La’Neiya

Lost! Lost again!

The hind screwed up her face in a scowl and glared at the tunnel wall in front of her before dropping her head and letting out a disappointed sigh. She couldn’t even count her attempts to get to the outside anymore, but still she couldn’t find a way out. She could smell the outside, but she couldn’t find it and it was getting more cross-making every time.

As well as getting lost all the time she wasn’t really sure which mosses were good to eat yet. Every time she tried a new one they tasted so mulchy and horrible that she’d had to spit them out and slink back to the old doe’s cave so she could eat something that didn’t make her feel sick. There was no way she’d be able to get back to daylight if she couldn’t eat on her way.

“I guess I’ll go back again then..” she muttered, and with another sigh she turned and started to make her way back towards the Moonpool.

Urs

With a soft thud, the sooty stag gracefully bounded down the small rocky platform near the Moonpool. He gave a soft sigh, breathing in the fresh air that sunk in through the ceiling's opening.

Urs was having a good day. Everything seemed to be orderly and no one was in danger. The guard walked along the edge of the pool and looked up at the shining face of Galeach. Right now the god's face was peaceful and pleased. The pool's water reflecting his tranquil mood. For now the cavern was reflectively empty, only Urs and another fawnling or two walking about.

La’Neiya

As she walked, the young filly was muttering angrily to herself, berating herself for failing, yet again, to manage to make her way out. She should’ve been pleased, she supposed, that at least she hadn’t been caught this time - that had been embarrassing, and at least now she got to make her own way back to the old shaman’s cave.

As she got closer to the Moonpool though, that looked like it might be about to change.  A stag - maybe a guard? she wasn’t sure - stood with this face turned up towards that awful hole in the rock and she just knew he’d try to take her back. Oh well, it was going to happen anyway..

“Fine, take me back to the cave,” she said, nudging the stag on his leg. “I’m ready to go back now.”

Urs

A gentle bump against his leg brought Urs out of his thoughts. The stag looked down, curious and slightly confused as to what this filly was talking about. ~Take her back?~ He offered a smile and turned around so he could face her. “I’m not sure what you’re talking about little lady.” he said with a teasing smirk. The guard was normally a kind soul, only growing aggressive or sharp tongued when someone tried to be a rabble rouser… He lifted his head and looked around the cavern a moment. There was no sign of a distressed doe...perhaps her mother did not know she was missing?...“Are you lost?”

La’Neiya

“Oh!” the filly exclaimed.

He wasn’t here to find her and he didn’t know who she was? That was brilliant! And he definitely looked like a guard now she was closer, and he seemed nice enough… A wide grin suddenly lit up her face.

“My name’s La’Neiya,” she announced, still beaming and completely ignoring his question. “And you’re a guard, aren’t you? Do you go outside?”

Urs

The stag watched the little filly's face go from disappointment to excitement. He nodded his head at her question. "I am a guard, and I do go outside some," he answered then added, "my name is Urs."  He tilted his head slightly, "it's a pleasure to meet you La'Neiya.. Are you lost?" He asked once more.

La’Neiya

“Hello Urs,” the filly replied, still grinning. “But I’m not lost. I just want to go outside.”

With that, she turned on her heel and cantered off - for now, she was going back to the old shaman’s cave. But tomorrow, and the next day? Well, one of these days she’d be sure to make it out!

Urs

With a shake of his head, the stag turned and went back to his patrol. ~What an odd little filly.~ he thought and smirked. Seems he had been meeting many of the Oakfern Fawns lately.

Urs hummed softly as he walked out of the MoonPool’s cavern and off into the tunnels. The sooty bay was a bit tired from his long journey still. While it did not hinder his abilities as a guard, it did make him long for his little bed in the caves. With a shake of his head, the stag gave a snort and trotted down one tunnel after another, checking out places that predators were known to lurk in the past. All was quiet though and that was fine by him. The less predators, the safer the herd. That was always a good thing.
