_{note: I'm a bit of a newbie to rping but I'll do my best!
writing skills aren't my strongest point but I'm hoping to work on it

absentminded | cheerful | messy | naive | easily flustered

absentminded: Caitlyn is generally a space cadet and will day dream, go off on tangents and get easily distracted by her surroundings. She doesn't mean any harm when she forgets a name, face, or where she put her books. That's just the way she is. She might even greet your pet by your name on accident on a regular basis.

cheerful: Caitlyn is happy-go-lucky and has a firm belief that everything is going to turn out alright. The thing is she usually has no basis for this belief, and doesn't really have a game plan to make sure everything is going to turn out well.

messy: Following the absentminded trend, Caitlyn leaves a trail of miscellaneous items as she goes around, much like a fairy scattering pixie dust as she flies. She'll leave behind her quill at the library, drop her hair tie while going to the next lesson, etc etc. It's a special day for her when she remembers to brush her hair in the morning. Needless to say, her hair is usually quite tousled.

naive: Caitlyn hasn't seen much of the world, and much of what she knows is snippets from the news and tidbits she's picked up from family. Hence, she usually doesn't have informed opinions on things outside academia. You could say that she doesn't have much common sense or street smarts, but she's working on it!

easily flustered: Caitlyn's life has been smooth sailing so far, so when things don't go right she isn't quite sure how to deal with it. She's sure that in the long run things will work out fine, but in the present, she will panic a bit in new situations. Things like mild teasing even will unbalance her.

Caitlyn is a bit small for her age, but she might be gearing up for a growth spurt with the amount of food she consumes. This little girl is always hungry and you can usually find snacks in her bag, but good luck asking her to share. On the flip side, if you offer her something delicious, she'll probably love you for life.}

_{Background

Before Hogwarts / Family
Caitlyn has basically been home schooled all her life. She was a late surprise baby with an older sister who is 9 years older. Her parents are both academics interested in the history of ancient runes and have always been wrapped up in their research. Their attitude towards both of their children could be described as hands off. From an early age, both siblings were mostly left to their own devices while their parents worked on translations or research. Both parents would keep the children clothed, fed and bathed most of the time. Mr. Davies was the main caretaker and more organized one while Mrs. Davies was often totally absorbed in her work (Not that either of them was particularly organized). Mr. and Mrs. Davies are both actually moderately well known in their academic circles, both being prolific writers, but no one outside of their particular field would recognize their names.

Caitlyn's childhood wasn't a lonely one because she wasn't the type to crave constant attention, and her parents didn't totally neglect her. She entertained herself, mostly with books or harassing going on adventures with the family's sweet tempered old dog (Bobby). As a result, she often has her head up in the clouds, or nose in some book. At the same time knows how to care for herself practically (laundry, cleaning, cooking) because her parents weren't the most dependable in that area. She actually wanted to take Bobby to Hogwarts with her, but Mr. Davies intervened in time to save the poor dog some grief. She's currently on the lookout for a new animal friend to accompany her!

In relation to her sister (Jaclyn), Caitlyn was only 2 years old when her sister was accepted into Hogwarts. So the sisters aren't too close, as they only met during the holidays. Currently Jaclyn is following up in her parent's footsteps studying ancient runes in some remote location. While the sisters are not close, they do exchange letters and Jaclyn often sends Caitlyn little souvenirs from her trips. Caitlyn's only complaint about her sister is that not all these souvenirs are edible.

Mr. and Mrs. Davies went through the Hogwarts process 9 years ago with their very sensible first daughter, and Jaclyn was able to sort out all the necessary purchases without much trouble. Caitlyn on the other hand had a bit more trouble, as seen by her oversized sweater (she insisted on taking Jaclyn's instead of buying a new one). Her headband was a gift from Jaclyn, who may have anticipated that her little sister may need something to control that mop of hair}

_{Acceptance & Hogwarts first years
It was slightly surprising to the Davies' couple when Caitlyn received her owl to Hogwarts. They had forgotten that Caitlyn was nearly 11, having thought of her as their baby for so many years. Her sister Jaclyn was away on a research expedition at the time, but she was the most helpful one in the process of getting Caitlyn ready for school, having graduated from Hogwarts a few years prior. Caitlyn had a vague idea that school would come around at some point, but because her parents hadn't expected the owl, she didn't either.

After the initial rush to get shopping and preparations done on time (and some minor trouble with directions), Caitlyn finally arrived at Hogwarts. Both of her parents and her sister had been sorted into Ravenclaw, so her Hufflepuff ranking was a bit unexpected, but not unwanted. She was excited to meet new people and start school, but quickly found that classes were not all the fun that she had imagined. Her first year was spent struggling for passing marks for most subjects. Gradually she became more accustomed to classes, and her second year went a bit more smoothly. She still isn't a top student and still gets in trouble for day dreaming in class, but she's trying hard!
