Sadly, for the last week, I've been in a bit of an art stall. Part of it has to do with the holiday season I guess, but the rest of it, admittedly, is that a few distractions have come up, and I've been a bit too focused on those...

Fortunately for you guys, one of those distractions, is something that's actually very good. I'm sure many of you have come in here, browsed through my stories, and read "Flames of Instinct: The Wild Dragon". If you haven't, you should get to it asap, because it's in for a MAJOR facelift. In other words, I'm going through, and revising it, adding increased character development, as well as detailed descriptions of events, and characters. As it currently stands, FoI:WD is about 30-40 pages long, pretty short right? Well, you can expect that to double, if not triple by the time I've finished with it. Odds are, it'll remain 9 chapters + epilog, but, those chapters will be longer, new events will be added, and existing events will be expanded. All in all, it's going to be a much bigger survival story then it currently is.

With that, It's time I turn to you guys. And this is going to require some reading on your part.

Once I'm finished with the novel, it's going to be back to commissions.... and I may not get the time I need to properly work on a cover, so, that said, while I'm working on this revisal, and on commissions, how many of you would like to try your hand at doing that piece of the novel?

If you want in, you'll have to remember a couple things:
1. The cover has to depict a scene from the story.
2. The cover has to have both of the main characters (Jessica and Staria), on it.
3. The characters have to be drawn to the CURRENT body type of the FOI Dracomen (best example: Siennas body type)

Now, those that do this, will get a free Ebook version of the novel, (with the 2nd place cover FYI), the winner will get a physical copy of the book, with THEIR cover on it. Now, I know it's not much of a prize if you guys are even interested... but it's probably the easiest thing I can do that won't break my paypal (as weak as it is). If you guys are interested, let me know in the comments, or vote in the poll below.

Edit/Update: Those that are interested, you have until January 15th to submit either a close-to-finished WIP, or a full image. After that, it goes up for vote for a week. I plan to have the novel available for purchase by the 24th of January. Make sure to get your submissions in!

Commissions Open!

I am open for commissions. Please see my prices if you are interested in having me draw for you. If you don't see what you want, please contact me about your request.

Just my opinion, but the idea that you'll be tripling 40 pages but keeping 9 chapters is a BAD idea.  You have to remember the modern reader for the most part have busier life-styles.  They need to feel like they're accomplishing something, and grab a little something on the side.  Treat your book like you would a healthy quick to eat snack, like a protein bar.

My rule in writing, try to keep your chapters around 5 pages or less. 6 or 7 page chapters are OK if you really can't break up the scene into smaller bits.  The longest chapter I have in EDEL is 12 pages - again I couldn't break up the scene.  If your book triples to 120 pages, you'll want at least a third as many chapters (between 20 to 30 chapters).

Again just my opinion, but I'm thinking about your audience.
