It was difficult to pretend to be something that you weren’t, when your whole world looked to you for guidance and leadership. One mistake was enough to send the susurrus of rumours and slander slithering through the herd. In public he maintained the facade of noble King, standing strong, enduring the whispered mockery and helping those that still sought him for it.
