Explorers Task 2:  Forest forgery

[Maybe we should carry all the wood from Andalusst we need to build the outpost.]

“Ah, I get it,” Luke said, “You want to get all the wood so ya wouldn’t be tempted to take any from the forest, eh?”

[Yes, and that’s not all. By having all the wood we need to finish the outpost, the only other time we leave the clearing is to return to Andalusst.]

“Well then,” Soleil said, “The battle plan’s laid out, so let’s move out!”

[Wait, Soleil.  We’ll need rope to keep the planks of wood together, so that way we won’t have to worry about it falling apart after we build it.]

“No need to worry,” Luke said, “I have it covered.”

“Whew, that’s one load off the shoulders.”  Having carried all the wood for the shed through the forest, the three stole a moment for rest in the clearing.  [Okay Luke, we’ll leave it to you to tell us how you want the outpost to be built.] 

“Well,” Luke said, I’m not much for ideas, but I was thinkin’ we ought to tie four planks together, like makin’ a layer, and then stack ‘em on top of each other.

[All right, that sounds good. Let’s do it then.]  The three get to work, Soleil and Hoshi holding the planks together while Luke ties them together, one side atop the other to make a layer.  They proceed to create more of these layers, leaving several planks out for making the roof. As Soleil and Luke work together on making the roof, Hoshi works his Extrasensory move to carefully stack the layers so they would ‘connect’ properly with each other.  “Okay, Hoshi, the roof’s done!”  Soleil called out.

[Okay, I’m on it.]  The three take the roof over to the outpost, with Luke carrying the greater weight.  Hoshi concentrates on the roof, and carefully places it on top of the shed.

“Well, it’s not our best work,” Soleil said, “But I can’t help but feel like I really got things done.”

“You two really gave me a great deal of help ‘ere.”

“But you were the one who helped us out.”  Looking at the newly built shed, Soleil noticed a plank of wood.  “Hey, Luke, we have an extra plank here.”

“Let’s see it.”  Luke went over to Soleil and picked it up. ‘Hmm.’ He thought, ‘It’s smaller than the ones we worked with, but it feels rather sturdy and dependable.  I think there’s something special about this one.’

“Since you two did well, I would like to give ya one of two things.”  Luke places the plank in front of him, and pulls out a plush that looks like him.  “Which would ya like? This plush of me, or the extra plank?”

”Hmmm…” Soleil looked longingly at the plush.  “Well, I’ve decided to take the plank.  Maybe it might help me protect Hoshi someday.”

“All right, you can have it.”

“Thanks Luke!”
