They hadn't gone in expecting to place first, but the horses at Lone Cedar all had more energy now that it was colder in Italy (though at the same time conveniently lazy for polo ponies). Alex had been up and about early that day, making sure everything was tidy and she had prepared a speech with a list of advantages to signing up for this endurance race - because one can never be unprepared - only to have Hannah lift her brow and cross her arms with a small smile. It was common knowledge that the copper-headed rider was kind of neurotic.

"You should go," Hannah told her with a gentle hand on the shoulder before the small farm's owner went into the tack room and slung some halters over her shoulder to turn out the Nordanners. "I think it'll be good for the both of you."

"Thank you, Ms. O! You won't regret it. We'll do amazing!"

"Don't put any pressure on that horse - or yourself. Understood? He needs the exercise and you need to get out of my hair a while. Mo and I can handle it here. I'm sure Oliver'll come help out."

"Thank you!"

Perched on her favorite stallion's back, bundled up and red-nosed, Alex watched her surroundings carefully. They were traveling at a decent pace, though certainly not the fastest, and it was quite comfortable. The breed's trademarked ambling gait was known as a skegga and Amaro would snort and work his jaw every now and again if Alex asked him to pick up the pace just a little bit, stretching out his neck and flattening his ears to let her know that, yeah, she was on top, but a crow-hop would remind her that he could totally ditch her here. She patted his shoulder with a gloved hand and he nickered softly as they began to make their way down a slight, but slick, muddy hill.
