“Mind your tongue- one wrong herb and you’ll meet Gealach sooner than you think.”

Fala has always been a solemn little doe, as if she knew the precariousness of her situation. Matters of importance are treated as such; trivial issues are also treated appropriately in turn. Her speech and conversation are always to the point- any “dancing” with this doe is like trying to move an oak tree.

In everything she sets herself too, Falasnornia does it with a whole heart and a clear mind. She is very dedicated and will weather any storm if she thinks it’s worth it. Her firm behavior can be seen as stubborn at times, but really it is her quiet way of standing up for herself.

“Gealach is the true god of the sky. His word is law, and I follow that law.”

Gealach is her light and master, and thus she serves him reverently. She borders fanatical at times- for every important step in her life she has awaited a specific sign from the moon god to approve her choices. He is the only father she has ever known, and her love for him seems boundless. On the other end of her religious nature, Falasnornia  is quite weary of the occult. She believes powerfully in things like bad luck and unsavory, otherworldly activity.

Although stone-like around others due to her weariness of them, around her adopted mother, Esmene, Fala was just as rowdy as any other child. She loved to plot fake schemes aloud much to the amusement of Esmene.

Falasnornia  is rarely seen smiling, crying, or showing any emotion really. She doesn’t get herself involved politically or emotionally on purpose. They way she sees it, she’s here to do a job. She is seen as cold, for the passionate nature so prominent in Oakferns seems to have passed her by. But really it is that she has a profound ability to cool whatever temper may flare within her. She is not without her stormy emotions- but they are saved for those she trusts.

History:

Falasnornia  was born, unwanted, as the weakest foal of her father’s harem in the Summer. She was extremely delicate, looking more like a pile of twigs in a hide than that of foal, and it was a wonder she didn’t die within her first few hours of life. Her eldest brother was far stronger than she and the darling out of the harem.

Her  mother was a wildly delusional shamaness who was only felt at ease when praying to Gealach. While not abusive, Ulula was rather neglectful, leaving her babe for hours, sometimes days, on end. Her detachment stemmed not only from her own unhappy childhood, but also that she nearly died during childbirth, as carrying a baby at her size is almost always guaranteed fatal.

As soon as the Falasnornia was weaned, Ulula’s absences increased to the point where full seasons would roll by before they met again. Yet although most would shake their heads in pity, Falasnornia was wise little filly. Self-sufficiency was her bread and butter before most foals even knew to how to eat dry food. Of course she missed her mother when she was gone, but missing her would not bring them any closer.

If anything could be said for Ulula, it was that she was a devout a shamaness, if a piss-poor mother. A few of the other Shamans took pity on her brood because they knew of her personal problems and moral downfalls, and took Fala along with her elder half-brother under their collective wing to raise when they could. From these various magickers and wise folk, Falasnornia has awakened her true adoration of the deity, and from that point threw herself into learning about him.

And yet her brother was always the favorite. He was praised as clever, perceptive; such an apt pupil and so worthy of Gealach's blessings. Only one shaman of her foster family, a doe named Esmene, favored Falasnornia  before the rest even turned her way.

He was the pride of the guard, seen as a rising star and sure-pick for mentoring into the Captain of the guard one day. Funny how he was usually sneaking off from magic lessons and always neglectful of any duties that didn’t require fighting.

Despite the isolation, Esmene was always enough for her. Their bond was a strong one, even if it started off reluctantly. Esmene never treated Fala like she wasn’t good enough, but challenged her instead to prove others wrong.

Her brother was long applauded, but Falasnornia  quickly began proving herself among the shamans. She was no ‘born genius’, but her perseverance and wit made her a perfect match for her line of profession.

Realizing finally that Falasnornia  had potential, the shamans fully turned their energy and time towards her. Fala blossomed in this period, discovering her talents and coaxing the hidden power within her. It was with the other shaman’s guidance that she became a fully-fledged wise-woman herself.

It was a proud day at her coming of age when Fala was chosen for the position of shaman. She felt it was a chance to really prove her worth to those that at first ignored her. Siblings she hadn’t spoken to in years now came flooding back to her, always trying to gain her favor and forgiveness. Even her solemn, stubborn father sought her political alliance in a silly attempt to bump his status.

None of the sucking up touched Fala’s heart, and soon she was isolated again, her family bitter that they missed a wealth of resource and political value. As long as she lives, it will always be a grand joke to her that they ever tried.

It is now that she is honored and well-standing within Oakfern. Gealach’s favor has finally seemed to touch her and bring her true potential to light.
