Occupation: Self-Employed Explorer, Adventurer, Scholar, and Novelist.

 

Back-story:  Harkening from an age of two fisted heroes, comes Zachariah Starsmith.  An Era when men settled their differences with roundhouse kicks and sucker punches. The numerous volumes of his autobiography are sold worldwide, and children are often raised on tales of his exploits Many of the old guard of adventurers sought simple goals. Gold, fame, love, justice to name a few. Zachariah sought The Great Work.

All alchemists dream of The Great Work, the search for physical immortality. Zachariah searched the world up and down for eighty years. Though while his efforts have kept his muscles and bones working, his organs feel weight of his years. The only thing keeping him from becoming a bedridden husk is a cocktail of exotic ingredients and expensive tonics.

Powers and Abilities:

Renaissance man: Zachariah is extremely well versed in a multitude of academic disciplines, Such as herblogy, alchemy, arcane knowledge, engineering, geology, archeology, linguistics, physics and psychology.

Alchemical Potions: Zachariah often creates and keeps on him several potions that bestow a vast range of quasi-magical affects. This however requires a time and his internal energy to make. He can craft up to seven potions a day, and it takes eight minutes to craft a single potion.  He needs at least a small alchemy kit to craft potions.

Alchemical Bombs: Zachariah learned very early in his career that explosions solve a great deal of problems. He has devoted so much time in the creation of alchemical bombs that he can craft them on the fly with minimal materials. He can even create specialist bombs. Such as blinding bombs, Frost bombs, and Earthquake bombs.

Experience: If it can be fought, Zachariah probably fought it.  his life time of adventuring has left him with a general knowledge of how to take down anything under the sun.

Weaknesses:

Age: Gone are the days of him punching out ogres. Though his potions have saved a decent portion of his strength and agility, he cannot stack up hand-to-hand against a trained opponent in their prime.

Panacea Dependency: The only thing keeping Zachariah moving is an expensive mixture he calls the Panacea.  He must take a dose every 12 hours or be bedridden until he can get another dose. Taking less than a dose will weaken him severely. Overdosing will temporarily return him to his prime capabilities, but will exasperate his condition, and further reduce his lifespan.

Energy Drain Vulnerability: From a young age, Zachariah was diagnosed with a small internal reservoir. Leaving him incapable of performing direct magic. Any spell or curse that attacked his life force directly would be extra effective.
