Blind Baby

It was two weeks since the birth of their little baby girl and still when Riyumi stared at hers and Kenny's baby, she felt a great pain in her heart. It didn't matter where she looked though, little Gemaine could not see a thing. Not her mother's face or her father's face or anyone else's. "It's my fault," Riyumi whispered to herself. She had carried the baby for months and she had lost control of her emotions on several occasions with devastating results. First she had nearly killed her boyfriend, then accidentally caused a close friend to be locked away in the Light Elf dungeons, and now the baby... Tears began to fill her eyes as she felt the guilt rise up once more. She did this, she made her baby girl unable to see, it must have been her.

But just as she was about to release a loud sob, the Light Elf felt hands wrap around her stomach and embrace her from behind. She who it was and felt herself turned around to face Kenny. Now facing her, the man softly held her their baby to him. "It's not your fault Riyumi," he whispered into her ear. "You didn't want her to be blind, right?" Riyumi nodded, snuffling and wiping her tears away with one hand while keeping a hold on Gemaine. "And you still love our daughter right," Kenny continued. She nodded again, sniffing slightly and gaining better control of herself. "Well then," the man said, "It's not your fault. And even if she's blind, she's going to grow up to be a proper woman. She does have wonderful parents after all."

And with that response, Riyumi returned Kenny's hug, careful with Gemaine as she did so. She had been so worried that the sight of a blind baby would ruin the relationship they had taken years to build. But still he was by her side, loyal as ever. It was still rough, but their relationship was still going on and their new family still strong.


So yeah, I just dropped drama bomb and moving to hell o w o *demonic laughter*

As you have read, Riyumi has been worried out of her mind that it's her fault that Gemaine has been born blind. Andshe'srighttothinkthatbecauseit'stotallyherfault. However, Kenny is still there for her and wants him and her to be good parents for their little daughter. Connor doesn't fully understand what's going on, but he too supports his adoptive parents in whatever they're doing (since he's still 4-years old). It's going to be hard to raise their little bundle, but maybe... something can be done?

Also yes, babies can be born blind because of stress from the mother. I talked to my pysch instructor (who also knows how humans grow) and she confirmed this for me. It's a random chance thing, but it's possible.
