Where I come from, I have seen some horses in pretty deplorable conditions. But usually, these cases are so rare that they make headline news. People will gasp, devastated by how a human being could possibly treat an animal that way, and then it will be many months or even years before we see another case of starving horses. The fact is, I live in a place where we are very fortunate, the suffering of animals is almost always due to personal choices made - a sheer lack of responsibility - not out of necessity, and help for them comes fairly easily once they are confiscated.

But there are some places in the world where this isn't the case, where horses are beasts of burden and are used for work, not leisure, as has been the way for centuries. These horses put food on the table for struggling families, and more often than not, workers have very little money left to actually care for them. A starving horse with horrific saddle sores still goes on to be ridden/worked until every once of its strength and spirit is used up. Recently I came across an amazing non-profit organization for horses in Egypt, that fixes and fattens up these horses as best they can. They have WOWED me, and I hope they will wow you too!

The organization is called Prince Fluffy Kareem and is a UK registered charity in Cairo, Egypt.

Seriously, go check out their case photos and you'll be amazed at the transformations.

My first thought to help this charity out was to auction off a premium and donate the funds, but honestly my baby is due -very- soon, so I couldn't guarantee the winner would have their finished piece in any reasonable amount of time, especially with commissions to finish first. So, I have just donated via paypal (you can find their paypal info on the Facebook page or via the donate button on the website, I believe). I encourage all of my fellow horse-lovers to consider donating as well!!

Omg I LOVE PFK! I have been following them for a long time now and I just can't get over the work they do. Definitely worth anyone checking out, donating, and doing anything they can to help. This group is filled with some of the most amazing people and the progress and the results they get by doing what they are doing are evident in their before and after images. Simply outstanding! Thanks for sharing this on dA. :3
