FAQ & Tip Post
Welcome to the Post!
The Staff of SoW are always looking for ways to improve the group and make it into a place where all who are interested in the played topic can have fun. We strive to be a community that everybody can enjoy and create memories in, and so we do what we can to answer any questions and are always open to suggestions!
Perhaps you think there should be an addition or removal of a rule or process in the group’s guidelines? Maybe you have an idea that you feel would help with organization? Wanna see a new playable species? Please feel free to comment any recommendations or ideas you may have.
Or perhaps you have a question that you couldn’t find the answer to in any of our journals? Please check our list of Frequently Asked Questions below, or comment your question, and we’ll get back to you with an answer ASAP!
..Frequently Asked Questions..
No, you don't have to roleplay. If you just want to draw/paint, you are more then welcome to do that. You are not required to RP, although you must write out your character's background history/personality when you join initially.
Absolutely. However, you will need to have a visual of your character when you submit your joining application, so if you can't draw, see if you can find someone else who can do it for you! (and is willing to draw a picture for you, for $$, , or for free).
Absolutely. However please keep in mind it may take time for a human to trust a wolf dog/coydog enough to let it on their team, and also for domesticated dogs to trust a wolf dog/coydog enough to run on a team with one.
Of course. Being a Musher is not a 'job', you don't get paid for it (unless the winnings is money however it wouldn't be enough to have a living off of and take care of your dogs successfully).
Not at all! They may be and remain pet-less, or acquire as many as they please!
No they do not, they may be a stray. However, please keep in mind that all miniature, or small dog breeds, as well as extremely short haired dogs will not survive Nome on the streets during winter. Please create your characters with this in mind!
Of course. If your character has the correct fur (to withstand the elements), and build to pull a sled it can be a sled dog!
You can play your own owner, or someone else can play it or you can simply spoof them (they don't have to be an actual character they can be an NPC or you can simply mention they have one or that they're hanging around etc. )
No, however, just keep in mind that an orphaned wolf pup would have very little chance of survival on its own without a pack/family/caretaker etc. An orphaned puppy IN Nome would have a better chance, yet it would still be a hard life trying to scavenge food etc.
To get rid of a character, simple draw an exit picture and/or short story describing their demise. Afterwards, please inform a staff member that you no longer want that character so it can be removed from the character log. Once a character is 'deceased', you can not bring it back.
It says I can use a free base/line-art for my human character, can I as well for my canine or feline?
Of course! Drawing canines/felines is not everyone's "thing" so you are completely free to use line art as long as you credit the lineart owner properly!
No. To be a sled dog, your character must be fully grown, i.e. Young Adult or Adult, and strong enough to pull the weight of both the sled and their musher.
About Faction Creation
:bigthumb636612619:Creating a Faction
You there!
Are you looking to create a new faction of your own to add to our community? Perhaps you’d like to start a wolf pack, or another gang to trouble the town? Perhaps you want your character to start a special, official business, or even a rebellion group of sorts?
Here, you can find out how to start!

Poll: New Application Sheets?
Hello everybody!
As work is done to reconstruct some of the group’s journals etc., the decision had been made to try and revamp the character applications!
Here is the idea for a format:
https://sta.sh/0n351w0f5rh
There will be an actual background for each faction, of course, rather than one color. The thought that will also be put forward is to remove separate coydog, coywolf, wolfdog, and feline Applications. Instead, if you have any of these, you will put it on the Stray or the Pet application according to their status.
Now comes the question:
Being that we want to give attention the community’s thoughts as well, to make

However, we put it up to you to choose the task you feel you can accomplish, and you are expected to work with this task. We understand of course if there are things irl that hold you back from full activity, but should you have a prolonged inactivity and a silence in any discussion, you will be moved to Members and set to the rules there as any Member woul
