#AnthroCommunity is quite large and always growing. It's easy to feel lost in the crowd so let's bring some of you out of the shuffle and share some spotlight. Beginners, hobbyists and professionals are all invited to share the glory. Meet someone new!
Today we introduce to you little-owlette
Tell us a little bit about yourself.
I'm Owlette! I'm 23 years old, living in NorthWestern USA. I'm married to a guy I met on Deviantart almost eight years ago, and we're currently living with our two mini Dachshunds and a pet rat named Franklin! I speak English and Dutch, after living for two years in The Netherlands. Most people say I'm an extremely cheerful and upbeat person who never misses a chance to giggle or make a really bad pun. (: I collect owl-related stuff and books. How long have you been doing art?
I've been drawing since I was in diapers. My parents actually have a really funny story about how I'd draw little stick figures all over my pajamas when I was little! I started doing art professionally when I lived in the Netherlands in 2009. I had a small business license and everything, it was pretty exciting! When we moved back to the US in 2011, I took a little break from art to focus on my health and to try my hand at a more 'conventional' job. But it wasn't long before I returned to art full time. I've now been working professionally as a self-employed artist in the US for two years.
What brought about your interest into Anthro?
I've always been crazy about animals, and I was an internet nerd from a very early age (unfortunately for me, this was before the internet was cool). I think you can figure things out from there, haha! When I was about ten or eleven years old, I stumbled across some art by the lovely and talented GoldenWolfen. I was immediately in awe of her amazing, detailed art style -- and I was drawn to the strange wolf-people she was always drawing. Pretty soon I was looking for more art like hers, and drawing anthro art of my own!Do you have a fursona or favourite character? If so, what inspired it?
I have two fursonas: Eske the owl gryphon, and River the owl. Eske is a fairly old character of mine, she's been around for quite a while now. I created her because I've always had a love for owls -- but I also love those cute kitty paws and ears, and I knew she wouldn't be complete without them!
Much later, I decided to create "River", who is a better representation of myself. Eske still represents a part of me (some people even still call me Eske), but River is my main fursona.
Who is your biggest inspiration?
I have three major inspirations in my life. The first is balaa -- her art has always inspired me so deeply. She is by far my favorite artist of all time, and she has been for many years. The second inspiration of mine is KovoWolf -- she is such a huge part of the anthro community, it's hard to seperate one from the other at times. She has shown an incredible amount of energy and dedication to dA's anthro community, I hope one day to accomplish even a fraction of what she's done.
And lastly, there's no way I could fail to mention my dear husband, Verticae. He's been so supportive and helpful, offering me encouragement and critique whenever I need it. Without him, I would never have had the courage or the means to do art full-time -- in fact, I'm not sure I would even be posting art online without his encouragement.
