ans they (as well as their mothers) know, there will always be a place for them in his cave and heart.
Dirty old man, Hagen always has some naughty little punch-line to offer. He loves dirty jokes or comments and cares little about the company he is in, when throwing them around. So his kids grow up with quite some dirty talk flying about. He also can be quite a potty mouth, cursing and swearing like a sailor, especially when he's angry or frustrated.
Hagen is an honest stag, sometimes brutally so. He does not sugarcoat things and even if he's not shy to lie somebody straight in the face, he prefers to tell his opinion just the way it is. He is proud and does not grovel, ever and to nobody. He will also tell does, if they are being annoying in his eyes or if an idea is stupid.
Cunning, smart and shrewed, it's hard to trick Hagen or talk him into things. The stag already has enough experiance to not easily be fooled. He always has a plan and two more ready and if those fail, well, he might just have to come up with something new. He's got a creative mind and a daring nature, so if Hagen set himself upon something, he usually gets it to work out.
Born and raised in Blackwood, Hagen of course is very respectful towards does especially, well, as respectful as this stag gets. His playful rebellions, disobidience and insults however are never bellow a certain line and does also seem to catch this. There are also ones, who actually like him for his hard-headed nature, that however is always just part of a little game of power. Hagen just likes to play. Earning his respect is only to be earned by being willing to play his games, too.
The large stag can be awfully snarky, if not to say plain mean. He's nastiest, when he won't get his mushrooms and herbs, mostly due to the pain he constantly is in, thanks to his bad leg. He however will also snark at people he deems stupid, which are mostly stags from other kingdoms. He values brain and easily gets frustrated by people who don't know how to use it, but think they do. Funn enough, he gets very gentle with people who are, in fact, a bit on the simple side and also aware of it.

Significant Relationships
 Isa
His mate and lover. Hagen adores Isá and is not afraid to let her know. She's the only person, whom he never gave a nickname, because she respects her too much for it. Her calm, quiet attitude fits perfectly to his more out-going one. She's keeps him grounded and he loves her for it. Hagen would, quite literally do everything for Isá.

Bastian - 'Boy'
Hagen's son. He came to stay with him and Isá after the passing of his mother. He often pretands to be hard and unforgiving, but Hagen knows of his soft and poetic core. He loves his son a lot and hopes he'll find his place in the herd eventually.
Charon - 'Floppy'
Charon is a bit of the odd one. His birth was hard and when it looked like he wouldn't survive, Hagen pleaded Ùir to save him. It seemed to have worked and more, for the sweet, gentle colt sure has some pretty stunning abilities.
Thanatos and Hekate - 'Shrimpy' and 'Snake Eyes'
The "twins", with Thanatos adopted from Thalia, when the young mother died giving birth. Atos may be small and quiet, but like Isá is strong in a different way. Hekate is Hagen's pride and joy, after all, she is a filly and by Ùir, she knows what she wants.
Skoll - 'Lucky'
Hagen and Skoll are friends since a long time. He trusts the younger stag and sees him as one of his clostest friends. It fills Hagen with pride, to see how he grew from hot-headed teen to a respectable, strong stag and King of Blackwood.

History:

When Hagen was a young stag, he was everything a good stag of Blackwood is supposed to be. He was cunning, he was strong, he was ruthless, he was admired by many does and had the respect of many stags. In his younger years, he was known as an extraordinary fighter, who knew like no other to use both, his strentgh, as well as his cunning to defeat an opponent. Despite being in favor of most of the few does that can be found in Blackwood, Hagen still ventured to bring does from Glenwood and Silverthorne as well. He mostly did it as a sport, to show the other stags he could do it and show the Blackwood does, he also had other means to come by female company, if they would not want him. Well, quite a lot of does wanted him, anyway. He even hardly needed to ask the shamans for their magic, when it came to making the foreign does stay with him, after a little while he usually had managed to manipulate and talk them into staying with him, the strongest, cleverest, best stag they could ever get, voluntary.
He faught many wolves and even was rumored to having faught a bear, which also earned him a lot of respect within the herd. He never was an overly religious stag, but he definitely felt Ùir had ment it very well for him and he would be strong forever.
However, he soon came to realice that a mere stag knows actually very little of Ùir's ways.
One day Hagen looked to fight a bear all on his own, because he felt he needed to show just how strong he was, by fighting the most dangerous animal all by himself. He ventured into the territory he knew a bear lived in, seeking for the animal everywhere, until he reached it's den. He didn't want to kill the bear in his sleep, for that would be cowardly, so he began making a lot of noise, in hopes to make the bear come out and indeed, something eventually came running out of the cave, Hagen already greeting it with his well-sharped horns and it indeed was a bear that came running straight into the deadly points of his horn. A frightened, hysteric bear cub!
Hagen was startled, having the cub impaled on his antlers he stood there, when the dieing cubs wailings made the mother return. She took Hagen compleatly by surprise, yet he was well prepared. Then again, he obviously was not prepared for the wrath of a mother!
The mother bear faught, like nobody had ever faught him before, it went to far, the deep hidden instinct of taking flight before you die kicked in and Hagen wanted to bolt, yet, the infuriated bear did not let him go. She managed to grab him by the hindleg, pulling him back and mauling the tigh with her teeth and claws, as well as biting his tail off. In a finally struggle, Hagen managed to spin back and ram his sharpened hirn into the bears neck, killing her.
He lay there, bleeding, ready to die . . . but he didn't. He survived. He survived, but his left tight was utterly mauled, never to be used properly again. Hagen eventually deciding it was actually Ùir's punishment, for not only killing a mother's child, but also shaming her by almost running away.
When the he realized he would never heal completely, he left the herd, because he knew as a cripple, he would only Lure predators towards them. He had to dwell on his own, away from the herd, in the very cave the bear that had distroyed his life. Predators keep bothering him, because they see his strong limp, but Hagen still won't stop fighting them, for he sees it as a part of his punishment to survive, until Ùir decides he was punished enough and won't let him win yet another fight in struggle to survive. He believes strongly in her having a plan for everyone, him included.
758: Hagen decided that he can't forever stay in his cave an drown in self-pity, he begins training his magic a lot harder than he did before and begins getting an actual grasp on it. He travels near to the Silverthorne border where he meets a young doe and shares a night with her, later he meets a lost Blackwood doe, Isá, who is suffering from the loss of her son. Haunted by his spirit she doesn't know where to go. Hagen decides he needs to help her return to reality. They escape two Silverthorne soldiers and make their way back to Blackwood. Hagen keeps caring for her and helping her recover from her loss.
759: Saving the young Silverthorne traveller, Alia, Hagen is given a little fire for his cave as a thank-you for his services. Later he runs into the young doe, Thalia. They immidately have a connection with each other. Hagen agrees to escort her back to her home in Glenmore. Upon returning home Isá claims him as her's and, ready for another fawn, chooses him as the sire. Hagen is glad for the honour and finding he managed to help Isá back to reality from her sufferings. In winter he meets the stag Brynmore, who is wounded and not sure what to do with his future life after his mate and children left for Glenmore. Hagen helps him regain some confidence in himself
760: Hagen and Isá's son, Charon is born. It is all very dramatic. The Mother is called upon. The babe survives, yet Hagen keeps having an odd feeling about that night. In the end however, both are just glad for their healthy colt. Later that year Hagen's older son, Bastian comes to the cave and tells the sad news of his mother passing away. Hagen and Isá agree to take the young buck in and raise him as part of their family. Thalia returns with the wish to bring a wolf skin for a little colt in Glenmore. During her stay she however falls in love with the young stag, Maugrim. Her father, Aytan believes his daughter to be kidnapped and runs to safe her. Pleading to help him return safely, once the situation is made transparent, Hagen helps Thalia and Skoll return Aytan safely to Glenmore. He also meets the Oakfern outcast, Ysabeau, who wishes to join Blackwood. He agrees to vouch for her, if she survives the Trial of the Mother. Thalia gives birth to little Thantos, but dies during childbirth. Hagen and Isá take the fawn in as their own.
761: Hagen and Isá's second fawn is born, a daughter they name Hekate. She drinks together with Thanatos, they grow up as 'twins'. Skoll brings the young cross-doe, Nierka to him, he gives her some herbs to help her gain some strength. Later he decides to go to Glenmore, where he meets the herbalist doe Orba and a very interesting young princess, Myrna, whom he recruits as a sneaky little spy for Blackwood. He feels it's a pity the little spunk potaoe is such a paleface. In autumn he's back in Blackwood and begins teaching young witches, as well as he's approached by the doe Ida, who requests a fawn from him. He gladly oblidges. He also helps the colt Giblit confirm he owns a possession charm and promises him further lessons.
762: Ysabeau returns to him, informing him she survived and Hagen congratulates her to the Mother's approval of her stay in Blackwood. Hagen vouches for Ysabeau in front of Skoll, the former Oakfern doe is thus granted free approach of the herd. Near the Whitepeak Hagen saves the son of his former student, Brago. Isá and him nurse Noctis back to health. Giblit returns after passing his coming of age ritual. Hagen is proud of his success and teaches him some more. Isá's friend Zahira approaches him very late in rut and asks for a fawn. Hagen is glad to be of service, yet is not sure, if it's not already too late in rut. He is not aware of the breeding actually taking and Z bearing a piebald colt in Glenmore, to his information it was too late, Z was no longer in heat and the breeding never took.
763: Hagen happens to sumble across the lost filly Rentahait in the forest and saves her from a wolf. He takes her in and later discovers the filly has been curse to eternal dependance by her mother. Like that she can't survive in Blackwood. Hagen and Rentahait decide on a daring plan to safe her from the curse. He also was lucky and got claimed by three does, one of them beeing Zahira. He hopes this time they were still in time and he'll be able to give her the filly, she desires that much.
764-768: Hagen spents his time mostly teaching others and helping out with his vast knowledge and experiance. In 765 his son CHaron vanishes for a season, when he returns he brings a dead bear and a message - he claims to having become the chosen Preacher of Ùir. Hagen has always known Charon is special and so is glad when the herd accepts his proposal and Charon officially becomes The Preacher of Ùir. Hagen himself has a humble time mostly, he watches his children grow up and is very glad when Bastian becomes a raider, Thanatos aspires to become a travelling Field Medic and his precious girl Hekate chooses to become a witch. Isá and he know they're very lucky to being blessed with such great children. When the Pale Caves burn down in 768, Hagen helps caring for the injured fawnlings.
A big turn happens when almost out of the blue Zahira steps down from her position as Elder Wich, due to having found herself developing signs of Witch's Malady. Hagen ponders about maybe trying for the position himself.
769: Hagen becomes the new Elder Witch!
