========== WRITTEN TEST ==========
The morning skies above Andalusst City brought an ominous beginning to the day, the lone blue streak of open air above seemed to either be on the verge of breaking open or being swallowed up by the dense clouds surrounding it. Regardless, the many traders and shopkeepers outside the Explorers Guild Hall weren’t taking any chances, moving their various produces to the nearby shade and covering them up to keep them dry in the event of rain, but that still didn’t stop a young Dewott and her Delibird friend from enjoying a nice little walk outside the guild hall.

The Dewott had an unusual swagger in her step this day, her face alit with a confident smirk that seemed to say “I’m awesome and you can’t do anything about it”, something her red fringed jacket-wearing friend assumed was not from having just joined the Explorers Guild, but from wearing her new sleeveless, navy blue vest she had gotten from her mother.

“My word Lazuli, I ain’t ever recalled a time you had such a smile on yer face,” said the Delibird, “Can a new vest really do that to someone?”

“Of course it can Delilah,” the Dewott boasted, “it’s better than going out with nothing but a bandana over your chest. Now those dumb, perverted males can go find someone else to harass instead of me, HAHAHAHAHA!”

“You’ve got confidence, I’ll give you that,” said a voice coming from their right side, “Just don't get cocky - confidence is good, but overconfidence in a dungeon is a quick way to get you and everyone else in trouble.”

The two followed the voice towards the outer wall of the Explorers Guild Hall, where a female Servine leaned against the structure, her bright eyes watching them from under the shadow of her hat.

“You two new around here?” she asked in a cautious, yet welcoming tone.

“You bet we are,” the Delibird waved her right wing, “and I gotta say, that’s a mighty fine lookin’ hat ya got there missy.”

“Er, thanks,” the Servine said, a slight blush appeared on her face from the unexpected compliment, “but you didn’t have to answer my question. I know you’re new around here, I just saw you sign in. Look, I’m not good with this whole meet and greet stuff, so why don’t you tell me your names?”

“I’m Delilah Macaronia, and this here’s Lazuli Dewacha! Pleasure ta meet ya Miss…”

“Teresa,” the Servine smiled, folding her small arms across her chest, “My name’s Teresa. I like that enthusiasm you’ve got there; it means you’re serious about thus, yeah?”

“You bet we are Teresa,” said Delilah, “we can’t wait to get started with this here guild.”

“And I can’t wait to work with you two,” Teresa nodded, “You see, I'm what you'd call a Guild Assistant, which makes me your Serperior."

Delilah doubled over in laughter at Teresa’s pun, but Lazuli could only stare in disbelief at her bad joke.

“Really Teresa, did you have to make that pun?” Lazuli moaned.

“Oh come on Lazuli, can’t ya take a joke?” Delilah scolded.

“It’s not a problem Delilah,” Teresa giggled, “she’s just being honest. I don’t care about rank and file, but I do care about honesty.” She paused for a moment to extend thin, green vines out from her shoulders, like she was offering a handshake of sorts. "So what brings you here, anyway? You from out of town, or...?"

“We came out of the fog the other day,” Lazuli said as the two shook Teresa’s vines, “but we don’t have a clue how we ended up here in the first place.”

“You’d be surprised how many Pokémon who live here have the same situation as you two,” Teresa nodded and withdrew her vines, “Well, whatever the case, since you’re now Explorers, what’s your team name? I didn't get a chance to check your papers, but I do want to get more familiar with our rookie members when I have the time. I'm kinda new to this whole assistant thing, honestly."

“We’re called Team Rushing Waters,” Delilah patted the fluff on her chest, “We wanted a name that symbolized our talents.”

“Oh, and what would those be?” Teresa asked with a curious look on her face.

“Well, I can deliver things real fast-like with mah Quick Attack!” Delilah said, demonstrating her impressive speed by running back and forth down the street, zigzagging around the Pokémon in her path before meeting back up with Lazuli and Teresa, who nearly lost her hat when Delilah skidded to a stop in front of her.

“Well, that was impressive,” the Servine chuckled nervously, “but what about you, Lazuli, what can you do?”

“I would show you, but I’ll need you to hold still for a moment Teresa” Lazuli said, grabbing her scalchops by the sides of their rings without warning, twirling them around in her hands for a moment before pointing them hinge first at the now frightened Servine, firing a bullet of water from each scalchop and knocking her hat off her head.

“I-I think I’ve seen that style before,” Teresa stuttered as she placed her hat back on, “you’re Lapis’ kid, aren’t you?”

“I am,” Lazuli smirked, twirling her scalchops again before holstering them by her thighs, “It took me a bit to remember that though, considering I hadn’t seen her in a long time.”

“Well, it’s good to know that you got that style from your mother…” Teresa sighed, “though I can see why Cassidy considers you two to be standouts, but if I may be honest, you two definitely have a lot in common with him.”

“Why’s that?” Delilah asked.

“Well, you’ve got the speed and accent like he does, and your friend is a Water-type sharpshooter like him,” the Servine paused for a moment, tapping the side of her snout as she searched for another question to give the girls, clicking her tiny fingers upon doing so, "Oh right, this is very important - why did you want to become an Explorer, hm? Just curious..."

“Well, as we’ve explained before, we don’t have any clue how the both of us got here,” Lazuli explained, “but since we both found out my mother, my sister, and another friend of ours were here, we figured that we might be able to find clues about what happened to us before we lost our memories. Of course, it does help that my mother is a guild assistant just like you.”

"...Because ultimately, the people come first, yeah?” Teresa interrupted, her words leaving her mouth more rapidly and urgently than before, “There's lots of food in the dungeons, and materials for clothing and medicine! When we go out and find that stuff, it means everyone here gets to have dinner. I mean, you know that, obviously, but just don't forget!"

The girls could only stare back with baffled looks on their faces, noting the rather odd manner in which she interrupted them, but another click of her fingers quickly snapped them back to reality.

"I can just feel it,” she said in a more cheerful tone than when they first met, “you do what you do and do it with everything you've got.’Cause in this guild, when a giver gives, then the giver gets... gotten... gets give-- eh, well you get what you give, or something. Whatever, it's written down on that big plaque in the hall. Just do your best and come see me if you need any help."

With one last wave of her hand, the Servine turned her head to engage in conversation with another pair of recruits just passing by them.

“Well, that was interestin’” Delilah nodded, “I reckon she’ll be a hoot to work with.”

“You can say that again,” Lazuli sighed, “though I’m more curious about what my mother is like on the job….”

“We can worry ‘bout that later Lazuli, what do ya say we head back home and celebrate you and your sister’s initiation to the guild?”

With one last nod of her head, Lazuli and her new teammate began their trek back home with confident smiles on their faces, knowing their future was as bright as the sun beaming down from between the clouds above…
We've reached the halfway point, and up next is the "main" team for :iconpmdunity:'s Explorers Guild, Team Rushing Waters!

Discovered this application on the atlas and I have to say it was quite a fun read!  I really enjoyed Lazuli and Delilah as characters and I liked the way you used Teresa for the interactions.  I'm looking forward to catching up on their adventures!
