Skills

Void-Tribe Skill Tree
Void-Tribe's Current Level || Level 6

PRIMARY SKILLS

Skill 1 || Cognition || "You know the exact time of day and are able to time and pace yourself perfectly with any chronological landmarks (sunrise/noon/sunset/midnight/etc). The same goes with the season, knowing almost exactly how many days until or since autumn/winter/spring/summer starts."
Skill 2 || Precognition || "You have a general feeling for events in the future, and are able to gauge likelihood and probabilities with preternatural accuracy. (Example: The sense that you will meet someone new today, the feeling that water will be important today, etc. Very general, nonspecific ideas.)."
Skill 3 || Flash-forward, Flash-back || "You are able to reverse or fastforward the effects of time on simple things. (Examples: un-growing a flower, un-eroding a rock, and vice versa)."
Skill 4 || Flash-forward, Flash-back II || "You are able to reverse or fastforward the effects of time in a more substantial way. (Examples: reversing the onset of an infection, slowing down a mouse as it runs, increase your own pace, accelerate the growth of a plant.)"

Skill 5 || Temporal Perception || "You can change how another cat or animal perceives time. By slowing down their perception, you will make it appear to them that the world is moving extremely quickly - or - by increasing their perception, you will make it appear that the world, and themselves, are moving extremely slowly."
Skill 6 || Stop-and-Go || "You can stop small things in time. (Examples: Raindrops, rolling rocks, fireballs, etc.)"
Skill 7 || Retrospect || "You can look through time and see what has happened in the past in your current location. With practice, you can look into the past in places where you've only been once before."
Skill 8 || It's What's On The Inside That Counts! || "You can change the volume of something without altering its physical shape or presence. (ie. a hollow tree may be as big as an entire tribe territory.) How much volume is within the item depends on the amount of time devoted to "expanding" it, and the experience of the user. (It would take season cycles of practice to actually reach the previous example, for context.)"
Skill 9 || Gravitational || "</span>You can manipulate gravity in the following ways; increasing gravity, decreasing gravity, and creating a gravity field/changing the direction of gravity (this allows you to walk upon vertical, or even upside-down, surfaces, and to remain anchored to a moving object)."
</span>Skill 10 || Duplication || You can duplicate sections of space, allowing anything (including cats) that enters in one side to exit from the other. (Now you're thinking with portals!)  With experience, you can also this this skill as matter displacement, wherein you can substitute sections of matter for sections of different matter. (Example: Turn a section of solid ground into water - the replaced ground goes to where the water was taken from.)

Appearance

Coloring || Denver is tricolored, his base coloring a gray that is a bit lighter than that of his mother.  A shade of darker gray extends from his forehead across his back to cover his entire tail, sloping down at his shoulders and hindquarters.  Two dark stripes extend around his neck on either side, and the same dark shade runs from his nose to the center of his forehead.  His face beneath his forehead is white, as is his underbelly, and he carries a white splotch on his chest.  His ears are white at the base, fading to dark at the ends.  He has white fur under the base of his tail, extending down to the back of his right heel.  Each of his paws is a different combination of these dark-light-medium markings.
Quartus is identical to his twin brother, Quintus, other than a few key features.  The first is that his dark markings on his face run above his nose to his forehead, not around his muzzle.  The second difference is in his eyes, which are a light amber-gold as opposed to his brother's green.

Physical Features || As a kit, Denver is small, most notably because of the diminished size of his mother.  He will most likely grow to be built for speed rather than strength, with hints of long legs and supple joints already apparent at this young age.  He will never be a large cat, but neither will he be as small as D'ialia, most likely to end up roughly average or a bit below the mark.  His fur is as of right now a bit short and coarse, but given his maine coon and turkish angora heritage, it is likely to fluff out later, especially at his chest and the end of his tail.  His fur grows longer down his spine and at his forehead, creating a spikey mane which is longer at the back, the fur falling a bit over the side at his midsection.  This is also likely to grow out longer as he gets older.  His cheeks are fluffy, the fur growing longest just below his ears in a fashion not unlike his mother's sister, Jazlyn, a former Yellow-Light.  The ears themselves are long, thin, and rather furry.

Tattoo || Pending

Scars || None yet

Accessories || Quartus has no accessories as of yet, but this is likely to change in the future.  He quite likes accessories, and will most likely stockpile them and alternate what he wears when he matures.

Personality
Alignment: Chaotic Neutral

Self-Centered || Fickle || Intelligent || Rebellious || Chaotic || Manipulative || High-Maintenance || Callous || Innovative || Dynamic || Adaptable || Charming

Self-Centered || Quartus always has himself in mind. Everything he does, everything he decides, is with his own well-being, happiness, and entertainment in mind. It's not that he measures everything he does in terms of what he can gain by it, but rather when it comes to actually making a decision, he will ultimately always choose the selfish path. That doesn't mean he's a coward--oftentimes he will choose a path a bit more dangerous just for the fun of it, engage in a conversation simply because he will think it is entertaining. He'll do a favor for someone else if it feels like it, but never if it means there'll be any sort of detriment to his own person. In short, the driving force of anything he does is what he feels like doing, or what would be most convenient for him.

Fickle || Though Quartus does what he wants, the things that he wants aren't completely set in stone. When faced with the same problem or decision twice, he's likely to change what he does depending on his mood, or how well it worked out the first time. Not even he knows exactly how he will react to anything, not that he cares much. He likes to take life one step at a time, deciding his wishes on an impulse, changing his mind when circumstances change or he just gets bored of what he'd been working towards previously.

Intelligent || Due to his parentage and upraising, there's not much room for Quartus to be anything less than intelligent. He is in constant need of mental stimulus, engaging himself in problems and solutions (though often only half-finishing them before losing interest and moving to another). He's quick-witted, intrigued by anything that's hard to explain, as normal logical dilemmas are often quite easy for him to figure out. He's very good at reading others, their reactions and emotions, as D'ialia taught he and his siblings from a young age. It is a skill that he finds quite handy and often uses, trying to needle out secrets with well-placed questions and logic work. He quite enjoys learning new things, and will catch on very quickly.

Rebellious || Quartus constantly challenges authority and rules. Even if he respects or even likes an authority figure, he will often break rules or openly challenge them because it is in his nature. He believes that if a system exists, there also needs to be individuals who will challenge it, push its boundaries, find its breaking points and weaknesses, in order to open the eyes of those who blindly follow it. An authority figure must constantly be challenged in order to continue to be respected, to show that they deserve what they have. He will take advantage of every loophole in a system, every weakness to authority, and follow the rules really only if he feels like it. "Punishments" in the traditional sense, such as running menial tasks for the tribe, aren't punishments to him at all, only serving to reinforce his actions with results to his challenges, the knowledge that he disturbed someone enough that they try to quell his spirit and mold his actions. His will is strong, and though he will often change his opinions, he will never allow another cat to determine his actions.

Chaotic || Quartus is an extreme lover of chaos. Not only does he constantly challenge authority, but he goes out of his way to ruin everyone else's day. These aren't simple, snide comments about their looks or their choices. Quartus feels incredible pleasure when he can mess up something important for someone else, or place a seed of doubt into a relationship. He will often pretend to be oblivious as he sews the seeds of chaos, then step back and watch the fireworks. As a kit, he and his brother come up with elaborate pranks for as many cats as they can, and as an adult these pranks will most likely continue and even intensify, becoming more elaborate and destructive. He loves playing with emotions and decisions, loves throwing others into a panic, and loves to watch a conflict that he has been working on resolve itself, especially if it ends in violence. He rarely simply starts fights, more likely to set one cat on another, either emotionally or physically. His pranks are often indirect, and sometimes he leaves no evidence to point to him (though sometimes he does, just to keep others guessing). He believes chaos to reveal true beauty and ugliness, stripping cats down to their barest, instinctual selves, removing all traces of facade. Not to mention it's just entertaining to watch.

Manipulative || Quartus is on his way to becoming a master manipulator. He can lie as convincingly as he tells the truth, and has learned that it can also serve him to tell the truth but lead the other to believe that he is lying. He can subtly plant ideas and doubts into conversation, dropping hints and information so that when an individual acts on it, they believe that the inclination to act came from them. Quartus loves the feeling he gets when he makes someone believe a lie, but he's not stupid enough to practice it so often that no one believes a word he says. He always has his ear to the ground for information, revealing partial-truths, or even whole truths, if they're incriminating enough. He believes manipulation works best when his prey is given true information, but only enough to where they come to a false assumption. He likes to have a paw in everyone else's life, knowing several things about each of them that perhaps they don't want everyone else to know. He incorporates word games and subtlety into his pretty extroverted personality.

High-Maintenance || Perhaps the reason for Quartus' rebellious and chaotic nature is the fact that he gets bored extremely easily. He always needs to be doing something, talking to someone, engaging in non-repetitive tasks. He often seeks danger just to break the boredom, or do something destructive just so he can get into trouble. He can't stand it when there's nothing going on, when he does the same task multiple times in a row, or having too long of a conversation with a single person. He wants to be faced with new challenges, new ideas, new reactions and emotions. Rest and peace are a complete waste of time in a life that is finite and passing by every second.

Callous || Quartus cares very little about other individuals, with the exception or his twin brother, Quintus, who he's extremely devoted to. He believes most cats to be boring, too slow, too loving of peace and at least some degree of conformity. Others often bore him, and he finds it more amusing when he can manipulate what they do, or set them at each others' throats. Though he holds individuality in very high regard, he holds most individuals with very little, believing them to be "not enough of an individual to count." With the exception of his twin, Quartus would never give his life or safety for that of another, and if he deems helping someone too risky, he will deny the request from any that consider him a friend, even if he considers them a "friend" in return.

Innovative || Though Quartus is destructive and chaotic, he is extremely creative in the way that he goes about it. He will come up with complex plans that he will never use, or come up with new meanings for things that don't fit with anyone else's meaning for them. He goes out of his way to turn anything anyone knows upside down, makes them question it, looks at it from other angles. When he's bored and searching for something to do, and isn't in the mood to ruin someone's day, he'll give morality a try and help another with their problems, or come up with an elaborate game and invite others to join. He loves creating things, or using objects in hew ways. If his ideas don't work out, he doesn't worry about it--it was fun while it lasted, and there will always be something new to come up with in the future.

Dynamic || As mentioned before, Quartus always needs to be doing something, engaging in one activity or another. The more variation in anything he does, the better--he doesn't want to get stuck doing one thing for too long. If he feels like learning fighting, he'll ask the warriors for a few tips. If he wants to learn something more artsy, he'll follow around one of the craftsmen. If he wants to hear a story, or learn a bit about philosophy, he'll seek out one of the older or more experienced cats. He doesn't like the idea that he'll have to choose a certain profession when he goes to his new tribe, and would much rather alternate between who teaches him and what he's learning. His ideas and methods are always changing, always evolving, and though he doesn't usually stick to one thing for too long, one can be sure that he'll put 100% of his ability into it while he's there, and more likely than not come back to pick it up again later.

Adaptable || With such a great love of change and chaos, you can bet that Quartus will always be able to adapt to new situations. He has no problem going against beliefs that have served him well in the past, molding his person for the new task, and even enjoys the challenge of doing so. When faced with something new, he'll try to figure it out while simultaneously trying several different ways of interacting with it. He will even adapt to the personality of whoever it is he's interacting with at the moment. He can be incredibly sweet to some cats while amusedly terrifying others with dropped hints about their own inevitable demise. It would be too easy to say he's an actor--he simply reveals certain parts of himself to some while hiding them from others, adding to the confusion of anyone who talks to another about him.

Charming || Despite everything else, Quartus can be quite charming as long as he's not targeting you. At times, he'll happily help to clean up the mess that he made, never questioning why he does it. But this nature, though genuine while it lasts, is usually inconsistent and unpredictable, only manifesting itself when Quartus is content and no longer seeking stimulus or entertainment, interbroken with the times when he's so bored he just wants to break everything in his line of sight.

Backstory

Kit || Quartus was born in late summer in Shadow-Tribe, named for being the fourth-born of D'ialia and Cenek. He loved his twin brother before he even knew the word "twin," much less know that Quintus was his. Though he liked his brothers and sister well enough, none of them were very important to him in the long run. He spent much more time talking with the other quiet tom than he did with any of the others, and felt a connection to him that he has never yet matched with any other cat, not even his mother and father. He was born in the dark of the Shadow-Tribe caves, living in the relative quiet of the subtle cats' life. He never caused much trouble, never acted out, though he was fairly vocal in all the goings-on of his siblings. He was always bored, an incessant, nearly-unbearable boredom that came from a father who was a Silver-Shadow and therefore too busy to spend too much time with them, and a mother who rarely showed any attachment or love in the conventional sense. He learned that he had to entertain himself in order to dull the unbearable tedium of life, and even that was always temporary and never groundbreaking.

When the kits grew a bit older, and D'ialia began to show them how to survive, Quartus always listened with exhilaration. How big the world was, how dangerous! How many things there were that were able to kill an unsuspecting cat! He itched to go outside, to experience it, and when D'ialia began taking them out, he was ecstatic. Though their mother showed slight favoritism to Secundus, one of Quartus' older brothers, he never minded too much, just as long as she took them to the mouth of the cave or even a little deeper into the territory to show them the world. For a time, all he wanted was to be one of the stoic cats who could walk the world, seeming perfectly content and never bored with their lot in life. Soon he could grow up and have a purpose in his life, something driving him--surely nothing could ever bore him in that state!

But when he was barely three moons old, disaster struck. That autumn had been the hottest any cat could remember, the great eye of the sun scorching the water back day after day, and the Air-Tribers who had previously been able to summon storms at will were unable to conjure rain. Quartus watched the cats in his camp, watched the growing tension in their shoulders, felt the metaphorical stormclouds build as true stormclouds faded into a more and more distant memory. It was so interesting, to see previously content and strong individuals become a cumulative anxiety that crackled through the air, and all at the same time, because of the same thing!

The kit got his first taste of chaos not long into the drought. He awoke to the sounds of panic, to the sounds of cats hunkering in the caves, running in, running out, calling to one another, asking where so-and-so was and had anyone seen them leave? His heart rate had elevated, his breath catching in his chest, but it wasn't with the fear that the others felt, even though his oldest brother, Primus, his sister, Tertius, and his mother were all somewhere in the storm. The more he heard about the great, enveloping sandstorm that was wreaking havoc through Nandryx, the more he came to realize that this was something incredible and powerful. Cats were dying, cats were lost, cats were frightened and panicked, simply because of the very nature of the storm's existence. Quartus walked to the entrance to the Shadow-Tribe caves and watched the blowing sand for hours, in awe, in reverence.

It was chaos, and it was beautiful.  He never wanted it to end.

Hey there!

I just learned that this handsome fellow is Farnian's apprentice! Would you like to do a mentor/apprentice rp between them?
