(+) Determined: Once Istella has decided on doing something she will follow it through to the end (despite any hiccups along the way).

(+) Respectful: Being from a large family, Istella learned the value of personal space early on in life and she understands and respects that everyone handles social situations differently.

(+) Curious: Istella has always been eager to learn. She loves anything to do with historical studies, from Paleontology to Archeology, her willingness to learn has gained her high marks in her theoretical studies.

(-) Hot headed: Istella can easily get frustrated, especially if she has been trying to achieve or complete something for sometime and things just haven't been going her way. In fact she may even have a little sulk about it. Don't worry it won't last for too long, just let her do her thing and eventually she will come slinking back to try again.

(-) Hasty: Istella is occasionally prone to moments of impatient and hasty decisions, if she is bored Istella will try and get the job/subject over and done with as quickly as possible or if it is a subject she is over-confident in then Istella will often skim through her work which will lead her to missing important details.

(-) Finicky: Due to her thick wool (and her ability Static) Istella is incredibly 'precious' when it comes to keeping the area around her clean and tidy, while she isn't exactly disgusted by dirt her wool does tend to pick up a lot of dust, dirt and other bits and pieces throughout the day thus leading her to gain a bit of a 'neat freak' reputation.

( = ) Easy to read: Istella is pretty much an open book when it comes to how she's feeling. She is a very emotional 'Mon and her body language is easy to read, if she trusts or likes you, or you've made her happy in any way, she becomes very 'touchy-feely'. Light touches, hugs or kisses if you're a certain spider are all ways Istella will communicate her approval with you. However, if she is upset with you she'll become very closed off, withholding all physical contact from you.

( = ) Sensitive: Istella is very aware of other 'Mons feelings, she'll never kick you when you're down nor will she force you to do something you're not comfortable with. However her sensitivity means that she can be easily hurt by harsh words or intimidated by other 'Mons with brash or blunt personalities.

( = ) Progressive: Considering the traditions that exist on both sides of the family, Istella has become fed-up with old-fashioned beliefs. She prefers to leave the past in the past and would much rather focus on the future than concern herself with how things were done 100 years ago.

History:

It is said that when Pokemon that needed to cross the ocean they used the 'Lights of Olivine', a group of Ampharos, to guide them away from the treacherous waters of the Whirlpool Islands. This was long before the technology of the lighthouses was invented and because of the lack of modern technology of their time many of the Ampharos would be swept away into the currents themselves. Despite the dangers, these brave Pokemon continued to give up their lives so that others could cross the sea in safety. Thankfully technology did eventually catch up and the group got to work on building crude lighthouses on some of the small islands all the way up to Cianwood and back, this also allowed stronger boats that could withstand the dangerous waters to be built so that the Ampharos travelling to and from the newly built lighthouses could travel without fear of sinking. To reward these forward thinking Pokemon the Monarchy at the time allowed them to create their own Clan. The Corbel Clan. The group was humbled, even though they were given the status of a rich man they continued to travel out to the rickety old lighthouses every night to ensure the safety of the working 'Mon. After all no Pokemon's light shines brighter than an Ampharos. They worked hard to improve on the structures standing in the churning waters. As the years passed technology continued improve and original Ampharos that started the 'Lights of Olivine' are now long dead.

Istella hails from the sunny coastal city of Olivine in the Johto region and was born into the very wealthy Corbel family. A Clan made up exclusively of 'Mon from the Ampharos evolution line, all of which claim to have stemmed from said group of Ampharos called the 'Lights of Olivine'. The youngest of eight children. A bouncing bundle of pink wool, rather than the normal off-white color that most Mareep have. As a child she was incredibly happy, very rarely did she cry, make a fuss or throw tantrums, after all why would she? She had parents that loved her. Siblings that adored her. Her family by this time was VERY well respected among many of the Clans in Johto AND she was completely unaware of the tiresome politics that went on behind the scenes of the wealthy families within the region. However at the young age of ten Istella had noticed that all her siblings seemed to excel in certain subjects, something that helped bring back the good Corbel name, still what her siblings did never REALLY bothered her, so why care? Though she couldn't shake this nagging feeling in the back of her mind. All of her brothers and sisters were doing these AMAZING things, some of them at young ages. Of course she was happy for them but there was something else there too. She couldn't exactly place it, so she ignored it and never told anyone.

Then came the 'teen' years and suddenly 'Mon of all sorts started asking her all these questions. "What are you planning to do when you get older?" "What school do you go to?" "Which university are you looking at?" "What kind of career do you want?" Istella was confused. These were big questions, big questions that she didn't know the answer to. So she did what any child would, she asked her parents, Belinda and Mordecai, for help. They tried to ease her worries, told her 'not to linger on such things' that she 'shouldn't trouble herself'. Istella grew frustrated. This was not what she wanted to hear, so she went to her siblings and asked them all the same questions. Every single one of them were either already doing what they wanted to do, on their way to becoming what they wanted to be or knew what the wanted to be later on in life. For the first time in the little sheep's life she found herself upset, more so at herself than at anyone else. How had her siblings all managed to find something to excel in, something that they loved doing while she was left in the cold? Very quickly this upset feeling turned into anger as Istella constantly tried to match her siblings brilliance. It wasn't as if she was falling behind in her studies, quite the opposite. Her marks were impeccable but if they weren't up to the 'Corbel' standard she would scrap everything and start all over again. Her tutors had told Mordecai and Belinda that Istella theoretical studies were impeccable as far as any university standard went, however if she continued to push herself to reach unobtainable standards she would eventually create her own downfall and be kicked out of school. Apparently any assignment she thought had not been perfect, she wouldn't send in to the Correspondence School she was enrolled with at the time. According to them, Istella wasn't doing any work at all.

When Belinda and Mordecai approached their daughter about this recent development, they told Istella that she had to stop pushing herself so hard. She needed to take things one step at a time. The young Mareep then did something that no one had ever seen her do before. She threw a tantrum. She was frustrated. She was angry. She was angry because she had no words to express how she felt. She didn't know why she was angry that her siblings had all these amazing talents. She didn't know why she was scared to introduce herself as a member of the Corbel Clan. She didn't know why she was feeling all these things that she couldn't put words to and she didn't know why her parents didn't understand her frustrations. How could they? Belinda and Mordecai came from a generation where they had to work desperately to SAVE their family name from being dragged through the mud. Istella was born into a generation of 'Mon who are constantly compared to the success of those who come before them. All her brothers and sisters had carried on to do the Corbel name proud, what would she do? What could she contribute to the Clan? Her frustration then turned into fear. Fear that whatever she did would never be good enough. Her parents wondered that maybe if due to the fact that they had home-schooled her, kept her around all her very successful siblings, had lead to all these insecurities. After many sleepless nights they finally decided on sending their daughter to a boarding school. It would be the first tim she would be away from the family and living 'alone' but the believed it was for the best.

And for a while it truly did bring out the best in the young sheep. Sure she was a little homesick, but there were no constant reminders around her of who she was related to and what she needed to aspire to be. For the first time in her life she was just an average student doing average student things. Sleeping in, eating the wrong food, crushing on other Pokemon...and crushing on 'Mon she did. Her biggest transformation was after she started dating the Ariados, Levi Vovin. He helped her be more comfortable with who she was and stop striving to be someone she wasn't. Sadly the two teens were to be forced apart after Levi received a message that he was to be transferred to Armonia. After an emotional day of goodbyes, it seemed that Istella's Father, Mordecai, saw the good that both teenagers brought out in each other and through some determination of his own he managed to enroll his daughter in the prestigious school so that she could stay by the boys side. But remember Istella "School first!".

Regarding the fact that Istella has very little talent when it comes to battle (especially close combat) her parents thought it best that she learn an attack that she can use to, literally, protect herself with.

Growl - The user growls in an endearing way, making opposing Pokémon less wary. This lowers their Attack stats.

Thunder Wave - The user launches a weak jolt of electricity that paralyzes the target.

Thundershock - A jolt of electricity crashes down on the target to inflict damage. This may also leave the target with paralysis.

Cotton Spore - The user releases cotton-like spores that cling to the opposing Pokémon, which harshly lowers their Speed stats.

Charge - The user boosts the power of the Electric move it uses on the next turn. This also raises the user's Sp. Def stat.

Take Down - A reckless, full-body charge attack for slamming into the target. This also damages the user a little.

Electro Ball - The user hurls an electric orb at the target. The faster the user is than the target, the greater the move's power.

Confuse Ray - The target is exposed to a sinister ray that triggers confusion.

Power Gem - The user attacks with a ray of light that sparkles as if it were made of gemstones.

Poison Tail - The user hits the target with its tail. It may also poison the target. Critical hits land more easily.

Acid - The opposing team is attacked with a spray of harsh acid. The acid may also lower the targets' Sp.Def stats.
