Spring in the year 759 of the New Age
Silverthorne, in the Silver Vale

I wonder what she sees...

Pan

Another warm breeze rolled through the verdant glade, lightly rustling the leaves and grass as it washed over her. Today was a bit warmer than most, she figured summer was almost upon them. The small grassy clearing offered just enough shade to keep her cool even in the dead of noon. Relaxing, she began to go over the herbs she would need for the upcoming winter, though it would be milder than the rest she wanted to be prepared for anything. Plus it was a good excuse to explore close to the borders; Blackwood was always a forbidden place when she was younger.

Sol

Time slipped by as the sun rose higher overhead, creating a dancing patchwork of light through the trees. Sol felt he was closing in on the right location, inhaling he could smell the scent of another nearby. The area was much prettier than the forests to the east in his opinion, the green broadleaf trees and lush grass were inviting and comforting than the pine covered floor and stiff evergreens. Arriving near a small opening in the woods he saw her resting just a ways off.

“Pan! It has been a while,” grinning as he trotted to her.

Pan

She had heard someone approaching from a ways away but it was clear they were not trying to hide their presence so she waited.  However this was an unexpected face and quite a surprise indeed. It had been almost a year since she last saw Sol.

“Friend,” she smiled warmly, tilting her head in greeting, “It has been quite some time indeed! Where have you been?”

Sol

“I have been here and there, mostly near the river.”

Finding a cool spot in the grass he lay facing her. Pan seemed different from the last time they traveled; fuller, more mature, and the scars on her shoulder were nearly invisible. He wondered if her temper was still as fiery as her brazen coat. Probably, I doubt anything would be able to quench that. Smiling to himself he though back to the past few months.

“It’s easier to practice magic there, you know, won’t light the whole place on fire by accident,” he studied her a bit longer, “Seems the Vale has been treating us well though, eh?”

Pan

“Yes. This place reminds me of home,” frowning she paused, as she let out a small laugh “just with less people. And there is much to learn here! Here you must see this.”

Quickly standing up she walked over to a tree that seemed to have a small niche near the base, and pulled out a small satchel. Returning she plopped back in her spot and eagerly dug in the bag.

“Here!” she gingerly pulled forth a small flower and set it between them; it was a pale dusty colour with a light fragrance that smelled of sun and earth. “Isn’t this beautiful?” she cooed, “I’ve only heard my mother speak of it once, so it must be hard to find. But I’ve never seen a flower like it before.”

Sol

Sol listened with great amusement as words streamed from her mouth, excitement clearly bubbling over. He had not seen her like this since they first reached the Vale. It's almost like were fawns again... Has it really been that long? Curiously he watched her gather a small pouch from the tree. “Looks real fine, smells real fine too," he inspected the flower she laid out. It was smaller, no bigger than his hoof he reckoned, and had the sweetest scent he had ever smelled. "What’d you have to do to get that?” He chuckled, eyeing her closely.

Pan

“Well, it grows in the Ashen plains, “clearing her throat as she glared at him, “I’ve been going to the plains every morning for the past few weeks. I found this about two days ago, deep in the heart of them. It’s called a desert rose.” Leaning over she inhaled deeply again; its light scent warmed her whole body.

“So what did you come here for then?” Inspecting him coolly as she shifted her weight, “Since I’m assuming you didn’t stop by just to exchange pleasantries.”

Sol

He let out an inward sigh. Always straight to the point with her. Never over, never under, never around or to the side. She'd go straight through the damn mountains if she could.

“I’ve started to train magic by the riverbank now, and wanted to acquire a charm of sorts.” He tread lightly around the topic as he explained it to her, unsure of how she would act. She did ‘owe’ him a favor from the unspoken agreement they had come to before they parted ways last year, but he didn't know if this was too much to ask. And it wasn't entirely the reason he had come here, just a convenient excuse.

Pan

She went silent for a moment, mulling over the notion. “I owe you my life Sol, it would be the least I can do to repay you.” Her expression softened a bit as they locked gazes.

“Now, tell me more about this charm you want.” Sinking deeper into the grass she tilted her ears forward and listened intently as Sol began talking. Pan was ecstatic to see him again, but kept it to herself. She had missed him dearly. It's good hearing his voice again.
