I used all original characters for this one with the sole exception of #10.  None of these are fan characters.  A little background on each:

1 - Buckwheat is the jackalope protagonist from my graphic novel in the works tentatively titled Good Medicine.  He has a family that he's raising on the prairie of the Dakota Territory.  He helps Duke Benson rescue the white bison calf after she's captured by a cattle baron.

2 - Duke Benson is a 17-year-old wannabe cowboy from northeastern Montana.  When his boss steals the white bison calf, Duke teams up with a jackalope to return her to her herd.  Duke is a good boy, and his innocence makes him a foil to his more worldly coworkers--particularly his mentor, McGrub.

3 - Ian "McGrub" MacLain is the 55-year-old Scottish cook in a group of cowboys.  He's a fun-loving, easygoing guy who happily takes Duke under his wing.  But he's a bit of an alcoholic and loves getting into bar brawls.  His worldly nature sharply contrasts Duke's more spiritual good boy nature.  McGrub teaches Duke how to ride a green colt, how to cook camp grub, and how to hunt upland game birds.

4 - Viridia is a young, captive-born prairie rattlesnake from my latest story idea, the Apex Team.  She was deposited in the wild along with her three sisters after being confiscated from her keeper.  She eventually teams up with a bald eagle named Madison, whom she uses as her bodyguard.  Eventually they meet a house cat named Cali and a bullsnake named Angus, and together the four of them stop an army of evil gophers from destroying Great Falls, MT.

5 - Madison is a young bald eagle and the leading member of the Apex Team.  He was raised in a raptor rehabilitation program, and he and his two brothers were recently released into the wild.  He joins forces with Viridia the rattlesnake, Cali the house cat and Angus the bullsnake to save a city from an evil gopher army.

6 - Mitch is a 22-year-old meteorology student from the University of Oklahoma (OU), and part of the titular superhero team in my story idea, the Hurricane Force.  He and four of his friends go on a storm chase one day, only to be caught by the storm and nearly killed.  When they wake up, they are in a secret facility, where they are told they now have weather-related superpowers.  Mitch's superpower is the ability to generate strong straight-line winds.  He can also fly using a glider.  Like the other members of his team, Mitch shares a name with a retired hurricane.

7 - Katrina is a 21-year-old meteorology student from OU, a member of the Hurricane Force, and Mitch's girlfriend.  She's a closet geek, with a particular love for Firefly.  She's similar in many regards to Zoe, the leading female on the aforementioned sci-fi.  Her weather-related power is the ability to manipulate air pressure, temperature and humidity, allowing her to control very localized atmospheric conditions.

8 - Princess Genivive, or Genni for short, is the 13-year-old protagonist from my fantasy story in the works currently titled the Stepmother.  Genni lives in her fantasy books, and sees the world through them.  She loses her mother at a young age, and her father not long after he remarries.  Convinced her new stepmother will turn out evil, especially now that her father is dead, Genni runs away and unwittingly makes a deal with one of the story's antagonists to stop her stepmother before she can do any harm.

9 - Lady Therese is the main protagonist and titular character from the Stepmother.  She is widowed not long after her marriage to a king, and she is having difficulty bonding with her stepdaughter Genni, who accuses her of being evil.  When Genni runs away, Therese proves she will go to great lengths to bring Genni home and show her she is loved.

10 - Prince Jonathan is the main protagonist in my biblical story idea, the Prince and the Shepherd.  He is the firstborn son of King Saul and is the crown prince of Israel.  Jonathan is headstrong and temperamental, and is possibly the best archer in the country.  He develops a close friendship with Saul's rival, a shepherd boy named David.  Jonathan is eventually forced to betray his father's trust in order to save David's life.
