I didn't see any of this particular character, Ugo 'lo Sfregio' Buonafede, and I liked the cut of his jib, so here he is in all his glory. He's a doctor, and from what I understand, an excellent player of a Rodinian card game called Strategist. I don't know if any details of the card game are fleshed out in the creator's universe, but I created a card, 'The Apothecary' (sort of a medieval physician/pharmacologist), that seemed appropriate for his nature as a doctor.

So unexpected, so amazingly designed and so breathtaking!
I love everything about this composition: and the most important part: that you chose such character!
This is so incredible, I have the feeling we can read a story beyond the "mere" paiting, it has a theatre feeling just like if it was Commedia dell'Arte play, everything is so expressive in this painting! Ugo's pose, straight, solemn and mysterious, his look. I wonder how you manage to paint such an expressive face with this mask (fantastic work on the texture by the way, it looks real!)! Your shading is wonderful, the folds are so marvelous, each element is simply perfectly painted
ANd his hand, glove would be more correct... This detail totally amazes me, I could look at it for hours and hours!
ANd the card... Truly, you did a marvelous job at depicting my character, thinking about all those tiny details linked to his story
