Consciousness came back to you slowly. You felt suspended in a groggy state that was neither here nor there. Your thoughts were like scattered marbles; they rattled around endlessly inside your head, yet once you thought you had grasped one it slipped through your hands. An icy chill seemed to be seeping into your very bones. It made you feel like shivering, but you felt so disembodied that you didn't even think you were capable of moving that much. Suddenly though a soft rush of warmth started on the surface of your skin and it sank in all the places you had previously been freezing. It strangely had a soothing effect and it made that part of your brain that was waking up in a panic quiet down again. You were content just to lay there and be. No worries, no emotions, and no real thoughts at all. Unfortunately someone else seemed determined to snap you out of your trance like state. Two strong hands gripped your shoulders painfully tight and they began to shake you so fiercely your head began to loll back and forth with the force of it. A distinct audible male voice immediately followed the assault, "Enough! Wake up and fight it!"

Just as your brain was beginning to process what these words meant a hard slap came stinging across your face. Tears pricked your eyes and the startling blow jump started your brain into alarm. Self awareness came crashing in a blinding rush. The first thing you registered was that you were half lying down, half sitting up. Your eyes blinked open rapidly as you tried to see just who was holding you up. You should have known who it was though by the burning of an electrical shock on your bare flesh where his strong hands were gripped around your upper arms. Kwoth's unearthly handsome face was mere inches away from yours as he stared into your eyes intensely. His normally solemn expression was replaced with one of impatient anger. His coal eyes seemed to be blazing with untamed energy. His dark bare skin held a hint of green from the wild sparking of neon green dust pouring forth from his wings like a waterfall. The tiny flakes hit your skin like pinpricks of tiny volts. The sensation was that of licking your finger and sticking it in a light socket. "Let go of me!" you yelled at him as each tiny shock sent stinging currents throughout your entire nervous system.  He complied a little too quickly for you to register and once his hands had left your arms you were sent falling backwards. Thankfully though petite hands caught your head before it hit the cold marble floor. "Easy does it now lass," a thickly Gaelic male accent cried out from somewhere close by. With your head being cushioned a few centimeters off the floor you focused your eyes on the marvelous creature that was staring down at you. Her round shaped face hovered above yours and her slightly wavy burnt orange hair cascaded down like a curtain hiding your face and hers from the others. Her alabaster skin was so smooth and perfect it looked like she could be a living statue. All of her facial structure was soft and rounded from her wine colored cupid's bow lips to her delicate rosy cheeks. She had large midnight blue Bette Davis eyes and she transfixed you with her consoling gaze as she looked down at you and smiled faintly. Her serene and elegant manner made you think of her as a fair maiden who had princes coming from all over to joust for her hand in marriage. "Are you alright small one?" she asked gently.

You stared up at her like a pacified child and nodded. Her face broke out into a relieved full smile as she spoke again and you noticed she too had a Gaelic accent, "Do you think you can sit up on your own?" You nodded again and that was enough for her to lean back and cautiously remove her hands from the back of your head. At the same time you managed to use the floor for leverage as you pushed the top half of your body into a sitting position. You were surprised to find though that your beautiful white gown was covered with blood yet you didn't seem to have a scratch on you. Judging by the rips in your dress however the blood was most certainly yours. "Is she alright?" a tremulous voice called out from across the room.

"She will be, no thanks to you," a smokey male voice quipped back maliciously. You turned your head to the side and saw Oya standing several feet away looking frightened and terribly guilt stricken. Her cognac doe eyes furtively glanced at you, clearly wanting to come closer, but obviously too scared to try. "You practically killed her and you made a fine mess of The Court Room as well!" the same male voice added cruelly. Oya seemed as if she was going to crumble to the floor herself. Deng's easy going composure was completely gone and he glared murderous daggers at the Egyptian male faerie. His cultured voice was taught as he remarked back, "Need I remind you none of this would have happened had your wife kept her smart mouth shut. We all know Oya isn't the only one who has tried to kill her for it." The Egyptian faerie man growled menacingly under his breathe as he grabbed his black and silver staff like a gladiator ready to fight to the death. Deng didn't back down though he just gently pulled Oya behind him and stood there daring him with his eyes to just go ahead and try it.

"Enough." Queen Rhiannon commanded boredly from her golden throne. The two pixie men instantly stopped, but their continued eye lock proved neither one of them were letting it go any time soon. You noticed that all of the Court members except for the Queen were now randomly standing around you. Behind you and now standing on her feet was the graceful red-headed faerie woman and whom you could only surmise was supposed to be her male counterpart. He had lightly curling dark brown hair that went down a little past his ears. It made him look rakishly disheveled. He had a fair complexion but it wasn't nearly as pale as the woman beside him. He had hooded cat's eye green eyes that were shrouded by lengthy dark lashes. They sat atop his architectural cheekbones that led down to a square cut jaw which had a rather becoming five o clock shadow all across it. The more you looked at his face the more he looked like he had just rolled out of bed. His outfit though was unlike any of the others. He was not fancily dressed at all. Unlike all of the other men, he actually wore black pants that fit tightly to his legs. He sported knee high combat like boots with lots of crisscrossing straps. The boots were metal plated on the round ends and heel, but somehow you didn't think it was just there for decoration, but maybe for hard kicking. He was dressed like an elven warrior with his heavy silver upper body armor over a hunter green tunic that was brocaded with shining silver embroidered leaves. More armor went up from triangle points on the back of his hands to just before his elbows. The armor on his arms were in a dark worn metal fish scale pattern and he had a sheathed long sword on his left hip and two across his back. Their jeweled grips were just barely visible over his shoulder armor. He looked like he had just stepped out of The Lord Of The Rings, except for his elegant silver colored wings, with their hunter green trimmed pointed tips and inside curlicues. The dark green dust that lazily fell off of him to dissolve onto the floor definitely put him into the realm of the pixies rather than any elves. His sharp eyes were watching Deng and the Egyptian faerie man closely. His hands were resting gently on the butt of the sword on his hip, but he was deceptively still otherwise. He stood there like a stone looking all the more rough standing next to the soft and lovely red headed pixie woman who was still smiling beside him.

They complimented each other well since she looked like a mid-evil princess with her Celtic wedding styled gown. The top half of the gown was a clover gown that was itself like a half long tunic that cut down the front like a corset, but the rest ran down the back. The sleeves were snow white and they were fitted along her arms until they reached the elbows where they billowed out like tied back curtains. From her cinched waist downward the dress bowed out in a sophisticated ball gown manor complete with alternating sage and basil colored cloths. Two embroidered strips of shining olive silk went over her shoulders down to the hem of the gown, one on each inner side of her hourglass figure. They added flair and a perfectly styled accent to the shape of her body.
Her wings were simply beautiful to behold as they were mostly a dark brown, but the edges were white and were in the shape of small waves. Her wings broke out of the cookie cutter sharp tipped edge of some of the others. The inside of her wings were jade green emphasized with black stripes, with white ovals, and rectangles in a perfectly symmetrical pattern. Olive colored pixie dust glimmered around her constantly like a shining halo. They were quite a pair, a fair Celtic maiden and her brave knight in shining armor.

"Thank you Dughall for stopping Oya's wind gust and minimizing the damage. You have my gratitude," the Queen said while inclining her golden head in the Celtic pixie man's direction, her silvery voice holding the air of the nobility she possessed. Dughall in turn dropped to one knee and bowed his head back at her in reply. A loyal soldier to the core for sure. The Queen bestowed upon him a gracious smile of her own before he gathered to his feet again. It struck you at that moment that the large wall of wood that came up before the Egyptian faerie woman earlier was done by him. He was able to erect that wall and stop the blast of Oya's wind gust all in the blink of an eye. You had thought Oya was terrifying with her ability to summon a gale wind from her fingertips in a matter of seconds, but the fact that this man could react in half that time was even more frightening. You had been enchanted by the kindness and beauty of his partner, but you were going to keep your eyes on him from now on. The giant tears and seeping wet blood stains on your dress were all the reminder you needed that you couldn't afford to let down your guard. The Faerie Courts were not to be messed with if their powers could be summoned in just half a heartbeat. They might look refined and cultured on the outside, but their powers proved them capable of merciless savagery. You had felt safe watching them argue among themselves earlier and it had cost you. You would not make that mistake again.

To be continued…

Authors Note:  Happy New Year everyone! Here is the first chapter of 2015. I hope that you all enjoyed it. So Kwoth was the one yelling at you after all. Were you disappointed it wasn't Peter or happy it was Kwoth? Why did he try to save you? I dunno he's a strange one our Kwoth *secret agent man song comes to mind when I think of him lol* We also got to see a bit more of the Faerie Court members and personally my favorite members (Dughall and Arela the red headed pixie). We will get to see them more in future chapters. Arela's wings if you were curious are based off of Malachite butterfly wings. You should Google them because they are gorgeous though hers are the dark brown ones, not the orange ones.  I'm really looking forward to moving on with the Faerie Courts though we will stay with them for a couple more chapters at least. So I hope you don't find them boring. What will happen next?  Stay tuned for the next chapter to find out! Much love to you all!
