Seeing Red

If you take my work for granted
Or you make me feel ignored,
I'll grow slowly disenchanted -
Feeling lowly, sad and bored.

If you tell me I've let others down
When I've truly tried my best,
A deceitful smile will hide my frown
While I will become depressed.

If you crush my creativity;
Hush my enthusiasm, too -
I'll be good for no activity,
For, I will be feeling blue.

Yet, it stings most when you blame me
For the things I can't control;
When you taunt and try to shame me,
You will haunt and try my soul.

So, please don't try to change me.
This warning has now been said;
Or I promise you'll be sorry,
For I will be seeing red!
