An Important Matter

Hey guys. I know I haven’t posted anything new lately and that I’ve been kind of inactive, but I’m here today to talk about a rather serious matter.

Some of you who have been following me more closely know that I have been writing a book. I don’t have a title yet, but I have managed to write 32 pages in 22 days disposed in three chapters. The book is still in its early concept and at the very beginning, to the point I could still change basically anything.

I recently received a comment from Mishigu that made me realize exactly what I was doing (and thank her for that).

Basically all of the characters of the book (except for some distinct ‘figurants’ and some characters that I already had) are based off from adopts I bought or traded in the last weeks and months. Some are made more clear than others, some are not.

The question here, is: as it is a book, that may or may not come to public one day, and that may or may not generate some profit, I need to ask for permission for this kind of usage from the original designers.

I’ll give one example on how the characters are being portrayed (the original book is being written in Portuguese, and this part was poorly translated by… me), showing you guys the first time the ‘twins’ (as the protagonists) come into the scene:

”Hektor faced her for a moment. What was she trying to mean by that? He was half way into asking, however, when suddenly the back door opened once more with a creak and two silhouettes came running from inside.

At the first look, any passerby would think they were looking at a mirage, two identical girls in all aspects. Looking again, however, anyone could note the subtle differences, starting by the fact that they weren’t girls, and mirages much less. The twins came jumping at Hektor’s direction, smiles from ear to ear showing on their rounded and colored faces. Much clear and pinky skins, their straw colored hair shining like some kind of bijou in the morning sun. Their eyes were big and watery like two floating sapphires under the long eyelashes, shining like water mirrors. They were identical copies, inseparable.”

 

For those of you that don’t know, these ‘twins’ are Erin and Arie.

They were adopted from different people as completely different characters. Hektor is a character of mine, that will be showing up in yet another book, and the woman he was talking to it’s not very important as she is just a light ‘figurant’.

 

As you can see, the description I provided matches the characters’ looks. I did not tell the clothing they were using, nor the hairstyle, but a rather ‘superficial’ description, in which I could be portraying any character.

However, I felt compelled to ask:

 

– If I bought a character from you, could I make such usage? For a book, in which I would depict the character the best way I saw fit, give him/her a personality and use them in various scenes, from normal, light and even ‘ecchi’ (you can include yaoi and/or yuri too)? And, knowing it is a book, and that I could possibly make profit from it…?

 

Let me be clear, that I will not, in any way, make illustrations of them in the book. It’s just words and nothing more. Drawings of scenes/fanart of them will be uploaded in my gallery, having or not links with things that happen in the book, and those will be public for everyone to see with due credit if you want to.

I won’t print or sell their designs, nor make profits from drawings made of them, even by modifying their looks to the point they are unrecognizable. The only thing I’m asking, as stated above, is:

 

– Can I write a book about the character I adopted from you?

 

They’ll be described the same way as the twins above and nothing more.

Please, if you are ok with those terms, I’d like you to comment below or send me a note. Or, if you are not ok, please state so in the comments or in a note. The only characters that appeared so far are Erin and Arie, and I can still change them or the others.

Not all the adopts I'm planning to adopt or were already adopted are certain of being used in this Project;
If you managed to see this jornal because I contacted you or someone else did, this itselft does not mean the adopt will, for sure be used in this Project;
I'll consider myself in the rights of deciding which character will appear or not in the book, even if I stated that they're going to appear somewhere, should I decide that adding or deleting them from the main story will keep the structure of the book;
