Older Peter Pan X Older Reader: Part 23

The petite pixie woman's dark slanted eyes narrowed in on you in a predatory manner. She was small, but there was a presence about her that made her feel ten feet tall. The stunning smile on her face was empty, but her words turned out to be anything but. ""Zhu Rong and Jan Di are right to call her a child, because her actions and words prove her to be such. She speaks of a portending slaughter of our people with great confidence, but yet she presents no real evidence of Hook's intentions other than her own speculations." She would have us all assume that if Hook wins this little private tiff of theirs they have been having for years he will immediately move ashore and go power mad, killing off everyone and anyone who gets in his way! But where is her proof for such accusations? Has Hook ever expressed any hatred for anyone other than Pan, the mermaids, and the Tik Tok Croc? The fact that Hook killed Chief Great Big Little Panther and left a note warning the Picanniny that if they continued to ally with Peter he would finish them all speaks for itself. Hook's actions prove his only target is Pan and whoever protects him." Her thick honey voice fired off all her points in quick succession with added dramatic emphasis. She spoke using her tiny hands like extensions of her words, rising and falling with eloquent flair.  

"Anyone who has been killed up until now has only ever been civilian casualties of their ongoing battle. Both Captain Hook and Pan have been waging this petty war on each other for how long now? and during this whole time that we faeries have stayed out of it not once has Hook ever tried to directly attack us nor has he ever threatened us particularly. So why now that the battle comes to it's inevitable climax are we to assume that we're next on Hook's to do list? The child herself indicated in her own speech that she's not even met with the captain yet so why does she speak with such authority on his intentions to us? Are we to waste our time, out effort, our resources, and our very own people on only the fear of a future attack?" Inanna stopped to let her question sink into the room. She reminded you of a really good defense attorney, systematically destroying your case and intelligence right there before the judge and jury. Your hands started to break out in a cold sweat as a lump formed in your throat. Her argument seemed so logical. Your heart was screaming its instant opposition, but your brain was failing to find a flaw in her thinking. How were you to refute her statements? You really didn't know anything about the history between Peter and Hook and honestly you didn't really know much about Hook himself either. She defeated your entire argument with nothing more than cold hard facts. What was there to say? What could you say? You scoured your mind for something, anything that might be used to persuade them to your side, but you were left blank. Your heart sank as you stood their helplessly. Was it really over? Just like that? Was that all you could do for Peter? Your eyes frantically swept over the rest of the Faerie Courts, but most of their faces were unreadable to you. Zhu Rong seemed to be in deep contemplation while his wife's crimson lips stuck out in a dejected pout. A self satisfied smile played on both the lips of an Egyptian looking couple on the farthest right from Rhiannon. Queen Rhiannon raised her golden eyebrows in appreciation while saying, "Anything you'd like to add to that Enki?"

The man beside Inanna was still sitting comfortably poised in his seat. His russet colored skin stretched over an attractively oval shaped face. Similar to his mate's, his eyes were also slanted, but his irises were a more richer warmer shade of brown and they weren't nearly as prominent in his face. He had a larger rounder nose as well, but it added character to his face and it gave him a more approachable appearance. His pale lips were slightly turned downward at the ends and his expression turned thoughtful. He was handsome in a more natural way than the others. There wasn't anything incredibly striking about him, but he exuded an air of calm steadiness all around him. By all appearances he seemed like a trustworthy, down to earth, dependable kind of guy.

Enki's hands were relaxed and folded across his chest. You noticed he wore a couple silver banded rings on some of his long steepled fingers. He sported a navy blue silk kaftan that had silver trim along the loose draping sleeves, and at the top of the high necked collar, and again across the bottom hem at his feet. There was a few silver filigree designs symmetrically sewn up the sleeves of his arms, but other than that his kaftan was simple and bare. He managed to pull off looking lavish, and casual at the same time. He shook his head slightly, making his short wavy black curls ruffle a little as he finally answered in a husky voice, "I think Ina has spoken well enough for the both of us. We shouldn't take any actions until we have proof of any real threat."      

Your hope was dwindling more and more by the second. The trial was looking pretty grim at this point. Inanna and Enki's case was so well laid out before the Court that it left very little room for debating on your part. What did you expect? You barged in here armed with nothing more than a harebrained scheme and a mad determination to do anything to help Peter and The Boys. You never seemed to learn from your mistakes here in Neverland. You're always acting on your impulses while never stopping to really think about them first. Confronted with these truths you hung your head crestfallen.

Just then a mahogany skinned man stood up from his seat and proclaimed in an orotund cultured voice, "Forgive me Your Majesty for speaking out of turn, however I have something to say that directly pertains to Inanna's questions. May we take the floor next?" A small flutter of optimism sprang anew in your chest at this new turn of events. Queen Rhiannon looked mildly peeved at having her courtroom procedures being ignored, but her golden eyes gave away her mounting curiosity. "Very well Deng, you and Oya may speak now," she consented with a regal wave of her hand. All of the Faerie Court as well as yourself seemed to lean in to hear what would be said next. You could only hope for a miracle at this point so you clasped your hands together in silent prayer as everyone waited with baited breath.
