========== WRITTEN TEST ==========

Prince hadn’t noticed the servine until he’d moved to exit the guild hall, bumping shoulders with her. The shiny meowth flinched in shock, but quickly turned to face her, holding his new gloves tightly in one paw, the other clenching Havenleigh’s candlestick holder. “Oh, e-excuse me! I’m so sorry, I didn’t s-see you there…”

The servine appeared nonplussed, giving Prince a friendly smile. “Oh, it’s no problem… Hey, you two are new aren’t you?” She sounded cautious, but welcoming, taking a step closer to Prince. “New to the guild I mean. Did you just sign in? I’ll admit I’m not great with the whole ‘meet-and-greet’ thing, so how about exchanging names to start off? You go first,” she said with a sly look.

Prince hesitated. He wasn’t one to talk to strangers, but Havenleigh seemed calm enough, and it would be impolite to ignore a fellow guild member. Prince wanted to make a good impression with the ‘mon who might become his friends. “I’m Prince, and t-this is my friend Havenleigh.”

The servine relaxed against the wall and folded her arms. “Ahh, that’s great. Yeah, your names have that... that ‘zing’. I guess you guys are serious about this, huh? As for me, my name’s Teresa. I’m what you’d call a guild assistant, which makes me your… serperior.”

She stared at Prince for a brief moment – the meowth kept silent, not quite sure if she’d made a joke or if he’d heard her wrong. Teresa giggled quietly. “You know, you don’t have to be so polite. I don’t really care about rank and file, but I do care about honesty. If I tell a joke and it sucks, feel free to roll your eyes.”

Prince blushed and waved the hand holding his gloves. “Oh, n-no, um, I… I was just raised to be polite… It was a pretty funny joke,” he said, offering a light, nervous chuckle.

The servine giggled again, then extended a green vine towards Prince. It took the meowth a moment to realize she was giving him some form of a handshake. He took it and shook politely as she said, “So what brings you here anyway? You from out of town, or…?”

“Oh, w-well, Havenleigh and I got lost in the fog,” Prince said simply. It was an explanation he’d already had to give several times, and it didn’t feel odd anymore – many of the other teams appeared to have suffered similar fates as well, anyway. “Havenleigh used her Will-O-Wisp to help g-guide us through, so we can kind of r-remember some things… But other memories are f-fuzzy… I think we got l-lost somehow.” He paused, then added, “I helped with the st-statue, and um, Luke convinced me joining the g-guilds would be a good idea! S-so I was just signing up…”

Teresa nodded, pulling back her vine and offering him a sympathetic look. “Sorry to hear you guys got lost. That happens to a lot of folk who end up here. But I mean, of all places to end up, Andalusst is a pretty great one huh? Whatever the case, you’ve got a name in mind for your group, right? I want to get more familiar with our rookie members when I have time. I’m kinda new to this whole assistant thing, honestly.”

Prince blushed again. The name he’d chosen was pretty, but a little silly he thought, although Havenleigh had told him it was just as well. As if hearing his thoughts, the litwick answered for him. “We’ve gone with the name Wax’n’Wane.”

A smile crept over the servine’s narrow features. “There’s that zing again. Feels good to know we’ve got pokemon like you joining our guild. I guess Cassidy wasn’t exaggerating when he said the standouts just kept pouring in. Just don’t get cocky – I’m sure I don’t need to tell either of you, you don’t seem the type… But overconfidence in a dungeon is a quick way to get yourself in trouble, along with everyone else in your party.”

Teresa tapped the side of her snout, then clicked her leafy fingers as another question seemed to cross her mind. “Oh, right, this is very important – why did you want to become an Explorer, hm? Just curious.”

Prince felt his cheeks heat up once more, closing his eye and shivering with embarrassment. He’d really have to learn to handle direct questions better, this was ridiculous – he felt like a kitten again. But at the thought of the question came the mental image of that swampert who had helped him only a few days before… Luke had saved him from the statue’s attack and somehow convinced the meowth the stay and fight. It was Luke who finally convinced Andalusst might become something akin to a home for Prince and Havenleigh… Luke made Prince feel a little less afraid of being lost. The idea of joining his guild hadn’t seemed too scary – more like having a new home.

“W-well, Luke kinda convinced me… He helped me fight that statue, s-so I decided I could trust him. And I w-want to be able to help other pokemon here, and it seems like the Explorers do a g-good job of that.”

“That’s good. Because ultimately, the people come first, yeah? There’s lots of food in dungeons, and materials for clothing and medicine! When we got out and find that stuff, it means everyone here gets to have dinner. I mean, you know that obviously, but just don’t forget!”

Teresa swayed her leafy tail from side to side and tapped her foot, momentarily distracted by her own thoughts, a wanting grin plastered on her face. Then she lifted her snout into the air and cleared her throat. “N-not to sound standoffish, but what exactly do you do, anyway? Like, what skills or talents do you have to offer us? Everyone’s good at something, I like to think.”

Prince mumbled, “W-well, I’m good with trading. My family are merchants and I learned a lot from my parents. I know a lot about food and quality materials, a-and I can sew a little and play music and manage money.”

“What about you?” Teresa asked, her nose pointed at Havenleigh. “You’re not much of a talker, are you? Can you do anything you think is pretty cool?”

Prince looked down at Havenleigh, watching her little purple flame waft lazily atop her head of wax. The litwick said, “I’m more interested in keeping Prince safe. I suppose I can offer some firepower behind expeditions.” Havenleigh paused, then said dryly, “The pun wasn’t intended.”

Teresa giggled, clicking her fingers and pursing her lips in a manner Prince had to categorized as ‘strangely satisfied’. “I can just feel it, you do what you do and do it with everything you’ve got. In this guild, when the giver gives, the giver gets… gotten… gets give- eh, you get what you give or something. Whatever, it’s written down on that big plaque on the wall. Just do your best and come see me if you need any help!”

Sounding very cheerful, Teresa gave Prince and Havenleigh a little wave before turning and immediately engaging another group of recruits nearby. Prince sighed with relief, more than glad the impromptu interview was over with. He wagged his tail and turned to head home. He wanted to try on his new gloves, perhaps adjust the cuffs of the wrists to make sure they fit nicely.
Drawn Application

So! Because I wanted to write something for Errand #10, I decided it was time to go ahead and make a written app for Wax'n'Wane. I do intend for the team to be predominantly drawn, but I realize it'll be more conveniant for me to be able to accomplish smaller missions and personal stories if I'm able to write them too.

This is obviously pretty late into the game, so I'll add that as it is, the time of this little 'interview' takes place immediately following mission 1, so Prince is written a little differently than how he might act now.

Only written entries will be linked on this post - all entires can be found on the drawn app
