Prompt #16 - The Year of the Sheep/Goat/Ram

Hi Everybody!

The weekly prompt is back again!! I trust everyone had a fabulous festive season. Do you have any New Year's Resolutions planned? I've decided not the compile a list of resolutions, but rather a list of habits, and focus each month on a habit. That way, at the end of the year, I've cultivated 12 new habits (I tried the same last year, but failed miserably.) So, this year, IT IS ON!!!

In light of that, this week's prompt could go one of three ways...

1. Sheep/Goat/Ram
2. Flowers
3. Lunar

Why, you ask?

Well, The Year of the Sheep/Goat/Ram (Chinese Zodiac) starts from Feb. 19, 2015 (the Lunar New Year / Spring Festival of China) and lasts to Feb. 7, 2016.
Years of Birth, Lucky Flowers.

Dig (6)They were digging through Mums' drawers ,
All the flotsam and jetsam 
squirrelled away 
old broaches , postcards ,
souvenir pens that never wrote a word , 
watches whose time ran out long before 
cancer took the owners ' own minutes 
teaspoons from holiday destinations 
old bottles of lavender perfume dry as a wreath
copper coins from the pre - decimal era 
 some old scarves and hair clips 
from the days when her hair was long 
and the breeze 
       was all a woman had to worry about ,
and in amongst the detritus was 
a hand made Mother's Day card 
the red pencil drawing 
of the sun and the words 
"I love you mum "
- it was only then
long after 
the operations , the bedside vigils ,
the funeral ,
that the two sisters 
looked at each other 
and started to cry .
Indigo Sun Burning me 
radiation purpling my skin 
bruised like an aubergine 
my back arched like a dying scarab  
all the while  
the sky flies by 
the sun spectrum at it's darkest
Ra fleeing the lighter colours  
splitting towards Indigo 
it's dark hand reaching out  
a bruising finger 
under my chin .
